Ball Aviator - Auto ETA 2836-2 46mm 100m
Ball Officer - manual ETA 6498 46mm 100m

if i were u, I wouldn't take ML.. would choose a Longines Masters L2.666.4.51.8 , 42mm case with date and pwr res. just as dressy looking.

To see good pictures of Balls...(hehehe) visit the official Ball sites at watchuseek forum or watchtalk forum..plenty of photos...
http://www.watchtalkforums.info/forums/ori...ll-watch-forum/
http://forums.watchuseek.com/forumdisplay.php?f=239

one frequent member here khopl has a 46mm aviator...you can ask him how is the wearing experience...or you can even coax him to sell to you cheap cheap since his Ball is getting lonelier everyday...(too many new squeeze coming in).. drool.gif drool.gif

To me, the Balls you mentioned and the ML...different category..so it really depends what you want..

patryn..the longines you mentioned....the white dial uses Arabic right? there is no white dial with similar romanised numbers right?

BTw, you purchased from authenticwatches before?..I noticed their Planet Ocean Omega pricing quite low...

haha... I don't...
just into watches, subscribe magazines such as watchtime, iw magazine and buy books here and there..

Added on March 13, 2010, 10:38 am

i never buy any watches above US$600 on ebay
even b4 I buy I would message a few random buyers to check their reviews or post in those forums for insight.
*
yeah...i noticed About Time pricing not too bad...one of their worker (or owner??) quite active in watchuseek...so it should be a safe bet..

QUOTE(Jason @ Mar 15 2010, 06:09 PM)
bro..sound advice you given to me. i looked at the Ball again and the feeling didn't grow on me, I feel the numbers were a little too loud for me and I'll probably get tired of it after a few years.. certainly not a piece I'd keep for long. The Carrera, I've been in love with it for quite sometime, just back then finances did not allow to splurge.... i went to an AD and tried the oh-so-common Tag Heuer Carrera CV2010.. case a bit thick but feels great on the wrist.. unlike the Oris TT3 which didn't feel comfortable.

but the AD damn lansi and look at me like I can't afford it. this was in BTS. anybody got friendly AD for Tag to recommend in Klang Valley who would be happy to give discounts? please do PM me. i am -THIS- close to buying one. patryn33? Jr.Koh? please do shareĀ  thumbup.gif

the other watch which I'd like to try before i pull the trigger on the Tag..

i find the day, date is good to have. the 2nd time zone can be very useful when travelling, and moonphase is just cool.. surely more useful to me than the chronographs..since I don't have to time anything..even if I did.. i've got a frogman that does it better..lol.

this reminds me a lot of the IWC Portoguease Chronograph..due to the arabic numbers

sadly its discontinued.
no problem...I was speaking from experience.... tongue.gif

not from Klang Valley so i cannot recommend..but hey..its your money and their sales..walk to as many outlet selling Tag and just ask for price. You know you're a potential customer and should be treated like one. Their loss if they act lansi ..not yours..

seems you like Arabic numbers..maybe a Stowa/Steinhart/Archimede flieger will do the job.

QUOTE(Jason @ Mar 16 2010, 09:54 PM)
Archimede is nice, I especially like the Arcadia line. that being said, I prefer a manufacturer with pedigree.. to me, the Archimede is just a watch assembler, buys movement from ETA and slaps it into a case. i wouldn't even call them a watch maker. Anybody care to share the history of Archimede? If they even have one?

From the same country, Sinn, a relatively young company (the company been around since 1961, but adopted the name in 1994). they try to innovate, with anti-magnetic case, escapement without lubricant, special oil to allow operation in extreme temperatures etc. I would say these are the true bang for buck watches. Sinn even manufactured watches for B&R once upon a time.

Another notable manufacturer from the same country.. Nomos..but that's a story for another day.

By the way, I was wondering, you guys prefer watches with
1. day AND date.. must have
2. date...must have
3. doesn't matter

i find myself in the 2. category.. while I don't use it often, its important when I do.. especially filling up forms.
*
Whether they are watch makers or not..Archimede targets a lower price range...so cant really expect them to compare with Sinn's innovation...But i do agree...Sinn is value for money

i prefer date...but it looks like i am sucker for power reserve indicator...hahaha

Yes 1st batch of Fireman 43mm bought in 2006 price was RM1700 after discount  biggrin.gif

if still keeping time well and no other problems, (which i suspect there wont be any since its a Ball), then RM1700 is worth....lowest end Ball now (Fireman II) also around 2.5k i think..

at least 40% off current retail price is my guess.
do check out WUS/pmwf/timezone/watchnet to get an idea of whats out there.

eg here is a Generation 1 Ball Fireman Night Train, was sold at ~US$1100 this Jan.
http://forums.watchuseek.com/showthread.php?t=356448
*
strangely, the Night Train Generation 1 is seen as even more popular and harder to find...if not mistaken, the lume is more colourful in the Generation 1...

but this is not to say the Generation 2 is inferior...

all the best in your sales bro HW...perhaps you can pm me ur best price and i try ask around...cheers!

suprisingly..my previous ball firemen...retain its value pretty well.... i have a number of
automatic watches... and after selling my firemen for the night train... realised that i like
the firemen more than night train.... And now I am aiming to get a Omega PO...
should be around RM11K after discounts....
saw the new brietling superocean at pavillion...after discount around RM7K++
*
which PO is this, at 11k after discount? the 8500 AquaTerra?

Yep, its an orange PO with orange leather strap
Normal retail 11900
Rate after discount is around 9.8-10k
Selling now for 8k...

Price confirm going up April , 5%...

i love the orange bezel...but orange strap? doh.gif doh.gif i dont mind but worry if i will fall out of love with it after some time...

of course, i can always get an Omega bracelet but i heard the PO bracelet is about 2k (right?) so...if i add in all....it will still be a 10k Omega PO..except i get 1 leather strap addition! doh.gif doh.gif

3 options I can think of,
1. Get after market (none Omega) leather strap
2. Get the PO with rubber strap
3. Go PS get the 'ahem' Omega bracelet  brows.gif
*
thanks...yeah...not worth it to top up with brand new original Omega bracelet with this purchase...
will probably live with the orange strap..and once it goes out of fashion....find grey or pre-owned..rubber/leather/bracelet...

too bad, don't have time to drop by HOur glass at LOT 10...the sales ended today....only certain
old models...more than 4 years are put on sales.... i called them up....and was told the Omega PO
with leather strap RM8K++ was sold...and left a black/red dial Speedmaster RM6K++...

cry.gif
will wait for the next Omega sales....pls. PM me if hear anything on the OMEGA Sales !!!
*
dont worry la...its not really a suitable deal if you want bracelet...
my good friend was the one who bought the orange PO with orange leather..he is thinking of selling to me actually...he is contemplating.....it also depends on how interested i am to buy....so....not sure yet...

Purchase price at 8033k...so its a good deal because you get a great watch...
only problem is if you insist on a bracelet...and a true Omega bracelet....
then, you need to pay about 2k to get one...so all in, it might reach 10k, and you end up with a PO bracelet plus one extra crocodile orange strap....

BTW, why you said old models? you mean the PO on sale is New Old Stock?
Also, i wonder when was the PO first launched and how many versions were there?
