For buses from Probolinggo to Cemero Lawang, read here...
http://2point8.blogspot.com/2010/11/java-trip-iii.html(note: info may not be up-to-date)
AFAIK, there is no public transport from Cemero Lawang to Bromo. You need to join a tour or hire a driver.
Already know this. Can walk actually, but if got time constraint, better hire ojek or take a tour

Okay. Thanks for the info. I will read it carefully.
Eh, not steam cakes (I simply say
). Its the steamed brownies. The signature dessert of Bandung (I think)
I see, where can I get these delicious cakes?
Btw, wanna ask u, how easy would it be for me to get to garut from bandung and back? Thinking of skipping tangkuban perahu/kawah putih for papandayan

Do you think I can just gamble for the accommodation there? Or its advisable to book a hotel/ room/ homestay via website a few months before? I ll be going on Sept. Not sure whether its in the peak season or not
Can't, don't think u can find any accommodation in cemero lawang online. Have to walk in and book yourself
Same with Sempol/Ijen (I'm more worried about not being able to get accommodation in sempol than cemero lawang though...)
