im looking for something I around US150-US250 range...preferably with swiss automatic self winding movement...and 44mm and above. Dont think there's much choice are there!  tongue.gif

btw, the swiss army looks great...always liked their rugged design...but I heard that their service isnt that good?? Not too sure myself tho as I've never own a swiss army watch.
get on internet, who cares about customer service. if something happened or routine servicing U go outside.
going back to AD would cost more. if customer service not good can complain since u are paying for it not its free!

at US$150-250, no way to find automatic. Manual winding is very possible.
even for swiss army, the cheapest maybe the XL mechanical model going for US$300+.
and here is 1 at 45mm.

thanks man! its been really helpful! btw, the choisi is quite a looker.  nod.gif
*
thing with choisi is they stop making watches. focus on making movement.
ppl on WUS seem ok with their quality. at more than 50% off since they are clearing stock.. its a good bargain.
if U are the brand person, thats a big No No.. wanna swiss 6497 movement.. quite a nice deal since movement itself is ~US$120
seem like they just undated their site, alot of the cool skeleton watch or nicer watchers are sold out. some are nig at 47mm.

I am contemplating between a Stuhrling, Wenger, and an Invicta. I think all of them are quartz...but which one is of a better value, reliability and recommended??

Added on January 28, 2010, 4:25 pmBy the way, is jomashop a reliable site to buy watches from??
*
depending on watch, some do come in mechanical.
Wenger is the way to go!

jomashop, never shop with them. check reviews here

well it all depends on the build of the lather strap.
original Tag leather isn't specially treated and it cost US$275 to replace.
if U do sweat or get it wet often, it does age and do wear off quick.
http://ww2.tagheuer.com/_documents/manuals/EI2250_en.pdf

U can get treated leather to replace from a other brands at a lower cost. the cost from US$30.
I got the cheap Buffalo shown below and I have to say quality if good. it does not change its texture/color even I get water on it.
http://www.watchstyle.com/pi1794558589.htm?categoryId=9

if U do swim with your watch get the steel. there are of course leather strap that is specially treated for professional divers but these straps aren't cheap. U'll find the strap peeling etc. My JLC leather age beautifully. do factor the price difference should U need to replace the leather strap.

are U looking at TAG Heuer Carrera Cal 16 Chrono? whats the price quoted from the SA? gray market dealer in KL is letting it go for ~us$2.9k

FYI: Tag Grand Carrera Calibre 36RS using the Zenith El Primero movement. U can get a similar El Primero at a lower price below (~us$2.2K).

Hey,any1 can recommend me to get a watch in around max budget 10k?
Hope suitable for 17+ young guy and if cheaper better and valuable too!
a watch?
17+ young guy.. like lots of sub dials..
get a longines masters/spirit/conquest chrono
or get a Fortis Chrono
or Maurice Lacroix Pontos Chrono

if not... get thru KL based gray market.
Can find a nice zenith Chrono under 8k, around 50% off. pretty sure that the most expensive brand U can go. with 10k budget cannot find JLC, Panerai etc.

Thnking of getting one....or a good quality panerai replica...or possibly u-boat. what u guys think?

Can't afford original Panerai at the moment! Saw my fren wore one yesterday and I was drooling!

Not really sure the design  and i just found Ck are cheap and Tag also interested biggrin.gif
Famous brand better because it got the valuable
*
looking for value for money don't go with Tag, Tag is expensive.
Fortis is well build and was chosen by russian for space mission. even some military ppl use it.
CK is cheap, sure! Fossil make their watches.. most likely done in Philippines or China.
Zenith is renown for the El Primero movement. Tag is using El Primero on their caliber 36 which cost US$7.9k and up. Rolex had El Primero on their Daytona till 2001.

This statement in bold I don't get it.

errm,,guys...

maybe u guys can elaboratel more y tag is not worth of buying?
Im stil very obsessed with Calibre 16 Day date.
Previously i was aiming carreras model but slowly i have move to Calibre 16 (maybe it looks elegant)

So far cant see any calibre 36 at the shops only in the magazine. It looks sweet..guess the price also "sweet" smile.gif
*
U must have the design, like the design just get it. loving the watch design is impt. esp if U cannot find any watches u like.

are u looking at Carrera Calibre 16 Day date or Aquaracer?
http://www.tagheuer.com/the-collection/aqu...=CAF2110.BA0809
http://www.tagheuer.com/the-collection/car...w=CV2A10.BA0796

if I not wrong Aquaracer is priced lower than Carrera although both are using the same movement.

here is review on the Tag Aquaracer Calibre 16. based off 7750, can get other brands with 7750 or base of 7750 at lower cost.
http://www.watchbizz.com/archive/wt_2008_0...2008_01_076.pdf

brands such as Sinn, Fortis, Longines, Guinand (founded by founder of Sinn see thread below) is a better buy

we will see more zenith movement in Tag. the Tag Calibre 36 is a start.
Zenith new CEO is lowering their pricing and changing the product lines a bit.. going back to the classical Zenith Look

about time keeping for automatic watches. after around 1 week i wear it, the time slow about a minutes...
izzit normal for automatic watches? im a bit confuse

im wearing ML pontos automatic...
*
what did the specs say? some watches spec state a watch can gain/lose 15 secs every 24hrs. so in 7 days over 1 min is possible.
those on 7750 usually does pretty well +/- 5sec every 24hrs.
my zenith elite manual spec states +1min a week, but in fact its doing +1sec every 24hr.

hie guys just came back from browsing watches.
Saw Zenith selling at rn31680 "faint" for a slighty better looking display set.

N my dream watch Tag 2010 model Day date with stainless steal at 13560 and 2009 day date leather strap at 13320. Cant find Calibre 36 though...

Yes i do love Tag very much, guess the first impression, i fall for the design secondly is smart when wearing. Lastly i hate is the "price" smile.gif

I mean u guys may better better knowledge in choosing watches, can share with me what is so special with calibre 16 VS calibre 32?

Y is Calibre 16 day is much cheaper than Calibre 16 day date? The price diff around rm2k for an extra "day" display. technology?
*
no technology the 7750 module do have the day display. Tag just mod it to get it removed.
thats the Carrera model. tag is making this line their higher end watches.

calibre 16 run on 7750 slower beat, calibre 36 run on Zenith El Primero higher beat.
7750 iir is at 28.8k whereas El Promero is at 36k. if regulated well, higher beat better accuracy.
http://www.timezone.com/library/horologium...672313433425752

the problem I have with tag is design change very freq. buy at high price but resale value is low. if U not selling it don't have to worry about that.
some ppl care about resale value, I don't.

support your local gray market dealer. can find a zenith at rm$7543, tag also decently priced.

when u get auto watches, don't expect accuracy.
get a quartz or a spring drive they do much better.
or get those radio sync watches.
