I think with that price range most would recommend Audio Technica ATH-M30 which is selling at RM220 in Akabane@DrJackel's bulk.

ahh what about the warranty then?

this might change my mind bout getting a +/- rm300 headphone n purchase a crossroad bijou instead first, n buy the m50 later on when i have extra..

if can just save the money now and one shot get the best. this is what the other more experience audiophiles told me.
instead of lingering with those low-mid end choices, resist the temptation and save the money until can afford something above the mid-end level.
by that would usually mean one willing to spend >1k for audio gears. cool.gif

Just dropped by Moderno at SS15 today, I was considering either getting the SteelSeries 4H or Plantronics 367. Which is better in terms of sound quality?
*
neither are good choice if you're planning to use it for music listening. in terms of gaming had no idea sorry.

Audio Technica ATH-AD300 might be good for it's sound signature, but that's slightly above ur budget.
ATH-M30 is OK, sounded neutral overall, goes well with most genre of songs.

Why don't you try the Bulk section? There's a couple of forumers here that are selling Audio Technica headphones.
*
Yea i did actually. Apparently they only have SJ1 and SJ3 but no sign of SJ5.

What makes you say that? laugh.gif

I think there's no harm in trying a pair of good iem. And CrossRoads Bijou is not a bad choice to start. Then later you can search for a good headphone.

I myself is looking for a decent portable cans and find the SJ5 kinda interesting. But i've always wanted to try something like the Sennheiser PX100. =/
*
well, gonna need an IEM for the sports n gym, currently only got an ep-630

cant bring full-sized cans everywhere, no? biggrin.gif

although i'm having more dilemmas now..

shld i get an entry level IEM now n a say, midrange cans later on or just buy a more decent IEM right away?

QUOTE(wkyoong @ Jun 24 2009, 01:32 AM)
About the ATH SJ5. Anyone knows where to purchase them locally? Well besides Bluetin JP is there anywhere else? I asked Bluetin Sg but it seems that they do not have this item in their inventory. Advised me to go straight to Bluetin JP
*
pm this guy here, he's selling the SJ5 for about rm300. brows.gif

QUOTE(CarotMilk @ Jun 24 2009, 04:40 PM)
Full warranty of course. Jaben is well known to the audio-slaves in JB/SG. They are the Pros when it comes to headphones.

ahh more dilemmas indeed..

I think it depends on you really. And your budget.

Will you be satisfied with just only an iem? Or you the kinda person who likes to have both iem and cans?

If an iem only is enough for you and your budget allows then i guess you could get a more decent or higher end iem.

But if you want iem as well as cans and your budget is kinda tight, then i suggest you get a good entry level iem first. And get a decent cans later.

Hi, I was wondering, how is the Razer Moray?
I bought their old one the Razer ProTones m100 and I was quite satisfied with that one.

my 2 cents on the 2 Audio Technica choices listed.

AD700 is a great full-size headphone, it's a good choice if u can get one. do note that portability for it is almost nil due to it's large size.

ES7 is good in terms of sound quality and portability. recommend it if you wanted to bring it around and enjoys high Q music.

the other brands I'm not so familiar with their styles so better wait for other's answer for them. cool.gif

So your budget is RM500. That would put both of the Audio Technica cans out since both are well over RM500.

Alessandro MS1i
Audio technica AD700
Audio technica ES7
Beyer Dynamics DT440
Sennheiser HD555
Sennheiser HD414

Use for gaming and music listening. I think the MS1i is not really suitable for gaming, so

Alessandro MS1i
Audio technica AD700
Audio technica ES7
Beyer Dynamics DT440
Sennheiser HD555
Sennheiser HD414

So your only real choice for a budget of RM500 is between what's left in the list. And i'm speaking budget-wise of course.

I'm not sure about the Sennheisers but from what i've heard, the Beyer Dynamics DT440 is easy to drive and can sound good without amp.

I think the both the AD700 and DT440 price almost around RM500. Anyways I was looking a pair of nice headphones earlier this year for the same usage as yours, even the same budget at RM500 like yours laugh.gif

I was considering the AD700 initially as head-fi gave them nice reviews for the soundstage and the sound clarity. I ended up buying the DT440 as advised by bro yuheng and walabies and also after trying the MS1 and HD580 at yuheng's place, no regrets at all.....well maybe a little regret for not having enough budget for the DT990 biggrin.gif

I think DT440 would be the best choice for gaming and music purposes from the list. The sound presentation is really "fun" and it does have a really wide soundstage.. feels like being in an orchestra or concert, some people even call the Beyers "Groovalizers" biggrin.gif The only downside I think is its weight and the cups are a little shallow than what I liked.....I tried the DT880 and DT990, now those are reallllyyyyyyyy comfortable.

The DT440 is easily driven without an amp too with only 32ohm impedance, although it really sounds better with an amp.

Hope my comments would do some help.

So i narrow down my choice which left

Audio Technica ATH-AD700
BeyerDynamics DT440

and is it a must to have an amp to unleash the performance of the headset?
now i making decision between this two rclxms.gif
