My tailor is actually like my doctor, when my clothes feel ill-fitting, I consult my tailor.. The fact is actually clothes off-the-rack are made to fit a mannequin, and every person's body is shaped differently..

I have altered practically every clothing article from t-shirts, polo-t's, short pants, jeans, khakis, dress shirts, and sportsjackets..

How much does an alteration usually cost?
Like for example... I have a dress shirt that is too long and I want to make it shorter...
*
"dress shirt too long" as in the body length of the shirt? the issue in a dress shirt is not too much about the body length as they are meant to be tucked in.. but if they ARE too long, then im assuming that they are far off your correct size..

however if u are talking about the sleeves of the dress shirt being too long, then that would cost u about RM30 to shorten from an expert tailor..

hi jind86, i would like to alter some of my shirts and polo T but I have no clue which tailor should i look for. would you mind sharing your tailor with me?
*
yeah sure no problem, my tailor is Ruth's at KLCC, it is on the ground floor below the Louis Vuitton store.. you can look for Ruth herself, or if not look for her son Vincent.. the price is a little more than regular tailor stores but they have served me well.. ALWAYS ALWAYS try on your clothes after the alterations have been done, and if for example you feel that the pant/shirt length is not short enough etc, do let them know so they can redo it, they wont double charge..

ive actually went around finding tailors to bring in the shoulders of my jacket, however no one was good enough.. i even went to Lord's but they were not able to do so.. the only place who was able to fulfill my request is my current tailor - Ruth's alteration..

shoulders = RM50
sleeve = RM60

Cost of altering is enough to buy a new shirt for me. -.-"
so i dun alter. i'm currently going for style under a budget. quite sad really.
if it dun fit, i dun buy it.
unless i can find a cheap taylor that alters clothes.. then might be a diff story...
anyone knows any cheap taylors that can alter clothings cheap?
*
yupp actually sometimes altering can cost quite abit.. of course i do not buy clothes that do not fit, take a dress shirt for example, they may fit good on the body but the sleeve length would always be too long for me.. therefore the length has to be shortened.. all my dress shirts are altered to the same length.. same goes with my suit jackets.. i measure my shirts according to my suit jackets as well, they are half an inch longer than my suit jackets so a little shirt cuff will be displayed when i wear the jacket..

im not too sure about cheap tailors, im sure there exist, but the question you shld also ask is are they good?

Spark Manshop. Pricing and quality, depends on the cotton quality and type of cotton. Design eh, suit. Workmanship, great, pro tailor and advice and explanation about quality and type given.
Located at The Gardens, Isetan third floor and Sogo. I only know this 2.
*
from my experience, spark manshop tailors are only trying to push on sales and they would do and say whatever just to sell.. but hey maybe it was just that particular tailors i encounted or maybe my luck is bad with them.. what would be better is give the name of your spark manshop tailor to TS so at least he knows specifically who to look for which provides good service..

Good Price! I asked an alteration shop inside Endah Parade in Sri Petaling and they quote me RM80 for shoulders only!
*
do take note that the quoted price is for jackets and not t-shirts/dress shirts.. t-shirts and dress shirts would cost less.. just thought i'd state this in the case that there are any confusion..

you are able to alter a blazer, but there's a limit (similar with any other clothing).. if it is way bigger than your size then probably nothing can be done.. post up a picture of you wearing the blazer in the Suit thread and we will take a look..

guys wanna ask something... if a tshirt is too long, and you decided to go alter the length, will it really look funny?
*
length of the body? well it depends on the shirt, if it is too wide and you alter it too short then it would appear fat and wide.. well i cant exactly answer your question as no details are given.. it is like me simply asking "if i buy a size S shirt, will it look weird on me?"..

Hi Guys,

I would like to suggest this tailors;

Binwani's @ The Curve, I have been tailoring from them for quite sometime and I would say they are the best so far I ever had I have tried Lords, Fox, tux and blazers etc etc. Binwani's are quite pricey but their customer service and tailoring makes up for the price. they really listen and give sugesstion before making you anything. I would say if you like bespoke tailorng try them.
Pricing from RM 400 for pants and  Suits RM 2000 onwards, shirts from RM 200 onwards.
*
hi thanks for sharing, is this tailor recommended for getting custom made clothing done or also for alteration purposes as well?
