Welcome Hellguy into this forum with his G71 ! tongue.gif

QUOTE(class_sick @ Jan 23 2009, 03:40 PM)
not very sure how to describe that serial port.
normally my frenz n i call it as serial port.
it use to download data to ic by using micropy circuit.

http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=915471&hl=
my specific budget is about RM2200-RM2300.

specs target:
-2gb ram
-c2d 2.0ghz T5800 and above
-free dos
-good graphic card (can run smooth on software dat i mentioned above)
-15` or 14` doesnt matter happy.gif
-can extended warranty for 3 years.

thanks ya.
*
Well, with that budget, i will recommend F80Q.
Graphic wise, it uses Intel GMA 4500, in which the hyper memory for graphic will goes up to 1291mb memory when you added up to 3-4gb ram.

QUOTE(vamfire @ Jan 23 2009, 09:45 PM)
Wah, everyone here seems to own high end ASUS lappy...

I'm using ASUS A8Jc only, a bit crappy but ok le for travel  tongue.gif

But, i really respect the ASUS Service Centre at E-Gate, Penang

Recently, i sent my out-of-warranty lappy for repair due to broken hinges & guess what?

They repair the hinges & change the silver covers with no charge at all

HEHE, so damn happy until today...

Planning to upgrade to a better model this year,

Any suggestion? I want to use it for casual 3D gaming while travelling...  nod.gif
*
Since for travel use, then 14inches will do the job.

Hi,

Regarding the serial port, u can use usb to serial converter. Is widely available in electronic shops and it costs about rm50 to rm60. The serial port is used for rs232 communication(uses baud rate).

Good info bro blush.gif

QUOTE(hellguy @ Jan 24 2009, 07:58 PM)
Just got my Asus G71V last Wednesday, and I'm very happy with the outlook and performance. It's extremely fast and what I heard about other rumours of the fan sound is totally wrong. It's quiet and much better compare to my previous Lenovo Y300. The face recognition is faster, and require minimum of lighting to detect who am I and login accordingly (I had created 3 accounts with different pictures)

I got this lappy for RM8700 (after rejecting the free gifts - which I already have better items compare to the freebies) from Low Yat. Sales representative is very keen to explain all the benefits to me, even I'm not very expert on computer hardware.

Anyway, here is the spec of my G71V:
- Core 2 Duo T9400 2.53 Ghz
- 4GB DDR3 RAM 1066Mhz
- 1 TB HDD (2x 500GB)
- Nvidia GeForce 9700GT 512MB
- 17.1" WXUGA Full HD LCD (1920 x 1200)
- BluRay Combo Drive (BluRay - Read Only)
- Vista Ultimate 64bit
- 4 Altec Lansing Built-in speakers with subwoofer.

It also came with Razor mouse and backpacks which is cool and match with my lappy.

Generally, this is a good laptop for all purposes and it's highly recommended to anyone that like good design, quiet, cool and fast performance lappy.... icon_rolleyes.gif

Good review bro, i will pin it up =D rclxms.gif

help me pls, im dying over here  rclxub.gif
*
Well,
if size and weight is not an issue, then go for M51vr.
Full keyboard and altec lansing speaker icon_rolleyes.gif

QUOTE(Lacus @ Jan 26 2009, 12:41 AM)
over at LYP, depending on shops..most less than RM100 if not mistaken for addition warranty (but the warranty if not mistaken is by shop and not by asus)
*
Yeap, if the extended warranty only cost your around RM50-100, that one would be the warranty from ther shop.
Basically they will only cover the software part, not the hardware part. shakehead.gif

Haha, wow, i guess you are the only one who visited my shop for Asus laptop, others came and get their netbook nia. rclxms.gif

Bro, got ur sms today, well, dont worry, once service centre open on Monday or tuesday, then you can get it fixed at that point of time.

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Well, like what Lacus mentioned, you can always adjust your battery life by using Asus utility such as Power4Extreme.
Do remember one thing, High performance will automatically consumed more battery power.
Try to lower down ur brightness or switch it to power saving mode.

Dont worry bro.

lol thats why i am asking...since me buying new one is still 2-3 months away, so need to know whether at that time there will be new models...
and whats your recommendation?

for me, size doesn't matter, my budget is around the 2 models i mentioned (RM3500-3900), and i'm a uni student who wants a laptop that can support average gaming requirement...
*
Well, since the size of the laptop is not an issue for you, i would strongly recommend M51Vr.
Spec wise, full keyboard, altec lansing speaker, HD vision. flex.gif

QUOTE(jacksonyong @ Jan 30 2009, 01:44 PM)
Perfect stranger where is ur shop location and name ?

