Just got this babies today. Could not resist. Wearing them around the house just to let it stretch out a little. Tighter around the legs compared to thin finn.

Btw, Merry Christmas jean freaks!
I doubt I'll be shopping for jeans tomorrow. More likely a good pair of brogues. Will be good to go with them jeans though Unless the boutique that stocks dior homme has boxing sales on them, which I doubt. |

@atta,
I'm in the phase of changing my entire wardrobe. I find, I have to up my shoe game sooner or later. Can't be sticking to my sports shoes anymore. Haha. I guess every male has to go through this phase sooner or later. And I like the look of brogues. I still can't see myself wearing cap-toed oxfords anytime soon. Besides, the brogues I've seen and tried on so far look great for casual wear, so I thought why not? @Layang@ Too bad selfedge.com isn't having any sales. I was digging the IHxSE ones. But out of sizes anyways. |

QUOTE(attacusatlas @ Dec 25 2010, 11:34 AM) He's DTOing you lah.Added on December 25, 2010, 1:55 pmI cannot help but see this super-tight raw selvedge denim jeans culture as an inevitably short-lived fad. When I was young, the hot thing to have was stone and enzyme washed 501s which you wore till holes developed in the knees. There were the straight cut and the carrot cut (now extinct). Parallel to that was the "faded blue jeans" look. Shops actually sold jeans washed till they were a pale blue. When I was looking for a pair of such jeans some time ago, I found they were extinct. Nobody sold pale blue jeans anymore. I had to source one from the kedai bundle. Next came rapper jeans. These are really loose and baggy jeans that you wore with T-shirts 3 sizes too big for you. A baseball cap worn backwards complete the look. Shortly after that came the "engineered" jeans. These are jeans with gratuitiously complex cuts and seams at unexpected places. A few years after that came the Evisu revolution and the rise of the selvedge jeans. The early models fit like conventional trousers, but the current fashion is to downsize till a phenomenon called "crotch bust" occurs every so often. I wonder what will be next. Added on December 25, 2010, 4:55 pmLet me speculate on what will be next. We have seen the return of quality in jeans. The low point was the early 90s when Levis went into collaboration with Wal-Mart and spewed forth cheap denim: fluffy, fuzzy, short staple length cotton (used for T-shirts and polos). Then came this Japanese guy and his vintage looms and the ascendency of Evisu and with it, the return of quality denim. We saw the proliferation of small brands making quality denim, beginning in Japan, but now a worldwide pandemic. Nobody buys cheaply woven denim anymore nowadays. But what about the trim? Nobody talks about the trim yet. I see the next trend in the introduction of massively made copper rivets and buttons. There is much potential here: compared to classic menswear, jeans still have pathetic trim. Expect to see solidly-made buttons and rivets becoming the object of obsession amongst denimheads. Maybe even -- dare I say it? -- machine-turned buttons on super-expensive jeans. I see the use of contrast materials. Gucci did this under Tom Ford but it kinda fizzed out. I see it being revived: Every male likes to have a burst of colour in a concentrated spot as a peacocking method. You already see this in the form of high-contrast logo embroidery, but going forward it will manifest itself in edge taping and silesia and turn-over waistbands and such. Since the super-slim fit has reached it's zenith (you cannot actually go any slimmer since you cannot get into those jeans), this fad will fade within the next 24 months. So going forwards we will see a looser fit in jeans. Jeans of a colour other than indigo has essentially died out, and the time feels right for a revival of lighter-coloured jeans.
