I see.... will aim for ZELAN again if it falls further..... now at the sidelines, gonna start selling my stocks soon, maybe even tomorrow. Today I was also busy, wanted to sell some but no time! sad.gif

Anyway, I'm still thinking of whether to cash out all my stocks or keep for a bit longer. Looking at KLCI, the trend is still upward....

I took a look at previous crashes after a Q1 rally, it seems that a crash starts with a big drop in KLCI. Was thinking of either selling my stocks during the climb or wait for the big drop before I sell.... both has it's pros and cons, I guess.....

Wah.. so fast ah. Should have sold it at 0.490 at least. biggrin.gif

Added on January 8, 2009, 11:31 am

Good buy. High queue at that price. You may got it if Resorts drops further.
*
I didn't want to take the chance. My ABP is 0.423 so still ok. smile.gif

However, I didn't expect SIME to drop so much!!! Haizzz... should have queued to sell at opening price too.... sad.gif

QUOTE(shoduken @ Jan 8 2009, 03:35 PM)
sorry guys gonna ask some noob question here please don't flame me sad.gif

what is dividend? and how does it work?

thank you thank you
*
You should google for the answer as you will get plenty of results.

Short simplistic answer, dividend is like interest. Put money in fix deposit, get interest e.g. 3.7%. Buy shares, get dividend e.g. 7% (over 1 year).... wink.gif

Zelan paid out dividen on May and Nov last year total of 11.5 sen
Each unit price is close to RM 1. about 12 % interest.
Close today at 0.845
*
Wow! That's quite good returns but this year should be lower right?

What is ZELAN's exposure in the middle east? Any risk?

QUOTE(eltaria @ Jan 8 2009, 06:04 PM)
Got some LCL today at 0.715, and 0.705, hoping for the support at 0.7 will hold.
LCL totally lost their 2 days gain, and fall back somemore...

Tomorrow expect it to drop a bit more due to forced sell T+4 or T+3 contra for those who bought on Tuesday. After which, i expects it to trade sideways in the 0.72 - 0.73 ranges without any rallies, which I can sell out with peanut profits if need to.

Looking to get other counters if they drop back more, MMC still hanging on to its gain quite good, surprisingly, seems like some fund manager are really entering it for their pf?
*
I probably have to average down on LCL soon. Don't dare to buy much as LCL also has exposure in the middle east.....

So far Zelan management board didn't make any annoucement to reduce or cancel dividen.
Last year year stock market get hit badly US plunge 800 pts.. KLSE oso plunge.. but Zelan still give out dividen total up to 11.5sen

Zelan exposure in Mid East? Can check at Zelan homepage

http://www.zelan.com/newsdetails.php?PageI...Tg=&NewsId=MjE=

"Zelan’s total outstanding order book stood at RM3.6 billion as of June this year, with around 60% of it from the power sector and 36% from the building sector. It is also bidding for jobs worth around RM800 million so far this year, mainly in foreign countries.

Some of the highlights of the group’s successful foray overseas are the Shuqaiq power plant project in Saudi Arabia worth RM900 million and the Meena Plaza project in the UAE valued at RM796 million.

For the 14 months financial period ended March 31, 2008, net profit came in at RM143 million, 77% higher than RM81 million recorded in the corresponding 12 months period last year, due to improved showing from the group’s various business units.

Revenue jumped 114% to RM1.4 billion from RM641 million. Engineering and construction continued to be the main activity of the group, raking in RM1.1 billion or 81% of its revenue, while property and development contributed RM209 million with the balance from manufacturing and other investments.

The total dividend for the just concluded financial period amounted to RM66 million with gross dividend declared totaling 14 sen per share. "

That was last year profit and dividen when stock market get hit quite bad.. this year Q1 financial result haven't out yet.

If buy this counnter, we are riding together with EPF and Valuecap.

Any steel stocks listed in Bursa? Besides huaan, kinsteel
*
The other ones that I know are Southern steel and Masteel.

HwangDBS has a 'neutral' on steel and their stock selection is on Kinsteel.

I did read somewhere regarding Masteel but I can't remember where.... seems like it is also recommended.....

