Bought myself a G50 the week following PC FAIR.

It gets 5717 at 1280x1024 - Unfortunately I didn't save the results nor prtscrn.

Quality wise - quite ok. Got a loose wi-fi on/off button. But thats about it.

Crysis on 1024x768 all high is quite ok. Not super smooth but quite acceptable.

Gears of war at 1024x768 all high, texture on highest only lags during the intermission to sequenced events.

Assassins Creed on 1024x768 all high except multisampling on low - smooth lags abit when you change camera angles wtih lots of people and shadows.

UT3 at 1024x768 Screen % 100 and everthing turned up is smooth. It lags a bit before it starts.

Fallout 3 - Texture high and all the fades at mid-point settings smooth. Except when you turn the camera too fast or alot lighting effects are taking place.

Hard drives - 2 partitions on each of the 320GB drive.

Bought it for RM 6840.

Got all the PC fair extras, plus the backpack and a Razer Copperhead (branded ASUS-retails for RM219)

Just got my Asus G71V last Wednesday, and I'm very happy with the outlook and performance. It's extremely fast and what I heard about other rumours of the fan sound is totally wrong. It's quiet and much better compare to my previous Lenovo Y300. The face recognition is faster, and require minimum of lighting to detect who am I and login accordingly (I had created 3 accounts with different pictures)

I got this lappy for RM8700 (after rejecting the free gifts - which I already have better items compare to the freebies) from Low Yat. Sales representative is very keen to explain all the benefits to me, even I'm not very expert on computer hardware.

Anyway, here is the spec of my G71V:

I'm really satisfied about this laptop, it brings me to the new era of the computing experience, so far until this time got no problem except the virus attack and format windows. It works fine. Wahahhaa! Geng lar N51VF! Play DMC4 and Need For Speed Undercover with full quality like kacang only T9550 processor and 1GB VRAM graphic card is awesome! It runs Autodesk Maya without any lag also   But hard to find wallpaper for it because it's screen resolution is bigger than normal 

Just started to enjoy it from this moning... yesterday came back from muar pc-fair, after bath slept straight

Haven try the blu-ray rom yet but will try it soon, tomorrow go sony centre borrow 1 from my friend who is working there

the quality built of this lappy is actually quite sturdy n looks to "built to last". the whole laptop built is nice, nothing flimsy or out of place. good quality material. and ther's a firm typing feel to the keyboard which is nice....
the left & right click keys on the touch pad seems to be too firm, and needs some time to soften up...

the 14.1' WXGA (LED) screen is pure sunlight .... its so bright and vibrant that i have to lower down the brightness. its a great screen to have for gaming / entertainment.
one think bout this WXGA is.... ermmmm... the reso goes 1366 x 768. errmm... its one of the new trends for HD TV nowadays.... but still its... kinda hard to find a right size wallpaper for this reso. but overall, you will notice that your windows will look more fine than the previous norm of 1280 x 768.

the body built and design is actually sumwhat thinker than other 14.1' laptops. jus a few mm thicker, but from the sight or carry/handling feel. you will notice a significant difference. but the weight for this babe is still the same with similar 14.1' or 13' models (considerably light for its thickness n size)....

the proc is .... 2 words - RAW POWER!!!!
practically... i havent experience any slowdowns or lag or wat so ever so far....
the hardware that you're getting for this price is AWESOME. The processor really takes care of bidness and the graphics are sweet too. Everything runs smoothly once you get past the initial booting and first-time loading.
smooth gaming and entertainment, movie playbacks... and MULTIPLE MULTI-tasking!!!!

The biggest point would have to be that the OS is Vista 32 bit but the comp is loaded with 4GB RAM. Don't understand why but Vista seems to be doing this quite often.
and the disapointment comes from vista as well. the OS seems to crash with most of the well-known antivirus/internet security programs. its simply causes the windows to start up slower. problem solve when no antivirus is installled(which leaves my windows unprotected)?

the built in altec lansing speakers are fine, though mayb too soft at times even when volume set at max.
possible problem caused by the possition of the speakers at the front(bottom) of the laptop.

no dedicated multimedia/hardware keys. wherby most laptops at this pricing now have already advance to touch-sensitive hardware keys. its no big deal for me. but it could be a bonus for many other...

