I wanna ask, everyone will notice that Sungei Wang / Lowyat got a lot of phone stalls are placed several iPhone 4 for sell, and some even come with Maxis Warranty Card. Here are several question I need to know:

1 - Is it possible that they placed their stock there for a very long period? Maybe half or even one year?
2 - Is their warranty same with Maxis Center one?
3 - If same, then when will the warranty be activated? From the day they got the iPhone? when I bought it? Or when I register/activate the Phone?
4 - Is it probably that their phone are non-genuine iPhone? Or they unboxed to change something in the box or even phone it self??

Or is there any other issue on it?
I just wanna know only, not saying any bad on those phone stall, because I want to buy an iPhone 4 32GB without contract or plan but it is impossible to find one in the market now. And sure I worry about the warranty with it.

1. Yes possible
2. If is a Maxis / Digi set then at the end of the day you will need to bring the phone back to the respective telco for warranty claim.
3. I believe the warranty starts from the day of purchase from Maxis/Digi.
4. Very unlikely if it is sealed properly. Check for the Maxis / Digi warranty card.

Basically those shops either bought those sets from oversea or from Maxis/Digi itself and sell it with a more PREMIUM price. All you need to know is check where is the set from. Safest is to buy those from Maxis/Digi but warranty is a concern the phone might be sitting on the shelf for 2 -3 months.

Any other idea to get an iPhone safely without plan/contract and without waiting for sure. Placing into waiting list will wait for months and months...

You can buy it from lyn Mobile and Accessories Sales thread. I see a quite a few people selling at reasonable price. Also waiting list if you take with plan is that long actually. My friend waiting a few days then he got his set.

how's the warranty for new & sealed maxis iphone4 that's purchased from shops/forummer? can we get the warranty from maxis?

maxis klcc told me that the warranty starts from the purchase date from maxis, not the activation date. true?

i got answer from a south asia apple store staff, he says starts from the iPhone's activation date, that means once the phone has switched on or connected the USB for activation, then warranty is starts counting.

Yes, you're right. Same case with wifey's 3GS. Warranty starts with activation.

here's what you can do. regarding warranty, ask for the iphone serial number. go to this website ( https://selfsolve.apple.com/agreementWarrantyDynamic.do ) n type in the serial number. this is where u can see when the warranty ends.

im not exactly sure what will appear for sealed iphones, but there's shouldnt be an expiration date lah for obvious reasons

as for phones in garage sales, it wont be fair to them if we say all got warranty or all dun have warranty. u need to ask the sellers. or ask for the serial number. try to figure out a way to make sure the serial number they give u is the serial num of the phone itself

that one can check your phone whether have been activated by others, or u wanna check how many day left. Can't really able to know when the warranty starts counting, i mean wanna know actually the date counting starts depend on what.

^ both. if it's not activated, obviously u can't check how many days left, correct?

if u type in the serial number, and it doesnt show a date, meaning it's not activated yet. if there IS a date, then it's activated, meaning the warranty is already counting

just give it a try, you'll understand what im talking about

Before we starts, let see should you choose iPhone 4, if you are crazy about hunting iPhone 4 only, then proceed to the topic at the end "How to own one, cash and carry"

Why iPhone 4?
1. Just styles.
2. It plays quality music, an iPod! Most important is gapless playback and good music library.
3. Nice design, glass and aluminum. (Not for those who like to wrap up their phone with full case)
4. Apps, for sure.
5. Read document (.pdf), email and internet. Yea, iPhone is really the innovative product that first introduces full site + smooth touch gesture control on a website like this.
6. Games? Ar… I do not like those who always gaming on iPhone.
7. Good OS, for sure.
8. “Quality and, it is an Apple product!” Apple fan boys.
9. Retina display, seriously, that is just an art! If you got an iPhone 4, please use your eye to see the display clearly, try find a pixel for me, believe me you can’t even find one, but for previous iPhones? You do, and full of screen. Because our eyes’ limit is 300ppi (pixel per inch) and the phone goes 326ppi.

Why not iPhone 4?
1. Limitation from iOS, iOS is a great OS, but still it is still like a developing baby so many minor features that normal phone has, they aren’t available. Like multiple draft and templates in SMS, word counting in SMS, email attachment enhancement, contact birthday to calendar, select multiple sender while in contact when SMS-ing, no task or todo list, and so on.
2. Deluxe good, high price. If you not really need those benefits, you can buy a great normal phone from Nokia or Sony Ericsson with that money, believe me RM2xxx can own the best normal phone (without touch screen).
3. It is not work like your phone that got folders, you know, not the folder that group apps. So you can send music, video, documents via Bluetooth. So those songs will be secure, no more pirated or ‘stealing’. Anyway, people won’t have such mind of copyright.
4. You will waste more time on your iPhone, because of apps. You will realised that you’ll spent most of your time for it, and wasted. E.g. Facebook every moment (3G user), search for WIFI everywhere once you sit down, apps always event you know you have to done your assignment. You need a very good time control, even your mind.
5. Once fall, bye. You know that the iPhone 4 glass is going near the edge of iPhone? That’s mean once you fall it, it is higher risk that glass will broke. Compare with previous model, the edge is thicker.
6. Read .pdf file, yes, but iPad will work further greater, not advertise for iPad. XD

How to own one, cash and carry
Cash and carry is the term I like to use most as a need for iPhone, but there will be a lot of people rather call it as ‘buy without contract’, ‘contract-free iPhone’, ‘outright’, ‘iPhone without plans’.

Yeah! That’s right! Here to guide you how to buy an iPhone without any contract nor plan, cash and carry! Before that, jot down the date of today 6th April 2011, so if you found that this method is no longer work, that may because Maxis realized this guide and they done some changes or stop their employee from selling iPhone directly, but anyway, it is just a prediction. But actually, it is absolutely legal and Maxis SHOULD sell without contract as how AT&T and Apple Store done in US, perhaps due to their limited stock or marketing trick, so we in Malaysia have to suffer such problem of 'still hunting for iPhone 4 even it has been released for 6 months'. Sad case huh? And one more fact, that is, Maxis is the iPhone stock controller in Malaysia, means every telco and Apple Premium/Authorised Reseller are getting stock from them, dissappointed huh? Anyway, here is the guide to let you get the iPhone 4 without contract, without set in waiting list, just some small effort will do, let's started.

What you need to do? Simply 3 steps:
1. Find a Maxis Center that restock every day, friendly staff and who willing to sell iPhone without contract.
2. Sleep earlier the day before you buy it, because you need to wake up and be there before they open the shop, because there is millions of internet surfer who found this page as well and there are at least only 10 units available. So you will compete with them, yeah, they compete with you.
3. A Hotlink user, senior one. Yes, not a Maxis user; what I mean, you must be a prepaid Hotlink user and a senior one, how senior? I’m not sure with it; better own the account more than 6 month. But for safer result, be a one year owner of Hotlink.

So done? Yup! You may try eCurve and TTDI Maxis Center (TTDI strongly recommended). Problems you may encounter:
1. Staff might change and not letting you buys without contract.
2. Maxis Center may experience lack of stock and not going restock in some day, so even you queue from Midnight also no use.

All you need is knowledge of these, second will be luck, so all the best guys!

Why must be a Hotlink user? A postpaid user will do just fine also?