Anyway, I'm thinking of up-cost averaging sweat.gif on my SIME this monday (hopefully it drops a bit more), since it is recommended by samgoss..... what do you guys think about SIME? I know most research house has a "SELL" on SIME.... sad.gif

QUOTE(SKY 1809 @ Jan 10 2009, 07:55 PM)
Well, the following argument is not to stop forumers from becoming the shareholders :-

Sime, as we all know is a GLC . Besides it has quite lot of cash reserve.

I have a feeling that during the so called slow economy, Sime has a duty of responsibility towards our Government and the people, to assist in the pump prime of our Malaysia Economy . One such project is the Labu LCCT , RM 1.5 billions or so.

The project could have great multpier effect such as creating jobs, demands for building materials, housing developments in the surroundings etc. Also part of the International Transport Hub that our Govt is aiming.

However, many institution shareholders may see things differently , as not contributing good profit to the bottom line.

Being not a shareholder ( myself ) , it surely sounds good to boost our Economy, and hence to Bursa. So nothing much to object.

As I say before, there are 2 sides of the coins. I see the positive one.

Correct me if I am wrong.
*
Errr.... is that good for SIME? hmm.gif

At the moment, my "shareholding" is for gorenging! biggrin.gif The shareholders/long term investment part will come later (i.e. Q2/Q3)...... smile.gif (as I still believe KLCI will drop again after the bear market rally in Q1, my -0.02cents noob gut feeling blush.gif )

Ann Joo is my choice for steel stock. Currently, the price haven't drop to my target buying price yet.
*
Oh ya, forgot about Ann Joo. Here's an excerpt from "Personal Money Jan 2009" (comments from chief investment officer, CIMB-Principal asset management Bhd)

QUOTE
Ann Joo has also lowered its bar production forecast for 2009 to 700,000 tonnes instead of the earlier estimate of 1 million tonnes. It has already provided for stock losses in its latest results and has again delayed the construction of its mini-blast furnace. Going forward, domestic steel demand may see a slowdown from possible delays in the 9th Malaysia Plan projects...... We now have a "sell" call on Ann Joo with a target price of RM 1.23 based on 5.5. times EPS. Based on current trading price of RM1.26, there is a potential 2.4% downside.

Doesn't sound really good leh....

I only started reading his post last month. Wished I had caught his call on YTLPOWER-WB and UEMLAND...... now, he's calling SIME and already has an ABP of RM 5.45 (if I'm not mistaken)........ that's why I'm thinking of buying a few more..... hmm.gif

Based on my personal analysis, Ann Joo will worth buying at RM1.24. If Ann Joo not doing well, the rest of the steel companies also the same. Analyst recommendation is only worth reading, I prefer to analyze the data provided by them, and make my own conclusion.
*
I see..... however, from what I read, steel companies won't be making a come back so soon (not before construction).... not a good time to buy steel companies? I'm holding some KINSTEL though..... for long-term investment, I guess it is still ok. However, I plan to exit the market after this rally.....

At least he 's willing to show that he bought the counter recommended + the realized profit/lost made from his decision.
The passbook is to support his claim on the profit he had made from stock market since some TA guys keep saying he's making up stories and unrealistic profit gains.
Its up to individual to belief whether its true or not.

If you have follow his posting in OSK few years back, you will know Sam try to highlight the danger if follow TA techniques blindly and he recommended to invest stock with good fundamental company. There are some hardcore TA guys alwys attack his postings and make some childish comment spam just to protect their own TA calls.
One of them their blog is http://www.flying spaghetti monster.blogspot.com/... tat time everyday also have personal attack on Sam.
It was when the market turn bad in 2008 ..Sam portfolio able to withstand and still able to make profits. The other TA guy websites is as good as bungkus /close shop already.
Maybe tat TA guy switch to a new websites and still continue his attack shakehead.gif

OSK forums already been removed since last year due to alot personal attacks comment there and some unrelevent posting. Man.. i used to read OSK forum there .. nice.. can get some snacks + drinks n read how Sam counter attack those TA guys and make them look bad. laugh.gif
