Static may also mean a grounding issue with your PC. The reason why static is happening is because when your PC draws more power from the PSU, the current going into it isn't clean.

QUOTE(Skidd Chung @ Oct 2 2013, 02:49 AM) Do you connect directly to the back panel to your Xonar? Or you using the front panel connections? Thanks for the suggestion but it doesn't work for me.For me it's I connect it to the back panel. I'm also using Xonar DG. Edit: Thinking about your problem reminded me of software related issue rather than hardware. Most likely the configurations of the Xonar software vs game sound preference vs Windows preference. I found this solution from Hardforum.com which helped a a guy who was having problems getting his Xonar to improve the sound of his BF3. Credit should go to the original poster. It might help your problem. "Set Windows to 5.1 speakers (in Sound properties), then set Battlefiled 3 to either Home Cinema or HiFi, and disable Enhanced Stereo. Finally, set the Xonar DG control panel to Audio Channels - 6 channel, Analog Out - Headphone, and select Dolby Headphone at the bottom. If you select the Dolby Headphone entry, you can also change which reference room - personally, I prefer DH-2" At first my headphone was plugged into the Logitech Z103 external Audio port, then when I noticed the static, I switch to direct connection to the Sound card, both produce the same static noise which only happens in games unless I quit the game or switch to desktop. The weirdest thing is I'm unable to use the front Audio port, probably it's disable which I don't know how to activate it or something else, mind tell me how? I think so too, but wouldn't the grounding issue will also cause static while I'm not in-game as well? Which the issue I encountered was only happen in game. |

No, because when you're not in-game your PC is idling without much current being drawn from the wall. Static and pops happens when current is spiking through your PSU.

The clicking noises is absolutely normal, it's just the NEC relay switch activating so that it prevents popping in your audio when switching speakers/headphone/output or when you are starting up the PC. You should be worried if there's no clicking noise instead. |

get AVR or UPS for cleaner supplies. I am using my evo on the lappie, so nothing much to check except the incoming from the plugs directly. use only 3 pins plugs.

QUOTE(SSJBen @ Oct 3 2013, 02:51 PM) Get your power source to be as clean as possible? Well I installed my Sound card on the first slot of my motherboard, which is on top of my GTX670. I'm using P8z68 anyway, so there's nothing more I can do for this sound card since I only have 2 PCIe slot which is either be on top or below of my graphic card (lower part can't be install because my GPU took 2.5 slots). You can also try switching the soundcard to a different slot, preferbly away from the GPU and PSU (if your PSU is bottom mounted). Uhm, you can still install the soundcard in your second PCI-E x16 slot or are you SLIing your GTX670?
An EMI shield might help, yes. |

Never heard of them, so no conclusions. On a personal view point, they look rather cheap.

QUOTE(Yagami5159 @ Oct 3 2013, 03:11 PM) Precisely.PCIE slots are backwards compatible with all PCIE cards, be it soundcard of graphics card or raid cards or whatever else it may be. If it fits, it works. There may be cases where some motherboards are sensitive to a different device on the correct slot, but there's never any harm in trying. I have my Xonar STX on my x16 slot simply because I want the least amount of interference and it works fine. |

maybe your setup creates some internal electronic resonance. like suggested, you can swap around the internal parts if possible.

It's been 12 hours and no static noise can be heard from my ear (there may be a little, but probably I'm misheard it) THANKS!
Anyway, now the Sound card is on top of the PSU, the gap between them is like about 5~7cm ish, would it affect the sound card performance? |
