besides there is no temper flaring up over the allegedly long waiting queues from maxis, if one opts for the australian unit.

Jumping on the bandwagon, I would relate this personal experience for the benefit of not just Pennywise but those who would like to now own a 3GS.

I had 2 of those, a 16gb and the other, 32gb which my nephew bought from Maxis, put up for sale. The prices he wanted were as per the market's. However, there were not as many takers as before. What I am saying is that either wait for a little while more when the hype dies down then go and order one from Maxis and who knows, you may be able to get one on the spot. Or scour the GS here or forums elsewhere for a 'used' albeit not too 'old' unit and because the novelty has worn out somewhat, the price would be decent, especially when it is nearing the release date of the all-new iPhone slated for next year.

Just my observation for would be iPhone owners.

Oops... it was NZ$1129 was what I paid for the 16GB i3G. The i3GS was AUD1040. Still that comes up to RM3.2k

Quick question on what you wrote above.

1. How do I know if a model is genuinely 2010?
2. The wait is 45 days in all Maxis centre?! Hah?! Is this due to shortage or something?

I shouldnt have any problems waiting. Sheesh 45 days!

1. you don't need to read rumours to know this; if you are genuinely an apple user, a new iPhone generation is imminent next year june/july.

2. the shortage is affecting all networks globally. maxis isn't alone

Wow, are you sure? Sorry I am not much of an Apple user so havent heard such rumor.
Any idea where I can read up about it? What's the spec?

generating hype, curiosity and publicity are part of apple's marketing strategy.

Now that you tell me that there may be a forth generation iPhone coming out in 2010. I am quite skeptical if I should go ahead with the current model.

the waiting game will never cease to end if you perceive it that way.

always purchase something that you actually need.

there is almost a good 7 months before the time comes and if you have to succumb yourself to another round of waiting, you might as well not purchase an iPhone.

then sell the 3G when 4G launch next time, i sure it still has second hand value for 3G ... even 2G now also got people buy ...

and you buy a phone to use it's features and not because it is the latest ...

This replies go out to both of you. Yes yes, technology waits for no one and we can never keep it up all the time. I know. I am just thinking whether if I should go with an iPhone. The thing is, I have not thought of getting one until I got here in Canada. Then I play play liao, feel quite nice and I already dislike my e71. So I thought about it until Satio came out so I am weighing. Even though I use two numbers, I may or may not get iPhone due to finances getting tight in the year end.

so should be 3GS

like that day i went to maxis and ask is iphone 3G still in sale and the staff said need to book, then i said 3G, not 3GS ...

As usual, people are just assuming once again!

Whilst the replies from the other forummers are well and good, stay away from this so-called 3G 32gb as I have seen before, though I can't recall from where, this being offered but it is a clone unit, probably from you know where.

this model is fr maxis set MB046LL???? bcos just claim the new i3g device come with this model.

The Part/Model no. denotes an US set but for replacement it is normal as they will give you a refurbished unit and they usually from the States.

Some updates here.. Got a replacement out of the box from Singtel from warranty claim on the spot, the model number is MB046LL.. This is a USA model.. Anyway, it is a OFFICIAL unlock set.. This will leads confuses to user. As next time, someone will argue that his MB046LL model is OFFICIAL unlock set.. And shall v trust on him?

anyway to answer your question, this issue has been discussed before (and also appeared amongst maxis users).

it is not uncommon for other model parts to resurface as a result of apple's policy to refurbish the 3G.

IMHO, it will not take long before seeing this phenomenon occurring to the 3GS generation.

If that is the case.. my concern is user next time won't able to recognize is this set is official unlock or LOCK unit..
