C5 Malvern Automatic - Black Leather

i like this from Christopher Ward .. what do you guys think about this watch
*
ETA 2824 or SW200-1 at low price of rm$928 with shipping, not easy to find swiss made auto at this price. of course u can find flaws esp the lume, not that even can't really complain at such price.
looking for a daily beater thats good value for $$. anyway its on pre order seem like they are selling like hot cakes. sweat.gif

here are reviews by ppl that has got it. didn't really find any terrible review here, many ppl do like the design.

upcoming from benarus. nice huh?

42mm
Hooded lugs
Ceramic Bezel
New 9015 Miyota
Presidential Bracelet or Mesh
design isn't not my cup of tea, but they are quality German made watches.
9015 Miyota, read its new movement design to compete with ETA 2892, but the specs seem to say otherwise. of course a good watchmaker should always regulate it to their specs not citizen factory specs.
http://www.citizen.co.jp/miyota_mvt/9015/pdf/spec_9015.pdf

prices of new citizen on the new 9015 are wow.. close to 10K. then its a Campanola top of the line citizen alot of human touch. maybe the 1st auto Campanola .
CTY57-1271 294,000 Yen
CTY57-1272 294,000 Yen
http://seiyajapan.blogspot.com/

nice site on watch movement prices. those looking to swap the Miyota off their Laco this maybe of help. if Laco use this 9015, I'll get it.. hacking and as slim as eta 2892. any idea how much will then new benarus cost?

Tissot desire T52142113
C5 Malvern Automatic - Black Leather
well Desire T52142113 is at retailing US$225 (rm$716) and its a quartz, hand no lume.. thought u're looking for a automatic.
anyway discount is usually 25-30%

that PRC200 T0144211605700 is retailing at US$ ~RM$1.5k (USD$495) with discount still over $1K
its a autoquartz kinda like seiko kinetic.

a true auto would be CW C5

not looking for swiss, can go with jap..
orient are a bargain, they are auto and jap made
http://www.longislandwatch.com/Orient/Orient_Watches-2.htm

seiko mechanical jap made are out of your budget.

russian?
can get a mechanical Alarm, they are not auto need winding

ok, speaking of movements, how do the japs fair against the swiss? besides ETA, what are other swiss movements?
*
Jap...
imho Seiko by far is the best.
their top of the line movement for Grand Seiko and certainly their Spring drive preform extremely well.
but U are looking at at least US$3k for them.
hack, our fav Tag is also using Seiko Chrono movement for their movement.

those workhorse Jap, they do their job. finishing may not be as good a Swiss, maybe not regulated to so many pos as those higher grade swiss.
many jap in winds in 1 direction, swiss usually 2 directions.
standard grade ETA 2824 already cost ~US$149, Miyota 6T51 ~US$40.

besides ETA, U have Soprod, selita and Claro
Claro is using Seagull design but made is swiss.

what does it mean when they say, regulated to x positions?

ok, soprod vs sellita vs eta? what say you?
*
seem like all miyota is regulated at 4 positions (my bad here). specs wise U can see and compare easily
- accuracy is at -20 to +40 sec/day
- position diff < 50secs
http://www.citizen.co.jp/miyota_mvt/downlo...5_8215_821A.pdf

user posted image

selita and eta, should be same.
SW200 = eta 2824 diff is 1 extra jewel other than that design the same
SW300= eta 2892
Sw500 = eta 7750
selita don't have multi grades like ETA, kinda up to watchmaker to regulate.
COSC grade today just means it got better parts and at 1 time pass the COSC qualification. if watchmaker is careless putting the movement into the case, the timing on it can be screwed. need to re-regulate.

Soprod traditional help watch brands to mod movements or making modules to add on existing ETA movement. In the past watches with Soprod mod movements cost more. there movement are decorated and they are regulated to custom specs. iirc Pammy did use Soprod
http://www.soprod.ch/clock-movement/mechanical-products.html
http://www.paneristi.com/archives/pam90/index.html

ppl in the forum seem to favor Soprod over ETA. they have better reputation I think maybe QC is good.
thats why I think the OWC is a better deal over MKII.

Don't forget Unitas too though now is under ETA. Pam's entry level models, amongst many brands, are using Unitas.
http://www.unitas.netfirms.com/
*
well u are to consider these brands... I am sure U can find 5-10 brands out there.
so much consolidation during that time
U get Peseux, Adolf Schild, MSR, PHENIX, VULCAIN and the THOMMEN SA etc etc
