Pretty nice movie. Quite thrilling. But of course, you have the usual idiot characters making idiot decisions in a horror movie

Michael Fassbender is amazing

I liked Michael Fassbender's acting. I loved him as Walter and hated him as Daniels. The fact that I can have two reactions must mean his acting is good I guess.

It wasnt that much of a horror tho. I closed my ears once.. coz it was soo obvious.

I liked how more detailed they managed to show the thing pop out from the body..

Heres my review though.

Ridley Scott is embarking a new movie experience for the alien fans which I have forgotten.

Something I had in discussion with others. For those familiar with the fan forum alien website/Facebook.

A lot of materials are offered in there and not in the movie (itself) such as the 360 view or from POV of the alien - a must see 😳 (Link below)

https://www.facebook.com/alienanthology/vid...55140183936605/

Such materials like above link is what Neill Blomkamp may offered camera POV if he a stab at it. I do find it exciting for fan experience.

So the old man cave in because aliens "fan" was not happy with Prometheus

QUOTE
Unfortunately it appears the negative fan reactions to Prometheus were the reasoning behind Alien: Covenant's dramatic overhaul of plot direction.

Back in 2014 Ridley Scott made mention that the beast (the Xenomorph) was cooked and had been overdone throughout previous years with the many Alien sequels and spin offs. However, Scott's tune clearly changed when he began developing the Prometheus sequel.

"What changed was the reaction to ‘Prometheus’, which was a pretty good ground zero reaction. It went straight up there, and we discovered from it that [the fans] were really frustrated.

They wanted to see more of the original [monster] and I thought he was definitely cooked, with an orange in his mouth.

So I thought: ‘Wow, OK, I’m wrong’. - Ridley Scott

The future of alien movies needs to be more than just the alien killing people. Alien:Covenant is exactly for fuc sake those who wanted more aliens killings crew/humans, dark corridors & Ripley like heroine blazing guns, expelling ammo at aliens while screaming her head off. 😡

Their ship, Covenant is supposed to terraform a planet.

They have equipment onboard that states is a planet is habitable or otherwise

The old man gives zero f about the fan because he got a big fat cheque under his name to cash out. He's been at it for decades and already build his legacy. First of all no one film director is there to listen to the fan except for the studio heads signing the cheques. If I'm getting a salary of USD 1 million or more, please let me know who do I need to blow to cash that.

Those studio exec are no idiot when comes to crunching numbers and their marketing machine is what drives the industry. You are talking people with Ivy League education that knows how to make obscene amounts of money. So don't flatter the importance of a fanboy able to influence their decision. biggrin.gif

Geeks and film buffs only a vocal minority factor that do nothing but garner excitement surrounding a movie. It's the silent majority that fuels the industry. Meaning the lame dads with disposable income to spare or young adults who have yet started a family. So don't think the nerd or fanboy is that important in the grander scheme of how a movie perform any better or not.

School ya! biggrin.gif

The movie was a strange, unruly mix of the first two Alien movies and the androidy bits from Prometheus, often switching between the two in a manner that I suspect the director thought seamless but in fact pretty jarring. It's like it's undecided if it wants to be an Alien movies or a philosophical movie about androids.

That would still be okay if the Alien bits were good. Unfortunately they appear in short bursts sans proper build up and are laughably incompetent. It's a CGI blood splatter fest, far removed from the quality of the first two movies, and the scenes are more similar in nature to the much-derided Alien 3. Heck, Fincher did it better.

I must say the philosophical mumbo jumbo about gods and humans from Prometheus is mostly replaced by philosophical mumbo jumbo about androids and it makes for a more entertaining movie, especially given Fassbender's performance.

You could see the twist ending from a mile away though. I was talking to someone and he mentioned that perhaps the twist wasn't really a twist - the audience was supposed to be in on it.

Alien Convenant is more about David than alien itself.

Got questions about this movie but later on Ill post.

It was okay I guess. Gorgeously looking movie though. Agreed that it was a mix of original Alien and Prometheus. The alien is not as frightening as the original one or even the other alien movies. Another movie with foreseen twist after Life. Acting is commendable especially Fassbender. First seeing McBride in a serious role and he's pretty okay.
