due to their poor sales of city during the past 5 yrs, i think maybe they're making a big come back this round. btw, what does the 'S' gear stands for for spec E, sporty mode?
if by that time the interest gets even lower, maybe still can consider spec E rite. im getting later than you...
o ya, W.ROOK did mention about the differences about the upholster between the two specs, did he meant the quality of just the looks?
S mode actually means "Sporty". When engaged in "S" you gear will change at a higher RPM providing more torque. On top of that, it is also a mode for you to activate Paddle Shift (manual).
Not sure about new City but in current Civic after 2007/8 batch, in D mode paddle shift will activate overdrive or (semi auto- up/down 1 gear)

you cant compare your civic 1.8 with new city 1.5
there is stil la difference such as soundproof,
i still remember the soundproof of city on the roof =.= it is so bad until you can hear the "ting tong" sounds when rain water drops on the roof
Civic roof sound proof also on the noisy side, dude..notice this is the same as later generation car, as my friend Camry also have quite loud rain tok tok sound compare with previous Altis...
Part of GCON or stuff? or something like pedetrian safety measure by Honda? Dunno...
