Z99Sr Laptop
Win Vista Premium

I got a problem here..
tried to install Ubuntu many times but failed..
my lecturer said my DVD drive is lousy (Matshita brand)
i denied his statement since i buy ASUS brand.
Try to use Samsung Dekstop DVD Drive via USB.. same result..

so is there anything that i can do to make sure that i can install Ubuntu in my lappie? such as Bios update? etc..

Try to install Ubuntu in other lappie n desktop using same CD, no problem occur.. so its not a cd problem..

My Asus lappie is frustrating me.. I hope im wrong.. Anyone plz help..
*
Okay, what you mean by installing Ubuntu in your pc ?
You are running dual OS, Vista + Ubuntu or ?
Basically what you can do is, go to Asus support website, go to download section, then choose your model.
After that select Operating system -- > Linux
Check whether there is any Bios update for Linux OS.
Coz if you cant install it in your laptop, for Asus laptop, it's all about BIOS.

Good luck bro.

Yeap, but take note,
Z99SR doesn't comes with Express gate.
So, he can actually try update the BIOS and download drivers.
But for me, it's not an issue caused by drivers, it is the BIOS.

QUOTE(metaloid @ Feb 13 2009, 03:09 AM)
Ok i wanna ask about the model X50GL20DXP7350. The price is 2599. it has a p7350 prosessor compared to the other same model with T6300. ive asked lots of shops and a dealer. funny thing is they tell me its out of stock and obselete, but its quite a new model. the one with T6300 is available but i much prefer the P.
Is the anyone here with pics or know how the notebook looks? coz i cant find info on it. Is it glossy or matte?
So i called Asashi n they r like the only one who has it so i have to order it from them(im from sarawak btw) that means warranty i gotta send it back.
So tell me the status of this model, is it faulty or being called back? and the looks. Oh and i heard new models of Asus r coming out like this week or the next. so maybe i should wait..
*
QUOTE(metaloid @ Feb 13 2009, 04:06 AM)
theres two types for that model. one with the P7350 and the other T6400. i obviously want the P coz its better but to find it is x.x
*
Hi,
Hope i can help with my information here.
X50GL only comes with T5800 RM2199 ( no more in the market ) and T6400 ( RM2699 ).
P7350 processor only comes with F80SE and F5GL.
Both no longer in production anymore.
If you insisted to get F5GL, no problem, you can get them from dealers who are still keeping the stock.
Warranty wise no need to worry, as long as no people touches the hardware or do some changes on it, you are able to claim for the warranty in any Asus service centre.
F80SE -- Recalled back model.
F5GL -- Stop production, replaced by X50GL T6400.

P ( Montevina ) processor is newer.
T6400 is the latest processor in T series.

QUOTE(metaloid @ Feb 13 2009, 05:18 PM)
is it true that there will be new asus models coming in in a week or two?
do u think its worth getting a laptop with OS in? considering u will spend like 200+ more whereas u can just install a pirated one. expecially here in malaysia no one cares.
*
But do you noticed that only the laptop which comes with OS has a better graphic card compared to Free dos laptop. smile.gif

1. my ASUS F8SG can turn on 3 days straight with cooler ON or not? isit recommended?

2.does ASUS F8SG has auto shut downn thingy? i mean whenever the temperature exceesds the max it can takes, it will just shut it down?
*
Hi, if your surrounding with air conditioner, then no problem, you can on it for 3 days straight without using cooler pad.
Otherwise, it would be recommend to use cooler pad.

Yes, for most of the laptop nowadays, when it exceed the max temperature it can takes, the laptop will auto shut off or restart.
So far never heard of any issue on overheating on Asus lappy.

It will be like config 1 of 3 85% ... then failed ?

Hi guys. I just bought the Asus X59SR notebook. I've one problem though. How do I turn on the bluetooth? I've the driver installed, but I can't find any switch or button on the notebook to turn it on!

The small panel at the bottom shows that my bluetooth is not turned on because the green LED did not light up.

Any advice guys?

Hello bro, Welcome to Asus Royal Club.
Click FN key together with F2 button to ON / OFF your wireless and bluetooth.

Hi, can i ask a noob question? tongue.gif

Can Asus F80Q change or add in new Graphic Card..??

Nope you cant.
Some laptop you can managed to change the GPU but it depands on your board as well.
For sure, it would be costly. Might be as well you buy another laptop which comes together with graphic. smile.gif

Hi, it is X59SR.
Yeap, it is a good model.
Im pushing F8vr and M51vr because both also Centrino 2 Laptop.
Depands on customer demands. If you want better graphic, yes, X59SR can give 512 mb dedicated memory for graphic.

No problem.
My shop, cash and credit card ( Visa Master ) one lump sum payment, no extra charges.
For installment, yes, there is 3-4% processing fees.
Total amount x 3% = New amount divided by 12 months.

Any comment of F6V?

Planning to get one b4 i go to UK, maybe check out PC Fair to see if there's any good deal.

Any pros and cons for this model that i should be aware of?Recommendation on other lappie within this budget that i should consider?

Since in UK i'll be walking alot so weight will be an issue here and i try to focus more on 13" rather than anything bigger.
*
Well, if you are using it jz for normal use, can consider N10JC or eee series as you are worying about the weight itself.
If for abit hardcore usage, then F6v wil be the only choice if you want to get 13inches for urself.
