hi. new comer here. Use powercolor 4870. Anyone using this? Review from overclockersclub said the default core speed is 750Mhz. Mine come with default core speed at 800Mhz. Is it new bios or smthing that up the core speed?

Powercolor has several edition of 4870. I think urs is PCS+ which is among the best 4870 around.

Anyone experience tree bug in Far Cry 2.
I got this problem after installing new 4870. Previously I used 9600GT.
I've read through various sites, seems no absolute fix.
Suggested to disable aa.

I recommend Arctic Cooling Twin Turbo.
The GPU temp can be reduced by 10-15C. 

PS: Do always opt for dual fan cooler for 4870

Guys, my stock 4870 keeps having this weird hissing or static noise when i play games. Sometimes it gets louder or softer.
It's making me reaally worried. Any idea what's wrong?

Cannot stand noise already  6 AC Ryan 120mm fan's and HD4870 runs at 60% fan speed. Kinda annoying now 

AMD is slated to launch the Radeon HD 4890 card based on the RV790 core in April not the rumored Radeon HD 4970. The RV790XT A11 sample is running at 850Mhz core at 1.3V and 975Mhz GDDR5 memory. In comparision, a Radeon HD 4870 (RV770) card runs at 750MHz core and 900MHz GDDR5 memory. AMD told their partners that RV790 is expected to be around 20% faster than the current Radeon HD 4870 RV770 card and will compete headon against the GeForce 285 GTX card. The pricing? Between US$199 to US$249.

FPS, etc etc...Are you sure you don't have any driver problems?   Hell I don't know about others but GTA4 with 4850 lags like hell with the 9.1 CCC(medium settings with 1024*768)

A lot has been said about AMD's rather mysterious new performance GPU, the RV790. Clues about the new GPU surfaced as early as in November last year, when we first reported about AMD working on a successor to the RV770 before the RV870 comes to be. During the course of time, we were given several scoops about its specifications, with some reports hinting at increased stream processor and TMU counts alongside increased clock-speeds to give out early projections of as much as 20% performance increments, taking its single-GPU flagship product to the domain of the GeForce GTX 285, but as multiple sources confirm now, none of that looks plausible.

The RV790 is essentially a reworked RV770 with higher clock-speeds. AMD seems to have reworked the design of the RV770, perhaps altered or removed rudimentary components that facilitate slightly higher clock speeds. While samples of the RV790 are spec'd to run at 850 MHz, one can expect a slightly increased overclocking headroom. The samples also carried Qimonda IDGV1G-05A1F1C-40X memory chips that are originally specified to run at 1 GHz, yet running at 975 MHz on the samples. The core continues to have 800 stream processors, 40 TMUs and 16 ROPs. It features a 256-bit wide memory interface to support GDDR5, GDDR4 and GDDR3 memory standards. It will be built on the existing 55 nm TSMC manufacturing node. Products based on the RV790 can be expected only by April.
