i actually use Avene Diacneal up to two times a day, i don't really get any "side effects" other than a little dry skin..
actually to be honest, ive not even used sunscreen, only moisturizer.. is it that necessary as im hardly exposed to direct sunlight..
anyway since i'll be visiting out today, i found a sunscreen moisturizer SPF15, so i apply the same way right? diacneal, and after half an hour, sunscreen moisturizer..

Same here man other than a little breakouts I get no major side effects. I'm actually forcing myself to use sunscreen as it will make Diacneal more effective. Currently using Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry Touch SPF50...RM35 for 88ml. This is de best so far as the others I have tried make my face shiny n sticky. SPF15 is very minimal and its recommended that ppl that are currently using chemical peels like Diacneal to use a min of SPF50. Sunlight especially in a tropical country lie msia still goes through the windows. SPF15 is alright for indoors but if u go out u will need something higher. I have not used Diacneal in the day before as the less things applied in combo with it the more effective it will be. But yeah should be correct, diacneal than sunscreen moisturizer.

Just to share...
I have very oily skin especially in the t zone area and I have tried many types of oil control moisturizers and products. Stopping short of using foundation powder. Garnier, Neutrogena, Clinique, Biotherm...I have tried all the oil control stuff from them and none worked very well. So I did some research and found a lot of good reviews about Clarins Men Anti Shine Gel. Retails for a pricey RM147 (50ml) but it really works. I was skeptical about all these oil control products after trying out so many. But this Clarins Men product controls oil for a good 5-6 hours but my skin is not dry instead it is very nicely hydrated. There's no 100% oil control but Clarins comes close.
So for any of u guys looking for something to control oil, give Clarins Men Anti Shine Gel a try. I only use it on my t zone because of the price.
I must stress that Clarins did not pay me a cent to post this LOL. I wish they will...a few samples would be nice too haha.

Anyone used the Shiseido Men Hydrating Lotion before ? It's something of a toner/moisturizer in one. Please leave some feedback.
I received a sample of the Shiseido Men Cleansing Foam and was very impressed with it. So now I am interested at other Shiseido Men products.

I have oily t-zone and been using Nutritious Purifying 2-in-1 Foam Cleanser (Estee Lauder) since mid of last year. The foam is very fine and creamy, and after washing will not feel tight or dry. I learned to stay away from those cleansers which are strong (usually for oily skins). You will feel clean after washing but not for long the face tends to feel dry, as a result more facial oil is produced.
For toner, I am using Optimizer Pore Minimizing Boosting Lotion (Estee Lauder). Its a bit like gel in a very watery form. Face feeling relaxed and hydrated after applied.
For moisturiser, I am using Hydra Complete Multi-Level Moisture Lotion (Estee Lauder). It's very light and non oily. The thing i noticed is after using this moisturiser, my face is evenly hydrated, no more oily skin where I can fry an egg with it ;-D
That's the basic 3 steps I am using. Got other products also am using now (from Estee too) but lazy to review ;-p
Prior this am using Clarins Men and Biotherm Men, but not satisfied with the products. For me skin care products can be for men / for ladies, as long as the result is good then it's the one that I will be using.

