earlier got member post about budget folding bikes, like Orbit, Element bout RM 500, frm the bike shop in Kepong, then oso got HASA folding bike,
if wana get a good bargain, have to do homework lo... have to go and check out all the bikes n hunt them in the bike shops,
then u won't feel regret afterwards, for spending more etc.

bike shops tht is near KL PJ area always more $$$ for same model like hasa orbit element etc.
need to find those budget bike shop like the one in kepong, Klang.

those " car " brand bicycles, are always more $$$ than dahon i think, those are all OEM frm factory.

go to this post, contact this member, he just got this budget folding bike.

http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...post&p=46042310

this is the budget bike store. http://www.2fast-4u.com

if u can read chinese, u search for those " car " brand folding bike in taobao.com
u can see more pics than any website online, cos most bikes are made in china anyway.
taobao got shop sell expensive stuffs as well don't misunderstand, and they show u more pics of the product n specs than anywhere.

H2D,

yez you are right, sub bike below 1k , just the matter where do you get cheaper.

Added on October 27, 2011, 3:21 pmbut if you have extra few hundreds to top up, the riding pleasure will be totally  difference, and you will have more fun to riding your bike instead of boring feeling with those cap pa lang brands, then end up in your store room.
This is true fact experience from one of my friend, at first bought a cap pa lang china bike for$750, rode for few times ,chuck it inside store room for the decade , when he test my bike later , he notice a big difference with the bike , now he searching for his 2nd bike. haha

Added on October 27, 2011, 3:31 pmSo, from my friend experience that give me some hints on searching my first new bike from 500 then 850 then 1200 then 1800 then end up 2k plus ,hahaha.

think wisely for your hard working cash.

piece of advice .

Yeah,Giga..U are RIGHT....I really don't want to choose the wrong one & regret it later like your fren....

Anyway yesterday I went to bike shop to service my gear and got 1 big ego dude with his giant mtb came to the shop
and when I walk out with my bike this fellow with his sarcastic voice say to me "Wah! Why you ride children bicycle? Look at the rim size?!" I just smile and told him this is the folding bike that y the rim size is smaller compare with normal bike. But in my mind, if I ask him to race with his giant bike, maybe he also need to lose in terms of speed. smile.gif

you are buying something that you like not what you want to show of or demo purpose or racing with others,

for me i just like the minivelo style of the dashi for my height of 180cm,and get the hasa m2 Bmx style for my wife.

i got the dashi not for going fast or what ever, it's just giving me the riding pleasure even though i ride it leisurely slow.

And for my hasa m2, the steady and rigid hinge give me a not alike foldie's feeling compare to speed p8 or mu p8.

It is the reaction between you and the bike, don't really depend on some paper review, you have to test the bike .

once you test some bikes, you can surely tell what the difference between $500 and $1000 and bike cost you $2000 or more.
It is quite worthwhile  for your money to top up a few hundreds to squeeze out the juice for your riding pleasure.

Happy searching .

Very True, very true.....Need some soul searching when testing it....Just like going pak tor....Ngam or not...

Thanks to everyone for sharing your experiences, knowledge...

some of you will ride the bicycle out at night to yamcha, to shops nearby, or just for a spin.

another option of getting a headlight dedicated to bicycles ( eg cateye) is
to get a torch light holder, if u are a torch light user.
After surefire, there are some really powerful and good quality china made torch light in the market,
eg Fenix, ITP, tons of it out there.

Torch holder comes in various design....

or u can mount ur torch on the helmet.

Hi keny,

If you come from MRR2 and follow kuala selangor road, you will pass by s.buloh ktm and keep going straight and you will see supermarket The Store in front, but keep left and after that you will see Shell station and prepare to turn left inside the shoplot.

The bike shop located at there but i cant remember the bike shop name.Just to let you know there actually got 3 bike shop but the first and second is the from the same owner and the bike shop is in charge by foreigner (they will give general price only) and remember to look for his towkey (quiet friendly) because you can nego price with him. Last time i saw a few folding bike unit that is made in taiwan and less than Rm600. So far he no sell Dahon brand but he got Raleigh and other brand. For my opinion, Raleigh folding bike very nice also. Happy hunting!

Hi all,

Did my survey today in :-

Segambut & Kepong-2Fast 4U-Unable to find the Orbit(arriving next month) but they got Element(I think so) which is not what i want but they got a Hummer Foldable in Bright Yellow which is a Mountain bike which is very, very nice & way over my budget which is around RM1,300 if I didn't heard wrongly.

Sg.Buloh-Found 3 of the shops which is suggested but mainly is Mountain, Fixie and only a few of Foldable.Mostly carry XDS brand going for around rm700-1,100++...

Sg.Way-Tukang Basikal Fook Sang(1 of PJ old timer shops)- They carry Dahon, Hasa M2, Raleigh & local brand, the owner if I not mistaken quite friendly and give good advice and recommendation.

Majority of the shops provide quite good services and really give good info, Thumbs up to them!!

So, anyone looking for bikes can go visit them...& I will continue to do my survey till I found a suitable one

Btw, special thanks to H2D & inkyoctopuss for the info of these outlets

Anyway, if anyone here is selling your bikes I wouldn't mind buying it 2nd hand from anyone in here if it is in good condition and to my preferences/likeness.

Cheers!