Wah behh tahan already laa can't wait for the M50VN

I just called some ASUS Dealer talked to him but duno whether its you anot haha
*
Lacus adi mentioned in his post.
No worries bro, most of the dealers dont have the stock yet.
You should be happy, asus lappy is like this, they wil not change the model name, but they will update the spec for that particular model and selling at the same price when there is a new stock.
laugh.gif

QUOTE(class_sick @ Jan 31 2009, 03:37 PM)
lacus,what happen to ur lappy?
curious to know happy.gif

want to ask.
for graphic, which one is more better between graphic with dedicated memory and graphic that can share up memory with ram?
for example ATI Mobility Radeon X2300 graphics with 128 MB dedicated video memory and Nvidia GeForce 8200MG - shared up to 895MB.

thanks
*
Hi, mostly people will go for dedicated graphic memory GC rather than integrated graphic which share up memory with the ram.

Hi, It's recommended for you to register through online.
That people said so, because customer might face lots of problem when comes to register their laptop thru online. Eg, Asus website loading speed sux, take longer time to load compared to other website and blablabla.

Well, in oversea, if you jz bring ur receipt to claim for warranty, they will not accept it, they will ask you to register first online, then only they will fix it for you.

Just bought Asus F6 from C-Comp as get quite a good package.

RM4050 with free upgrade to 4GB DDR2 ram and 320Gb Hdd with C2D8600. Other free stuff is Asus original mouse, Asus laptop bag, keyboard protector, Earpiece with Mic and its with the package of Laptop Cooler for Coolermaster infiniti. Is this a good bargain ?

Happy with it as its very fast and first time i used any laptop with 4.0 cert for Vista. lolx. Maybe I'm too outdated.

Anyone got any comment on what to modify as I wanna uninstall the norton.
*
Er,
F6V comes with 4GB RAM together with the laptop.
Well, normal price selling at RM3988, how come you need to pay another RM50 ?
smile.gif

Well, uninstall norton is a wise choice laugh.gif
Other than that, you can also disable your user control (UAC) which wil make it faster.

Hey guys

Just purchased my new Asus laptop from Perfect_stranger a few days ago from Lowyat Plaza

Was a good and smooth deal ! Will recommend anyone who is interested in Asus laptops and residing in KL to deal with him !

Purchased a M50Vn, specs stated earlier and I will come up with a review soon.
Btw I wanna ask, do I need to install the latest BIOS from Asus website and install ?

Hi, thanks ya blush.gif
Nice dealing with you too ^^ rclxms.gif
Well, no need to install the latest BIOS from Asus website UNLESS you failed to install some of the new program.

QUOTE(namh @ Feb 6 2009, 11:14 PM)
Hi..

i have budget around RM2500, and from the pricelist, i see Asus F5GL fit my budget (RM2599).. but, i'am more interested with Asus X59SL (RM2999) as it comes with ATI 3470 with dedicated RAM, compare to F5GL Nvidia 8200.. Furthermore, X59SL come with Vista Home Premium..

my question here.. can i buy X59SL without Vista, means come with Freedos.. so that i will spend less for it.. because i will use it with Vista business (need to have remote desktop for my work)..

another thing, can use credit card to buy the notebook? because i saw some brochure stated 0% interest 12month installment.. any additional charge or T&C?

Thank you..
*
Hi, you cant buy X59SL without Window Vista.
Yes, you can buy it by using credit card, but most of the seller prefer cash and carry.
Well, installment plan / easy payment all depands on seller themselves whether they provide this kind of service or not.

QUOTE(class_sick @ Feb 7 2009, 07:30 PM)
for new laptop, did asus provide the installation@driver cd or not?

Yes, for free dos laptop, drivers and software CD comes together inside the box.

Added on February 8, 2009, 11:51 pmYes, no worries, can claim warranty.
I would advise you to call them up and ask them to prepare the parts before you go there.

Wow disaster !! ><
Okay, I've seen much severe cases.
Nothing to worry about, just call them up and tell them your problem.
Ask them to prepare the casing itself and ask when they can get the casing.
After that only go and look for them

Added on February 9, 2009, 12:02 amWhat i can see from the picture, the hinge is the major factor.
But anyhow you need to have a new case, isn't it ?
No need to go back TIMESLESS, they can't do anything.
They will jz help you to send it for warranty claim. But trust me, i believe they wil ask you to go yourself.

Yes, jz opposite Times Square and near to Sg Wang and Lowyat plaza.
