i really thanks you all so much being drop by here and help me notworthy.gif
So i narrow down my choice which left

Audio Technica ATH-AD700
BeyerDynamics DT440

and is it a must to have an amp to unleash the performance of the headset?
now i making decision between this two rclxms.gif

A good amp can sure push a headphone to the next level. But it's up to you really.

Those cans already sound good without amp.

I got a KCS75 recently and burn in more than 100 hours but feel it is lack of bass to me (and me myself only).
I am thinking of getting another portable for outdoor/ office use and browsed through Head-Fi then short listed the following: PortaPro (~RM190), PX100 (~RM230), and K518DJ (~RM330). Among these seems like K518DJ is more high end from those reviews but it is also the most expensive of the three.
Since I felt the sound of KCS75 is not so suitable, do you think PortaPro or PX100 will suit me? Should I go a step further to the K518DJ? I will need to budget before buying the K518DJ. sad.gif
Thanks.

PortaPro and PX100 are both on the same platform with the KSC75 SQ wise in my opinion. Tried them all before but I have to say that sound leakage is gonna be a nightmare for outdoor/office use. Everyone near you will be able to listen to whatever u're listening to. Imagine yourself walking into a lift with your headphones on and everything goes quiet when the doors shut while Mariah Carey goes over the high pitches. *Glares from around*

Tried the K518dj too as my friend owns a pair. Have to say that it sounds great but long wearing comfort is questionable. It fits him perfectly unfortunately not for me as the headband seems to extend flat over the top and it presses onto my head. Probably its just the shape of my head. Besides that the K518dj sounds really really good. Would've gotten a pair if it wasn't for the headband issue.

Maybe one of the sifu's can recommend you a cheaper pair of headphones for outdoor/office use if the k518dj is out of your budget. But if you end up deciding on the K518dj u might wanna give it a try first to see if it fits you well

Thanks for the very enlightening points there. Is any local store selling K518DJ? Is it comfortable with glasses? Got any recommendation for an alternative?

AD700 can be abit bass anemic. I haveta say I was once a person who doesn't like the overwhelming presence of bass in my music (mind ya I still don't!), but seriously, I find the AD700 presentation abit strange due to the lack of bass. Doesn't gives you a good view/presentation of the lower range of the spectrum. Especially if you're listening to genres like pop, rock, and the such the lack-of-solidness in the lower range might turn you off a little, though I haveta say it sounds pretty nice with vocals and orchestra.

Sadly, haven't gotten the chance to try the DT440 yet so I can't comment on it. >_< But I advise you to actually give the DT440 a try. Hmmm... Either way, both choices are actually very good headphones for your money. smile.gif

Since Enigmatic said that the AD700 is pretty bass anemic and we gamers certainly want some bass in our games, don't we? biggrin.gif I guess the more suitable choice would be the DT440.

But I hope you have the chance to try them out first because its pretty heavy @ 320g and most of my friends would notice the weight of the cans first, especially girls laugh.gif The clamping force is pretty tight at first but you could stretch them to suit your headsize.

Edit : Oh, if you wanna try the difference between with amp and ampless then I think you could get a secondhand fiio e5 like what I did, for me I did heard some noticeble differences. Although I'm getting the secret amp soon, I suppose laugh.gif

@enigmatic
true,i do argee with u that the bass of the AD700 is not strong enough,i read a lot of reviews regarding that matter,but they say with a better sound card and an external amp (either one,amp is better move) it will boost the bass performance, and AD700 has very good vocal performance right?

@skyX
i dont found much about the DT440 in review, so i kinda scary about it, Grado MS1i is revamped edition of MS1,i'll take a look into it since walabies recommended me that one.
u think that one ok?

For my own preferences,

Bass 9/10
Vocal 8/10
Soundstage 9/10

I listen mostly to pop, orchestra and video game soundtracks. The bass amount is just nice for me since I'm not a basshead and I prefer the bass to not overwhelm other instruments, the vocal can sometime be too bright depending on the song, soundstage is like in a concert or orchestra if you have a good quality track biggrin.gif although those are just my personal preferences and can be subjective for other ppl. paiseh ya...I can't describe more about the sound quality as I'm also still newbish in giving a review on headphones laugh.gif
