QUOTE(dwin95 @ Feb 24 2012, 10:46 PM) Hi there, do you guys think it will be a smart idea if I take my dad's suit which is waay oversized for me and tailor it? Its quite a nice piece of double breasted navy suit and he got it done at about 1k maybe about a decade back? Were fabrics cheaper last time? If its possible for you guys, estimate what would be the value of the suit right now? Yall' would probably tell me to decide myself on weather i should or should not tailor the suit but there is one thing, im only 17 and im afraid what if, what if growth decides to be an ******* and maybe start growing again after I got the suit altered? Is it possible to 'un-alter' the suit? Thank you! Try posting up a pic of u wearing ur dads suit for us to judge and give opinion on?

I am looking for tailors around Klang Valley that can made long sleeve working shirts for RM100 including workmanship and material.
I did find a tailor in Ferringi, Penang that managed to made 2 shirts for RM160 and ships it over to KL. Unfortunately, it was slightly big and I wish that it will be smaller (fitter).
I am just trying my luck to see if anyone knows any Tailors that does it at that price =D If not I guess I have to make another trip down to penang ..
BTW I am not looking for the BEST tailor. An average joe that can deliver, and I am sure over time He knows what kinda cutting I want.

QUOTE(adkins981 @ Feb 23 2012, 06:36 PM) Yeap, is it a shop name or a store?? If its a store may i know where is it located? i prefer to go into a store to take a look as i wanna feel the material before purchasing it Acorn is a brand. As for feeling the material, I was once told... most of the time if u "feel" the cloth, you will end up picking the wrong ones i.e. most is not experienced enough to make the right choice by feel alone This post has been edited by MeToo: Feb 28 2012, 05:39 PM

just walk into any tailor's shop and see how the tailor himself is dressed. if you approve, then make 1 test pair.
a long time ago i made the mistake of going to a really old tailor who was dressed like it was the 80s. he made me what must be the baggiest suit ever.
of course there are old tailors who dress in clothes that look like they were made in the 80s but can make really nice stuff, but without a recommendation it is going to be hard for you to find this out.

For low waist , you need lower front and back rise. The thigh area measurement should be around 22-24 inch and at least 14 inch for the bottom leg opening. The point is, communicate to them what you want.

I'm sorry to say this, but the fault is not solely with the tailor. There are fitting sessions, there are dialogues with the tailor on what you want etc. If the workmanship is bad, then its probably the tailor's lack of skill. But generally I notice the majority of those going for a "bespoke" shirt/suit dont really know what they want, or lack the skills to communicate it effectively to the tailor. If that is the case... pls find a VERY good tailor who can read your mind

A good tailor should b able to read ur mind in some way or ask questions to for a suit should be done for the customer..
