Price start at USD499 and with the lowest configuration and OS (Free DOS) which i doubt it will be available in M'sia, can foresee the XP model will be at 2k or more.

i'm sure i've seen separate line in and outs on the 2140. er yup, it does have a headphone jack and a mic jack.

Yeah, it is separate as mentioned in the video which i posted.

with the current technology? i don't think a better replacement would come that fast.
there's a benchmark that i've read somewhere putting the new dual core atom (4 virtual cores with HT) against this N270 single core atom (2 virtual core with HT). not much performance increase with 25% less battery time. even intel admitted for people to expect that it sucks 25% more battery. and the new dual core atom losses in office benchmark.

the newer N530 uses max 2W of power. N270 uses max 2.5W. the newer Poulsbo US15W chipset (that does HD decoding on chip) doesn't support 2GB ram and is limited to PATA interface.

so something better than a magnesium alloy cased 2140 with 16:9 wider screen? could be. definitely. but not with the upcoming models that i've read about.

maybe soon they'll come up a touch screen netbook>? or 2140 with their touchsmart? cool

HP 2150 also coming...
http://jkkmobile.blogspot.com/2009/01/hp-m...igger-ones.html

" HP will launch a new 11.6-inch notebook in the second quarter and a 13.3-inch low-cost model in June. Both will be part of the Mini-note family and will possibly use Intel's Atom Zxx series processors (Menlow)."

im currently thinking of this netbook for now...seems nice to have a cheap, smaller, secondary machine to bring to campus. bringing a notebook forces me to bring less books...which may lead to tough times tongue.gif

im just thinking if the 2140 would be fast enuf to run apps like google sketchup 7 n autocad 2008? or any sub-2k netbook perhaps?

RM 2k for 2140 is asking a lot. My bar for a subnotebook is drawn at the RM 2k line. So I'm probaby going for the mini 1000 instead. It's lighter as well as having a bigger screen. The 2140 has 1024 X 576 instead of 1024 X 600, which translate into having 1 - 2 lines of text less.
