Well, as i mentioned on my previous post, X59SR would be highly recommended.
All Asus laptop can be use in taiwan for sure, yes, warranty valid in Taiwan.

Perfect Stranger,
Sry i cant post the review of 51vr yet.
Vista keeps giving me probs. The taskbar damn slow.. Even after optimizing the system startup and disabling startup processes, stil takes too long to load. Gonna call up ARC today to ask. Mayb get them to flash my bios. Zzzz.
*
Well, you can try go to user account control there, turn off user account control.
It will make the start up faster. laugh.gif

May i know which series of laptop you are having currently ?
F6 or G50 ? smile.gif

QUOTE(raiw @ Jan 13 2009, 10:44 PM)
1) So X59SR and F5GL with genuine windows vista installed, which is more worth?
Because I plan to buy one ASUS lappie on the next PC fair. And I am using it for average game play, average internet access and to accompany
me in my university's life. Budget is around 3.5k. (It's all about worth or not. Not cheap!!)

2) Is Asus aftersale service good?
I know it provides a two year warranty and Asus laptop is one of the most durable laptop brand. Just want to know how its service in case.

Again, thanks for all the reply!
*
Well, definitely X59SR. Meaning because of 512mb dedicated ati hd 3470 graphic memory. icon_question.gif
2 years international warranty covers both parts and labour as well.
So far, it is better than most of the brand in the market, eg Acer, Fujitsu, Toshiba, BenQ ... in terms of warranty wise.

Lacus, Asus X59GL. Got this babeh at 2199, totally in love with it..kinda like Asus's fast email respond (not to mention, a huge Asus fan here tongue.gif) overall the laptop is ok but the only disadvantage is the ram does not run dual channel apparently :/ Btw as for laptops, get it at lowyat plaza....u'll get the same offer as pc fair (i was working there..heck after pc fair the shops still offers same freebies for Asus notebook)
*
Hi, welcome to Asus big family smile.gif
Member name list updated !
Thanks for your review ya laugh.gif

Em, X59GL cannot run dual channel ?
Well, as far as i am concern,
when you are installing the OS, dont put in extra RAM first. Just let it use its original 2gb RAM.
After finished installing the OS + drivers, then only you put in ur ram. smile.gif

that i know this f80q use the GC intel x4500.. thats it better to play game?
*
Hi,
F80Q uses Intel GMA 4500 which you can find it belongs to the 3rd class GPU in the GPU ranking.
Good enough, upgraded to 3GB ram, graphic hyper memory = 1.2GB
For normal tasking + normal 2D and 3D games = Good enough.

Well, the demand in penang not that high, that is why they do not keep much model on hand.

QUOTE(jacksonyong @ Jan 16 2009, 10:59 AM)
Guys, anywhere selling M50VN ?

I asked some shops in LYP all dont have that model or no stock, so u guys noe any ?

Hi, PM replied.
Well, FYI, M50Vn no more stock in the market, need to wait after CNY.

my brotherr's x80l's power adaptor died a few days after purchase, i brought the adaptor along with the receipt to the service center next to lowyat. the guy changed a new one for me, no hassle, so i guess its good

my own a8js is 2yr+ old now, so far ok, though its experiencing random shut down due to overheating, but i never need to service it for any other issue, so i guess its ok

anyways i will change to a desktop later this year so i still recommend asus

p/s: and my asus eee 1000h is working very well so i like asus
*
Good review for those people who dont know much about asus.
By the way, my gf using Eee 1000H as well, so far so good.

Em, i dont think you can get to look on the demo unit for Asus G50vt because not much retailer dare to bear the risk of keeping this model just to demo it. sweat.gif

i heard my friend said Asus is good brand and i wanna ask any Model laptop is for gaming? i going to buy soon in this week  Budge around 3.5k-4k
*
Hi, for gaming,
if you want better interms of graphic wise,
X59SR would be highly recommended.

If you want better in terms of processing speed,
F8vr, M51vr would be highly recommended.

Well, if possible, buy Corsair Gaming laptop RAM if you want better in terms of performance.
Market price around RM100 per stick.

QUOTE(neo_lam @ Jan 18 2009, 12:08 AM)
guys....i am using Asus F8Sn and my window cant recognise my built-in webcam.....i try install all the driver avalaible but all turn out failed....
can u guys teach me how to solve it??
*
Sometimes, it's due to some of the software that you installed conflict with the webcam software/driver.
Nomatter how you reinstall the driver, it will be the same unless you uninstall that particular software which has blocked ur webcam.
You can try to uninstall some of the program like Antivirus and Codec pack
See whether it can solve ur problem or not.
No idea what software you installed in your laptop, hope it can help.

QUOTE(f4tE @ Jan 18 2009, 12:14 AM)
f6 and f8 about same price right? which 1 better for gaming?
*
Well,
Price differs by RM 150 like that,
Seldom got people want to buy F6 for gaming purposes.
Normally people will chose between M51vr and F8vr.
Either Altec lansing speaker or normal speaker.
Either full Keyboard or normal keyboard.

but ram wise, not really important in laptops eh, since sometimes it depends on the bios =.="
*
Haha, i dont know much about ram,
just that most of my customer will purposely change all the ram into gaming ram when they purchase F8vr or M51vr from me.
Well, for better gaming experience,
mostly people won't go for Bios update unless it's necessary for them to do so.

sorry Perfect-Stranger i dunno wat is Corsair Gaming laptop RAM  izzit the 4Gb ram in the F8Vr latop change to it? sry i m newbie bout it hope to noe more abit

Added on January 18, 2009, 3:40 amthat means if i buy a new F8 included changing 4gb Corsair Gaming laptop RAM then would b how much?when buying new change together got cheaper? coz i dun wan the original 1
*
Well, it's an option for user to decide whether they want to change every single RAM inside their laptop into Gaming ram.
Means your laptop originally comes with 4gb OEM RAM, and you are paying more inorder to change the current ram into gaming ram.
Yeap, normally if you buy together with extra gaming ram, seller normally will ask you to top up a little bit instead of paying the full amount of the price of the ram.
How much will it cost, mostly depands on how you nego with ur seller. smile.gif

QUOTE(Lacus @ Jan 18 2009, 05:18 AM)
well, imo..no point in getting gaming ram for laptops (well duh, i doubt it works since the user is unable to change the timing of the rams thus should have the same results as normal rams)
*
Hehehe, i never go into gaming ram that much, no idea.
It just that my company did put it for display and sell it whever there is a demand from customer. thumbup.gif

So I just want to check with you guys... is there an ASUS M50 selling for RM4588? Or around that range. Because the only one I could find is RM5988 which is way over my budget!!

Your help would be much appreciated, thank you.
