I have relatives and friends who goes to Bangkok to get tailor-made clothes... other than on holidays. Indeed they are really cheap compared to the ones over here. But what amazed me the most is the speed of delivery. Bare in mind that they are there for holidays and they are able to collect their orders within few days just in time to travel back home.

Sorry bro. Can't help you much in this matter as they didn't tell me where they got it from nor I asked them for it.

Anyway, there's always the internet for you to look out for. biggrin.gif

Oh... you can checkout Travel & Living section. There's Bangkok thread. Maybe you can ask for more info over there.

Actually instead of good/fast/cheap... maybe you should be concern about fit/quality? Otherwise what is the use of a tailored shirt if the fit is goign to end up like what you buy from padini?

I'm pretty sure that you know what type of fitting you like and as how to convey your style to the tailor. No? Besides, they are tailors and I'm sure they know what they are doing. smile.gif

im pretty sure that if you've followed this thread for a while you'd know that just by knowing what you want and being able to convey it to your tailor is insufficient.

plus, you should know that the skill level of tailors in Malaysia, (as Kotmj likes to say it) are below moderate.

and im quite positive that you'd still need to go for fittings even if you bespeak your shirts at Saville Row.

There have been many instances on this thread and on this forum where a tailor made shirt fits worse than something from uniqlo. Don't believe it?

Totally agree.

With RTW (Ready to wear) you get what you see (& fit )

With Bespoke , the item in question can fit better in the hands of a skilled artisan. It can also be a sartorial disaster in the hands of a novice. The only problem is, you will find out how it will turn out sometime down the road when the item is ready for delivery.

agree too, just get my tailored trousers and found that the cutting is not the one i desire for, even the length and waist is perfect, and i cannot say i reject that.

As my body is in the normal size, so is not difficult for me to get the cloths which can fit me well. For trousers i will still go for tailored, but not for dress shirts, bcs the details need to know of a shirts is a lot, include the printed pattern, fabric type, minor design.... some looks good in sample but not necessary great in finished shirts.

guys, i was given some shirts and although the shoulder seams are aligned well with mine, the sides (around tummy area) are rather large and I need to get it smaller to have a proper fit.

can tailors do these types of altering? what are these types of altering called?

by sides i mean the cloth under my sleeves are too wide and it looks like my tummy area is very big. i need to trim the cloth down.

the design on the clothes are stripes and checkered, respectively.

do let me know, thanks!

I'm afraid the sleeve holes will not be alterable. It can be enlarged but cannot be reduced.

Enlarged? How much extra fabric can you find in a shirt?

By default, the alterationist will take in the side body seam all the way down to the sleeves, resulting in a smaller armhole, but never to be overdone.
