79% on RT.... which means 'almost great but not quite' but definitely worth checking out. Let's see how's the fan reception.

also watched the premiere @mbostarling last night...

I kinda agree with most online review trickling in now.
Not as good as the original but better than Prometheus.

we got to know what happened to Shaw & David and how the alien come about.
but less about the engineer.

i do think watching Prometheus beforehand is required

It's basically a Prometheus sequel packaged with the now-very familiar formula of the original Alien films. Plenty of cliched fan servicing.

Alien Covenant is a misnomer. It should be named Dawn of the Androids

too much emphasis on the Androids to the point of ignoring the human characters development. Many things in the film that don't make sense.

Short review:

- pacing in the first half is a bit slow and inconsistent, but 2nd half is fun, fun and fun!
- plot wise, its still philosophical like Prometheus but unlike prometheus, most of the questions are answered. So the pay off is better.
- this is a true direct sequel to Prometheus. Therefore you better off watching Prometheus first as the main plot revolves around the recurring character from the first movie. As a matter of fact, i watched this with a friend who havent watched the first movie and he kept asking questions that are answerable if he had watched prometheus first, especially on that one particular character's motivation throughout the movie
- but then again, it is still watchable without watching prometheus first, but u will be greatly rewarded if u did.

That being said, i liked Prometheus (despite the stupid characters and glaring plotholes), and i liked Alien Covenant more.

*local censorship: all the gores are in tact as well as the curses. The only cut/zoomed-in censor part was during the bath scene which was featured in the first trailer (because of nudity).

A solid 8.5/10 from me. A must watch if u like sci fi and gore movies.

This,is just another milk for the alien series. I got wow. But I really hate elizabeth shaw died this way.

The whole movie , I expect the same ending like prometheus when the movie play at half way.

I watched prometheus they were so well equipped.

As for covenant, it more like a ship for colonial. It was not designed to retrieve prometheus.

I repeat again . This Movie is so dissappointed because fan waiting for so long to see all corpse?? Prometheus is irrelevant but some point it is to tie this movie up alie, covenant.

How could it be the sequel of prometheus if elizabeth shaw Is dead. More like emphasis on david michael fassbeng more than ever.

I don really like david. I hate him. I want to see him died in the next alien movie. By the way there are two robot in this film. One is walter and the, other is screw loosen david

Guess so 😶 Pretty much as you mentioned, from the sentiments Ridley Scott echoed in this junket. 😶

Alien: Covenant (2017)

Oh Ridley Scott...

How can you get so much right and so much.... WRONG!!!

Basically, you took the best bits in the first and second Alien movie and lump them together in this movie...

And have to add

Not even sure why you introduce so many new characters

Back to the good...

Story is decent

This continuous from Prometheus...

Production design is gorgeous.

And have to say what I have placed in the spoiler, well, spoiled it for me....

Bad Ridley, BAD!!!

Prometheus asked us to accept the new direction of future Alien movies is the engineer and their plan to play god or creator...whatever you want to call it.

Covenant again shift the focus to something else. If you are holding your breath for a resolution to the engineer story that was established before, you will be sorely disappointed.

While bits you like about the first two Alien movies managed to come through in the second half of Covenant..it clashes with the execution of progressing what came before.

Strong visual with reasonable gore and thrills but ultimately still does not give you a fuller picture. It's like playing Dark Souls game, you know your mission is to kill all those terrifying interesting bosses in that amazing rich world but you don't necessarily know the reason for doing it. You are only given just enough cryptic information about what is at stake. It can be infuriating without knowing the full story instead constantly being greeted with awesome bosses that rich in design with nuanced backstory that the game maker who refuse to connect the dots for you.

There are solid performances from the ensemble cast. Fassbender (that "twin" acting very awesome), Waterston and I want to see Danny McBride in taking more serious role...he is very good.

So manage your expectation going in and marginally better than Prometheus because of more activity going on but definitely won't blow your socks away. It's a cocktease without the full intercourse happenning.

just watched it today. i'd give it a 3.5/5. not too stellar as Prometheus but it does fill in some questions left in Prometheus.

some actions are kind a short, especially against the xenomorphs. the movie gets slow a bit in the middle but kept up the pace quite fast afterwards.

i'm anxious to see Alien: the awakening. See where it fits in the Alien timeline.