What I advice you guys is don't spend immediately on high range skin care product. Go to any drugstore and get some cheap range skin care first (range from rm5-20++ perhaps). Heck if it works well, continue using it and spend the remaining cash on electronic gadgets =P
Don't get the whole set, try one by one, esp the cleanser... its one of the main things to judge the product. However, if you are in luck to stumble upon travel packs in mini sizes, those are very good trial sets because its in small amount and cheap to try. Get them to test. But of course try it one product at a time. Eg try the cleanser first... if everything goes well for 1-2 weeks, add in toner...then repeat again for moisturizer.
Special note for moisturizers: Usually in pharmacies you will see them having testers... those are good chance to test them... not on your face, but on ure hands. Put a bit on your hands and rub to see if you are allergic to it, eg any signs of itchiness, redness or burning sensation...if they do occur, throw it aside... its not compatible with your skin! Ive tried those so called good brands of loreal, nivea, and garnier... but they are usually either greasy, leaving some crystal residue(which is very bad) or worst...causes itchiness on my skin(nivea!). If after one week using your newly bought moisturiser causes you to get more small white spots, stop using it immediately, those are most likely comedones, clogged pores that would eventually turn to pimples.
Choosing the right product for your skin condition: If you are very sure of your skin type being oily, use those oily range products. If you are unsure, choose the basic skin care range, or combination skin type. If you have no idea at all, I advice you guys trying the mildest range first, that is the sensitive range. Why? Its better to treat your skin with much gentle than to punish it directly with harsh chemicals. You guys would be surprise with what shit they add in your cleansers toners and moisturisers lol.
TIPS: Choosing product is often annoying, as you are unsure with what to go for, but one rule of thumb is choose products with much less ingredients. Reason is, the more ingredients, the more probability that ingredient might be incompatible with your skin. Give the brand SIMPLE or CETAPHIL a try. Their list of ingredients are much less than what you find in loreal crap for men, nivea nonsense for men etc. You'll be surprised that such less ingredient products would work much better than the latter.
It doesnt matter if you are using mens or womens range. They are all the same: skin care products. But one thing in mind is, skin care is a very subjective thing to individuals. One product might work for you but might not work for others. Don't be stubburn to change if it doesnt work on you, because the longer you use, the more damage it brings to your skin.
Btw, I'm currently using simple refreshing wash gel. No complains so far =)

For me skin care products can be for men / for ladies, as long as the result is good then it's the one that I will be using. I certainly do agree with you that when the face is properly hydrated, the body will regulate the oil levels. That's why i looking for products that don't say oil control. These products strips the skin of all oils and the results is even more oil produced by the face. I finally realised this after using the Shiseido Men Cleansing Foam. shiseido SAs keep telling that the toning lotion will be good for me as my skin is oily but I think I'll just go with the Hydrating Lotion as it would be a good toner cum moisturizer. I am currently using Biotherm and I find their products quite harsh and too much fragrance. Results are minimal. Clarins Men I only like the Anti Shine Gel because it works but too pricey. Thanks for the advice n feedback ! @kaspersky-fan, I have tried a lot of the regular pharmacy stuff and so far only Avene has impressed me with their affordable prices and skin friendly products. Cetaphil and Simple didn't work for me as they were too light to cleanse my face properly. I used Cetaphil cleansers for 2 years straight. I still use Simple but only the facial wash gel. So far the worst pharmacy product I have come across and used is the Garnier Men Turbo Light Oil Control Moisturizer. The ingredients on the box showed a lot of promise but when I applied on my skin it felt powdery and sticky. The powder they used to control oil really clogged up my pores and broke me out real bad. Of course if I can save money with cheap facial products I will be happy but so far like I said nothing worked. Thanks for the advice ! This post has been edited by jonny4: Feb 21 2010, 05:04 PM

Not that I'm bias, but I never liked Loreal products...any kind that is, from loreal men to garnier to biotherm and to lancome.... somehow their products just doesnt suit me... so... i've made a very simple rule for myself, that is to ban all loreal division products lol... im too lazy to try it already I've only recently started testing out regular drugstore skincare..because i lost confidence with higher price skin care stuff ever since discovering cetaphil and simple products.

I used to have a lot of acne, nothing would help, I resolved to going to the skin doctor and getting medicine in pill form... (hardcore, I know) Its helped a lot but it makes my lips f***ING DRY. Thank god I'm currently single. :-p
Btw, anyone here use proactiv? I have an extra set lying around that I should probably get rid of.

I got to agree that stuff from the L'oreal division is too highly fragranced. The first few times its nice and refreshing but after a few weeks the strong fragrance can get really nauseating. But good to hear the cheaper stuff are working for you.
