I don't know how to contra Added on January 2, 2009, 3:49 pm QUOTE(cherroy @ Jan 2 2009, 03:46 PM) As said before (week back), new year time, people will have new allocation, new strategy, new buying/shifting by fund managers etc. I see..... so I guess it won't be sustained......It is a temporary effect. You don't need any news, feel good factor already can kick start the market. The market simply lack of sellers so any minor buying force already can send the market higher, that's why you see low volume only. Guess have to have for the Obama effect after 20th January.... QUOTE(cherroy @ Jan 2 2009, 05:23 PM) Whatever how bad, I reckon or my guess it won't worst than 2008 kua. But many research houses predict KLSE may achieve a new low in '09 wor.....There are some chance of better years ahead with lot of bad news already known and anticipated. But just pre-cautious, still prepare some worst scenario. But really beh tahan with IOI, really strong man, somehow a bit over-run in these few days. Yeah, many research houses also put a "SELL" on many plantation stocks... see what happened, rally like crazy.... QUOTE(viper88 @ Jan 2 2009, 07:30 PM) Great way to kick start 1st day of new year trading at KLSE. Yeah, both ZELAN and LIONIND had lots of interest today. Frankly speaking, I'm just wondering what monday will bring..... another rally? Lotsa counters going up. I was away for training today but i brought along my mini pc everun for stock monitoring and do some trading I also set que buy for Lionind at 0.70 when i see it start to run...din get, set buy again at 0.71 also din get.. Lionind keep going up fast. Chg my target to Resort when it start to rise , set buy at 2.27 din get..finally i grab it direct at 2.31 averaging down my previous Resort buy price to 2.35. CIMB research target Resort nearest resistance lvl will be at 2.43. CNY is at this month end, hopefully Resort will be steady and going up. I didn't sell Zelan coz i see its buying power so strong around 0.90. I feel Zelan can move towards 0.95 - 1.00 in near future. My current unrealized profit for Zelan already 15%. KNM also up alot today. Those who bought around 0.40 now get about 9-10% profit. v_viper88 Another KLSE Market prediction : http://www.horizon.my/tag/malaysia-economy/ 10 stock pricks by various quarters : http://tobeasuccesstrader.blogspot.com/ Construction sector may benefit from pump priming : http://nexttrade.blogspot.com/2009/01/cons...nefit-from.html - haiyaa... QUOTE(viper88 @ Jan 2 2009, 08:35 PM) Actually the start sign of bear market was around mid of 2007 not 2008. Alot ppl thought China will go down in their stock market and the effect will spiral down to other country stock exchange after the Olympic but so far still ok. It was US that tried to hide it economy badly and reluctant to admit they are under recession till last year when more and more of the finance company announce losses in the sub prime housing loan. Wow! How come Feng Shui master also come out on CIMB report??!!?! Check out today CIMB research paper. Got Feng Shui master give stock sector buy recommendation based on the OX year. [attachmentid=744064] My stock counter Zelan and Resort match the category recommended to invest. v_viper88 What's your expectation and plan for 2009, especially if KLSE do rally in Q1? |

QUOTE(cherroy @ Jan 2 2009, 09:09 PM) Haha, if blindly follow those research houses recommendation then one will be buying at KLCI was 1,500, and selling at 880. None taken. I didn't hear any sell recommendation at that time either (when KLCI was 1,500). Mostly still put a hold recommendation even after a magnficient rise or bull run, if not mistaken. Most research houses are putting emphasis on O&G and buying oil and commodities back then. If one doesn't want to buy plantation, then why to buy then? Construction? Poor prospect but good with new stimulus package, also don't expect much dividend from it. Telekom? intense competition mean profit is danger of lower. Energy? Lower demand due to slowdown in construction Steel? Lower demand Bank? Also being downgraded its prospect due to no loan growth, higher NPL Auto? even worst, don't need to elaborate anymore. Properties? Properties price expected to be soften. Airliner? low loading factor. Consumer? Not exciting. Haha, nothing good