Pros:
* awesome hardware for the buck (this baby is fast, dedicated graphics card surely makes a difference)
* Nice Led screen, so bright I have to dim it
* considerably LIGHT notebook for the size, I had a 12" before of the same weight
* spill-proof keyboard (haven't had a chance to test yet tho)
* sturdy, well-built laptop
* fine finishes, big-keys and good layout keyboard, nice to touch
* okay okay battery life
* 2yrs warranty. sweet-sweet deal

Cons:
* 32-bit Vista. Vista period, but the choice of 32-bit really puzzles me. It doesn't even recognize 4 gig of RAM. I dont get why put 4Gram and 64-bit proc together and then limit it by 32-bit OS, simply dont get it.
* no quick-access multimedia keys, as mentioned earlier, no biggie tho.
* drivers for the fingerprint reader need to be sought out on the ASUS website ?!?!?!?! i wonder???

Other Thoughts: Overall, this is a really great notebook for a wide range of uses. Whether the use is for a student, business, or just for fun - it can handle it all. The build is what really got me - it's a solid 14.1" that does not feel cheap but is not 1000 lbs. either. Really nice. The price only makes this an easier choice.

It's been almost 1 week since I got this little monster. On paper, this laptop is on par with many of the bigger laptops in the market. Though Asus market it as a Performance Multimedia laptop, I believe no one will object if it's sold as a Gaming laptop instead. It probably has the highest spec in the whole N series of laptop offered by Asus, and also as a 14" as well.

Drivers used are from the driver disc provided.

So as you can see, the benchmark is pretty impressive. So far I have tried running World in Conflict and L4D on the laptop only. In WiC, at Very High setting and DX10 at native resolution, the result is avg 15fps, min 6, max 18, ecent for a laptop of this size. For L4D, I can max out all the settings including AA and AF without any notiable lag, same goes for even if I play in windowed mode.

Expandability is not a problem. Comes with 5 USB ports (2 right, 2 back, 1 left), 1 eSata port (back), 1 4-pin IEEE 1394 port (left), Mic In and Sound out (left), 1 HDMI and 1 VGA (back), 1 LAN port and 1 modem port (back), card reader (left) and ExpressCard (left).

The build quality is solid. Though the chasis is plastic, I don't feel any heat coming from the palm rest even when running games. The area near the air vent on the right, however, would conduct some of the heat to the chasis, though not very significantly. Closing the laptop and holding it with one hand would not see it bend even with a weight of 2.5kg with batery. Heat control is pretty well done, as you can see from the screenshot of 3D Mark 06.

The keyboard is quiet to type on, though it may be a bit soft for some. Touchpaq is large and smooth to slide, and it can auto disable itself (thru driver) when you plug in a mouse. The buttons, however, is relatively hard to press and produces a rather loud "click" sound.

The battery is rated at 11.1V, 4800mAh, 53Wh. Battery life is rather short, on reviews it's abt 2hrs 20min to 2hrs 30mins. I myself with the use of Power4Gear Hybrid power management software and some tweaking can get me close to 3hrs. This is sort of expected for such powerful hardware, though I have expected a bit more.

Some of you may have noticed that the wireless adpater used is not an Intel WiFi Link product, it's from Atheros instead. So this has made the laptop not a Centrino 2 product. To me, however, is not a very big problem, as long as it can connect to the routers without much issues, it's fine with me. (GPU and CPU more important to me... )

So, here's my mini review. Do leave a note if you guys want to know more.

Hi! I have search over the forum and I couldn't find any info on Asus F5GL. As I see in the brochures, it only costs RM 2599 with the following specs:
