QUOTE(RME-RAnger @ Dec 19 2008, 09:36 AM) I too prefer the arc slider design, though it's because of the functionality of the design, and also partly because it's "trendy". Haha! It just feels more right with a arc slider keyboard instead of the normal ones found in the likes of Touch PRO or TyTN II. |

QUOTE(nebousuke @ Dec 19 2008, 01:43 PM) TyTN II is a two action mechanism. You slide and then have the option to tilt it whatever angle you want but up to 45 Deg (approx.). With the N97, have no choice. Once you slide, it'll go up automatically. |

But the mechanism might just add up the cost of handset though. |

Thats why Xperia X1 had one angle in an arc while the N97 has auto-tilt bracket. But its great to have the choice of tilting up and down. Not sure about reliability though. But I think N97 is more vulnerable. Just look at the bracket that tilts it. One drop, one of those plastic pieces might come off. |

QUOTE(dattebayo @ Dec 19 2008, 10:42 PM) but it was published in a magazine then yeah, u cud be rite. I hate to say this, but the iPhone probably did change the roadmap for many companies, so maybe Nokia scrapped the old design for this new one.it could be Nokia's very first prototype then, the design have to admit is very very lame Another thing, is it just me, or is the Nokia N97 pretty similar to the N79 in terms of the design? Especially the silver bezel around the screen... I guess this is the 2008-2009 style for nseries, no? |

^dunno lol.. but recently the Nseries design has been revamped to be more elegant, eye candy, u name it...
still remember the looks of N70 and a few others 1st gen Nseries ? later the N73 got the better design, but yet still not good with the joystick, then N95 came out, which was powerful but kinda bulky and rough. N82, N81, which were launched at the same period, are having better looks than their predecessor but then, they were still thick and heavy. Finally with the current batch, N78, N79, N85, N96, all of them are totally different than the 1st/2nd gen of Nseries, much sleeker, slim, nice and elegant. I used to say SE got the better in the design, but now Nokia has done quite some good work |