then. If market turns and economy become stablise, then research houses will quick change tone become this good that good, buy buy buy. How many time, we saw, when their target price being reached then change their target price again and again? Ain't when target price being reached, you should be selling as has reached your target already? No offence. Those research papers are still good for reading and refence materials. Errr... frankly speaking, I would be fearful to hold stocks when it was rallying so high (KLCI @ 1500)... but then again, I wasn't in stocks at that time so I can't really say for sure.... What I will do after the predicted rally and predicted downturn is still largely undecided. Would probably go for defensive stocks but I would be the last person to comment on which stocks to buy at the moment as I'm still a noob. Will play it by ear and reading and tips from you guys!!! Of course, I do hope I would not be left behind once the market really become bullish.... QUOTE(viper88 @ Jan 3 2009, 01:33 PM) How much is your investment capital? If we open an online trading account, is there such a thing as an assigned remisier/broker? I thought we're on our own? I mean, we're trading by ourselves and not involving them (so they don't make any commissions), would they help us? Who is ur assigned remiser/broker ? Try check with them. Tell them you want to help them make money by investing using their O9 system but they oso have to help you by giving you good research papers. Or you can login to their Research link at Itrade CIMB websites. http://www.itradecimb.com/bin/newsResearch.asp Not sure all the research there same like wat i got from my remiser daily coz sumtimes i request for extra research on certain counters based on its past chart performance n etcs.. If you have good remiser, he/she will alwys email to you all the daily research paper and news just like my remiser. She's very helpful and alwys give good service Anyway, kinda undecided what to target for next week, as share prices are going up. In a dilemma whether to jump in or wait and see what happens...... QUOTE(cherroy @ Jan 3 2009, 03:39 PM) Even you have online trading account, it doesn't mean you are inked with the trading system directly. You still deal or only linked with investment house system only, which eventually only being re-routed by the investment system to the BTS. Ok. So that means we can't ask the investment centre's remisier to help us right (to send us research papers/recommendations)? I opened my trading account (nominee) under maybank investment securities.......For normal direct account, non-nominee, non-collateral, they won't allow you to have direct deal as somebody must take responsibility with any purchase or sales, as whatever goes wrong, they will go after them in this case the remisier/brokers. Remisier has to pay if the clients can't pay up. Otherwise, if Ah Beng, Ah Kow, or Ahmad (no offence) can simply open an online account, then buy syiok syiok, then missing in action, then who are going to pay the sellers? @viper88 - can you get info on BHIC (Boustead Heavy Industries Corp)? It is one of the stock picks for 2009 by AFFIN. Their charts looks nice.... This post has been edited by kmarc: Jan 3 2009, 03:45 PM |

QUOTE(cherroy @ Jan 3 2009, 03:59 PM) You still can ask, no harm trying, it depends on service quality on respectively investment house/bank. I see..... will do that on monday.....Some research papers are automatically available for all the subscribers which you can downloand from the site rather than sending to you in personally. I did look at the maybank online trading info. Very user unfriendly when it comes to finding information regarding a company... QUOTE(viper88 @ Jan 3 2009, 06:02 PM) Wa... now u aiming BHIC. U really got big appetite to diversify ur stock portfolios. Hey, thx for the information! This counter BHIC last time around 2007 my dept boss made about 500K profit when it shoot up like rocket. He invest alot coz got some solid news. He also told me to buy but too bad that time my money all stuck inside UEMBLDR.. I'm working now later going out liao ... no time to chk tat counter. Here's KLSE tracker printscreen for you. [attachmentid=745180] Hope you can get some good info. This info you can get when u subscribe with OSK premium acct. Cheers, : 500k? Most other recommended counters are already on the upward trend so I'm not going to grab them. Will only do so if the prices come down again. So you only have RESORT and ZELAN at the moment? What will you do, besides selling, if RESORT and ZELAN keeps on going up? This post has been edited by kmarc: Jan 3 2009, 09:57 PM |

