-free dos
-good graphic card (can run smooth on software dat i mentioned above)

But, i really respect the ASUS Service Centre at E-Gate, Penang

Recently, i sent my out-of-warranty lappy for repair due to broken hinges & guess what?

They repair the hinges & change the silver covers with no charge at all

Regarding the serial port, u can use usb to serial converter. Is widely available in electronic shops and it costs about rm50 to rm60. The serial port is used for rs232 communication(uses baud rate).

Just got my Asus G71V last Wednesday, and I'm very happy with the outlook and performance. It's extremely fast and what I heard about other rumours of the fan sound is totally wrong. It's quiet and much better compare to my previous Lenovo Y300. The face recognition is faster, and require minimum of lighting to detect who am I and login accordingly (I had created 3 accounts with different pictures)

I got this lappy for RM8700 (after rejecting the free gifts - which I already have better items compare to the freebies) from Low Yat. Sales representative is very keen to explain all the benefits to me, even I'm not very expert on computer hardware.

Anyway, here is the spec of my G71V:
- Core 2 Duo T9400 2.53 Ghz
- 4GB DDR3 RAM 1066Mhz
- 1 TB HDD (2x 500GB)
- Nvidia GeForce 9700GT 512MB
- 17.1" WXUGA Full HD LCD (1920 x 1200)
- BluRay Combo Drive (BluRay - Read Only)
- Vista Ultimate 64bit
- 4 Altec Lansing Built-in speakers with subwoofer.

It also came with Razor mouse and backpacks which is cool and match with my lappy.

Generally, this is a good laptop for all purposes and it's highly recommended to anyone that like good design, quiet, cool and fast performance lappy....

over at LYP, depending on shops..most less than RM100 if not mistaken for addition warranty (but the warranty if not mistaken is by shop and not by asus)

the shop(at lyp) i got my G50 charge around 50++ for extra insurance for extra year and YES it includes hardware to a certain amount though (which should be sufficient i might say)........

lol thats why i am asking...since me buying new one is still 2-3 months away, so need to know whether at that time there will be new models...
and whats your recommendation?

for me, size doesn't matter, my budget is around the 2 models i mentioned (RM3500-3900), and i'm a uni student who wants a laptop that can support average gaming requirement...

I'm own the X59 SR. Actually I don't install anything. The guy from the shop help me to install something when I went to get the Lappy. I thought he did everything for me? Do I still need to install the CD after that? Sorry, I really blur about lappy. Cause I though, for laptop, the shop do all the installation for u. Correct me if I wrong.

Just bought Asus F6 from C-Comp as get quite a good package.

RM4050 with free upgrade to 4GB DDR2 ram and 320Gb Hdd with C2D8600. Other free stuff is Asus original mouse, Asus laptop bag, keyboard protector, Earpiece with Mic and its with the package of Laptop Cooler for Coolermaster infiniti. Is this a good bargain ?

Happy with it as its very fast and first time i used any laptop with 4.0 cert for Vista. lolx. Maybe I'm too outdated.

i have budget around RM2500, and from the pricelist, i see Asus F5GL fit my budget (RM2599).. but, i'am more interested with Asus X59SL (RM2999) as it comes with ATI 3470 with dedicated RAM, compare to F5GL Nvidia 8200.. Furthermore, X59SL come with Vista Home Premium..

my question here.. can i buy X59SL without Vista, means come with Freedos.. so that i will spend less for it.. because i will use it with Vista business (need to have remote desktop for my work)..

another thing, can use credit card to buy the notebook? because i saw some brochure stated 0% interest 12month installment.. any additional charge or T&C?

for new laptop,did asus provide the installation@driver cd or not?

In the progress of installing window xp into my Asus X50GL series, i encountered a problem that stops my installation.

The message pop up

"An error has been encountered that prevents Setup from continuing."

One of the components that windows needs to continue setup cannt be installed.

The request cannot be performed because of an I/O device error.

Press OK to view the setup log file.

How to fix this problem ?

i realise my M51v the "push" button to open the lid is a bit rosak.. when i close the lid fully and press the push button to open it, its kinda stuck to open the lid (the push button i press till very in liao) any idea wat is the cause? can this prob be repaired?
