hmmm... can conclude as:
Previous gen Honda City is using Quality as main weapon while
Current gen new Honda City is using Design as main weapon ? Agree? smile.gif

Partially agree. I think the main selling point for this car would be it's look and the fact that the 'entry' level model comes in dark interior. No other manufacturer in the segment offers this atm.

The power increae IMO is a little misleading. Not only is the new model's power to weight lower but don't forget that the legacy slushbox auto will still suck more power compared to a CVT - the 5 speed's just makes the delivery smoother and more efficient that an 4 speeder. I also note that the 10hp power increase is only in the higher RPM range hence wouldn't be used most of the time.

Quality materials have definatly suffered in this new model but to be honest, that's to be expected in these difficult times. Remember that manufactures would always try to make the most moolah out of their models and this city would be no different.

QUOTE
First generation (1982-1986)
type “AA”

The first Honda City was launched in 1981 as a three-door hatchback. It was one of the first "tall" hatchbacks: to maximize interior room without occupying more road space, the body was taller than usual. At the 1981 Tokyo Motor Show, one gimmick was a folding 50 cc motorcycle (also separately marketed under the name Motocompo) that could fit into the City's trunk. A turbocharged version was added to the range in 1982 and a convertible version soon after.

In 1983, the Honda City replaced the Mini in New Zealand Motor Corporation's local assembly line-up. In that same year the car was also released in Australia, although only in a two-seater van variant, to get around that country's import taxes.

Honda exported the City as the Honda Jazz in Europe, the City name being owned by Opel at the time.

[edit] City Turbo

In 1982, Mugen developed their first modified car, the Honda City Turbo, a turbocharged hot hatch version of the City.

Just got back. Test drove and booked my E-Spec.
Dunno when will I get it though.. Looks like April.

1. Confirmed no auto-lock
2. It was raining just now, so it was a good time to test the roof sounding, I can't relate to how 'bad' the previous models were..but it sounded okay too me.. didn't have the zinc "metal" sound.
3. No boot release mechanism (but there's a padding in the underside, cos I saw a pic before and it had no cloth in the underside)
4. The gear knob looked the same between S-Spec and E-Spec, so I dunno where the leather-wrap comes from, cos I couldnt tell the difference.

I have photos..
Will post up after tis..
a) PMM S-Spec
b) Labis Blue S-Spec
c) Black E-Spec (Modulo)

.
..
Only part I don't like about the PMM is the front grille and the body colour is very similar. Doesn't have a distinct contrast. But besides that, it's cool biggrin.gif
