u can calculate urself. in one month how much u spend on prepaid? then times it by 12 and add the iphone full price. compare with a 12-month plan total price

or 24 month if u want. but this one excluding data charges la which will obviously increase hehehe

guys,

sorry, newbie here..
i just went to a maxis outlet yesterday and asked whether i can use a celcom simcard (exec 50) with rm68 unlimited 3g on maxis' iphone 3gs, the dude there told me that he's not sure and maybe i can or i may not. depending on the phone whether its locked or unlocked. i thought all maxis sold iphone 3gs are officially unlocked and i can use any simcard and use 3g without any problems, correct? also, is there any known problem if i use a celcom simcard on a maxis sold iphone 3gs?

thanks in advance
*
can but obviously they wont directly tell you that. from my experience, maxis customer service is great but when u mention something about switching carriers, wow they're defensive tongue.gif

^ simply because 16gb n 32gb 3GS is not in production anymore for obvious reasons. it would be silly to withhold, they're trying to finish their stock. thats why maxis n digi plans got discount now

apple doesnt sell iphones w/o going through the carriers

Hi to all pro....Im going to buy a 3GS 32GB SG set Iphone....Im not really know Iphone very well....what should I check when COD whether this Iphone is working perfect? Is this a right choice to buy 3GS?I gt offered with rm1.7k is this price reasonable?hope got you all reply...thanks alot
*
1.7k sounds great. mmm juz make sure all buttons is working lah, try bluetooth, wifi, camera, accelerometer, charging, headphone jack etc. note about the speakers though...dun be surprised if the 'right speaker' is not working. there is no right speaker, only the left. the right hole is the mic. a lot of 'sifu' here dont even know this for some reason

I though Iphone 4 having some problems?

Thanks for the pro above...vil consider bt is there any 4GS coming up?
*
i dunno why people would think the next iphone would be called "4GS". the 3GS was named because it's an iphone '3G' (referring to the network) with added 'S'peed. iphone '4' is simply cuz it's the fourth version, not 4G network.

as with every single apple product, any small problems get overblown. so far i've read positive reviews from ppl who actually own an iphone4, so i'd rather believe them instead rather than people aimlessly ranting abt it w/o any intention of purchasing an iphone 4 in the 1st place

Maybe I can consider Iphone4 bt dun noe is tht necessary or nt to buy Iphone4....actually i dun reali noe wat's the difference between Iphone 3GS n Iphone4
*
iphones are never necessary smile.gif some ppl buy it because the features help them in their daily life. some ppl simply buy it for show w/o knowing how to use it. some people think blackberries or androids suit them better.

the difference between 3gs n 4, google is ur friend. as a student, i dont understand how ppl can plunk down a huge sum of money for something they seemingly never googled about. i guess i still have a lot to learn in this world tongue.gif

based on user review, yes in US.. based on my fren in aussie, no.. so very subjective whether carrier here having this issue or not..

yeap...those using ip4 in malaysia also say not much problem. no wonder so many ppl in US complain about AT&T

Sure can't, if you don't want their plan, what they going to earn? I suggest you go for apple store in sg, hk and ca. So far I saw ca is the cheapest set if you convert back ringgit.
*
you're forgetting that maxis DID have a choice for outright purchase. they dont have it now but maybe soon

n cmon la...if they sell at the RRP price...u think all that money goes to apple? of course maxis will earn a bit smile.gif

They did sell the 3gs with RRP price last time?
*
yes. 2490 for 16gb and 2990 for 32gb. it's the hotlink plan, which is not under a contract. they did give 500mb/month free data as an initiative for u to stick with maxis though. hoping it'll be the same this time. that's the plan i want biggrin.gif

Ur in luck.  They do have the plans available for sale; except now the 16GB is RM2290 and the 32GB is RM2690.  U will still get the 500MB data free biggrin.gif
*
thx for the very very very good news hehehe! why aren't they revealing this yet? tongue.gif not sure if this has been asked before, but can i still subscribe to the mobile internet (the 500mb rm58/rm68 for postpaid/prepaid respectively) when i almost reach the free 500mb limit?

im new here. can someone explain me the iphone 4 package? where does it say can get RM990 for 24 month contract?
*
u're referring to iValue 2 plan for iphone 4 16gb, 24 month contract yes?

meaning u pay for the phone only for rm990, then monthly u pay rm155. so total over two years is 990+24*(155) = rm4710, not including any extra charges

Guys,
just would like to know which one does hold it's resale value better? for instance the different between the IP4 32gb and 16gb is around RM 400. Does the different stil hold true if we were to sell the unit off in 2 yrs time ? or it will be less then that?
was wondering which one to get.... if the 32gb can hold it value over the 16gb, then i will go for it... but i doubt so.. in 2 yrs time the IP4 will be an old model and the price will be at low and the price gap will be definitely lesser then that... apreciate if some one could share tought bout this...
*
the rm400 difference will lessen. just have a look at 2nd hand 3gs prices now smile.gif they were rm2490 and rm2990 for 16gb n 32gb respectively

i'd say go for 16gb n spend ur money on good protection. if u have an ipod before, and have/plan to buy another set of headphones, then dun use the included usb cable n headphones included. mine is still untouched in the box haha

so whats the different between 32gb and 16gb 2nd hand 3gs now? btw, what do u mean good protection?
*
probably rm200-300 or so. by protection i mean stuff like screen protectors, casings, etc. anything to make sure ur phone wont get scratched or dented. scratches n dents would seriously harm ur resale value

QUOTE(crx_100 @ Oct 9 2010, 12:01 AM)
hi, any pointers for genuinity proofing?
& is the warranty card transferable? just guessing telcos might have some sort of mechanism controlling the warranty distribution.
thx
cool2.gif
*
genuine proofing for what? if u need to find a way to proof an iphone is apple genuine or not..then better dun buy iphone 1st lol.

if u mean genuine from digi or not... can ask for the receipt. make sure the IMEI number on the receipt match the IMEI on the phone (settings > general > about).

well im assuming digi receipt got write the IMEI number laa. mine is maxis tongue.gif

newbie here got a question
if i buy a 2nd hand 3gs, i have to install itunes in my pc to check n stuff right?
what about the authorization stuff? dun really understand this..
n something about the existing apps in the phone would be erased once i use my itunes account cz im not the person who purchased the apps isit?
thx for any1 clarifying.
*
yeap, the apps will be erased

what u can do is let the owner authorize ur computer for u. one account can be authorized on 5 computers. meaning he has to give u his itunes account n password la, which i doubt he will

better juz sign up ur own account, n register ur own credit/debit/gift card.