Everyone seems to be pessimistic about 2009, from the economists to market analysts to even fengshui master Joey Yap! Yup, many predictions saying that KLCI might achieve a new low in Q2/Q3 '09. QUOTE(lowyat888 @ Jan 3 2009, 10:41 PM) Probably pushing the market for new year high figure for individual counters, new year opening window dressing. cannot sustain one, due to foreigner not coming in and depends on local funds will never go far/sustain. High RISK HIGH GAIN. HOW MANY COMPANIES CAN EPF BUY OR BAILOUT? THERE ARE MORE THAN THOUSAND COMPANIES IN THE MARKET LISTED. That's why I only use my spare money for stocks...... and only trade using a cash account rather than a margin account. Some people just take all the risk and lose everything in the end. ITS A TRAP. FINANCIAL PROBLEM WONT DISSAPPEAR/SOLVE JUST BCOS OF NEW YEAR OR CHINESE NEW YEAR RIGHT. THE ONLY FASTEST WAY TO SOLVE IS PRINT MORE $$ OR ELSE WONT HAVE ANOTHER WAY THAT WILL TAKE VERY LONG TIME TO RECOVER. DECREASE IMPORT INCREASE EXPORT. NO SHORT CUT. Dont be tempted. Win As much as a person can is definate good bcos it just winning public $$ as long as dont lose. Have to be very careful. Market is very tricky. Wont lose out if their is really a bull run as if it really can sustain along the way at every stage, yr investment can be very fruitful along the way buy and sell. Even a person bought at a low price, acouple of rise it will eventually dispose off already. if it still go up (Should not have sold) and , they will chase for another round. not to worry/miss a chance or chase the market. time will tell how it goes. Bcos the investor follow trends. eg Low RM3 buy 1lot, goes up to RM4 buy 10 lots, goes up to RM6 get 100lots goes up to Rm10 get 1000lots chase. got news can go to RM20. alot of projects/news/takeover news pop out when it goes up. Foreigner in oversea investment will be bringing back $$ to their own country to patch their financial company which in recession or financial difficulties in their countries. it wont be supporting long in foreign countries as can see bcos their own country is in deep trouble. As for warren buffet concept buy low sell high cant be apply to asian countries bcos companies in asian countries is not for long term and cant sustain long term 10 years or more will be either privatize, bankrupt, corruption etc, have to hit and run. Buffet have plenty of billion of $$ to play and can afford to hold/loss, as we are just small timer how to play and just a kacang putih (loss abit face also pale already). how to compare. 10 - 100 lots wont get u rich. just some pocket money. Have to think abit. if not careful it can turn a person from richess to rag or the other way round. Anyway, I just bought "The edge magazine (Personal money)" which includes the 10 stock picks for 2009 posted earlier. Here's what a senior fund manager had to say about BHIC (which he recommended): - Earnings growth expected to continue - core net profit expected to grow more than 19% to 152.3 million in FY2009 - Earnings over the next two years will largely be underpinned by its RM2 billion unbilled order book - 20.77% stake in Boustead Naval Shipyard (BNS), which has a RM27 billion contract to build 27 offshore patrol vessels for the Royal Malaysian navy - BNS has a virtual monopoly in the building of warships or petrol vessels - International Maritime Organisation require single-hull vessels to phase out, bodes well for the shipbuilding industry as demand for new vessels will increase - target price for BHIC lowered from RM6.10 to RM3.55 because of earnings downgrade and lower long-term contribution from the heavy industries division Here's their recent price charts: Anybody has any interest in this company or has any comments about this counter? Edit : Hmmm.... call me crazy but I think I like ALAM MARITAM's charts too!!! Now doing some research on this one.... This post has been edited by kmarc: Jan 4 2009, 07:06 AM |
