-milo-, yes it is possible to do so. However, newer slim units and psp3000 units come with Pandora proof motherboards. If you get a psp which has this motherboard, then you would not be able to install custom firmware on it. If it comes with a different motherboard, you can create a Pandora's Battery, and install custom firmware on your unit.

-milo-, i don't think you'll be able to detect your motherboard version by getting a glimpse the motherboard code. You'll have to actually use a Pandora's Battery on your unit to know if it's motherboard is pandora proof or not. If the Pandora's Battery works, then it's hackable. Else, you knowlah.

Is anyone here know why my psp cannot on? I've been trying 2 turn on my psp 4 hours & there is no green light. The battery is still attach to it & I even try 2 charge it but there is no orange light. Is it anything 2 do with the wiring problem?
If I take it 2 repair, how much will it cost me? Is there anyone from Ipoh can recommend me a place 4 me 2 repair my psp? |

aaron_15ryderz, that information is not enough for any of us to provide good help to you. Tell us specifically what brew' it is and what folders are in the root directory of the homebrew application.
Most of the time, all you have to do is to place the folder that has the eboot.pbp in it, in PSP/GAME. If it's kXploited, it'll come in the "Folder and Folder%" format. Place both folders in PSP/GAME and run it. (kXploited homebrews are for fat psp units only). |

Nope. Copy the entire "seplugins" folder, and paste it in the root of your memory stick (Beside the PSP,ISO,PICTURES,MUSIC etc folders). Then go to recovery mode* and activate the plugin.
Recovery mode = Hold the off switch for a few seconds, then hold the R trigger and boot your unit up. You should be in recovery mode. Scroll down to plugins, press X when you see the plugin. It should be enabled. Then exit recovery mode, and enjoy the plugin!! I use psp movie creator by pqdvd (or pq only)
can get confusing easily.the program is more streamlined cos it's targeted only to psp. but it's not freeware tho. |

hi guys....really noob question....i've just overcharge my psp...i mean i charge it the whole night and i overslept.. will this affect my psp battery?? or maybe cut shorten the battery life?

aaron_15ryderz, no it won't affect the battery. I've been doing so for about five years now, and my battery is still good. I believe the psp would stop charging once the battery has reached it's maximum charge level.

I just came back from this shop for a PSP charger warranty issue. The charger is dead. The sale girl do all the testing and confirm the charger is dead. Then she told me the is no warranty on the charger. She also told me even SONY wont give warranty on charger. She say i "over charge" d, got burn smell *sniff sniff. WTHell..

Just upgrade yourself,just make sure u got your PSP battery life more then 75% then can update it.Just follow the instruction & ya safe from bricking.

need help.
yesterday i ter'reset flash and all setting' at recovery menu. my problem is, cant detect any games or themes. my firmware is 5.00 M33.4 *i got backup all folder inside psp but even i paste it back on my psp, still not working. |

i already read some website which other psp owner have problem like me and solutions.have 3 solutions
1)format mspd via memory card reader and reformat in psp or 2)upgrade firmware or 3)change another mspd if still can't detect then maybe it's slot problem |

Find the Bar Code Sticker on the PSP box..If found a letter G on the box and have vision 4.01 OFW den the 90% the psp having TA-88v3 MB this MB cannot be mod currnetly

I am using 8GB with high speed. I think the difference is just transfer data faster though.
I am also thinking to upgrade my firmware to 5.00 as I am using 3.90 M33-4. Is there a guide for me to update (I don't know how to do so) and how about my previous save files? I heard from my friend if you upgrade your firmware your PSP will not able to recognise the older save file. |

I don't know. I lost all of my save files (only 1 is safe) and I am not sure that if we copy out the files, it will be recognized by the new version or not. I guess that is the reason they don't want to upgrade their firmware if possible though.

latios, can u try backing up ur savegame.
then, u try format ur mspd using psp. after, try putting the savegame back. who knows it will be resolved. i myself did not corrupted anything or messed up any setting since twice upped. |

Wahhh, lately my psp hang alot. While playing game, suddenly it load intensively, nonstop. Go back to home or force shutdown also didn't help. When turn on back, it will continue load. A temporary but not so effective way i did to recover is to enter recovery mode and choose run program at eboot. Sometimes it work and my psp back to normal while displaying " game could not start".
Anyone got good solution and tip to prevent it from happening again? Is it turn on sleep mode while charging / middle of the game is bad? |

a 3.6v 1200mAh official battery until fully charged can be used 6h 48m according to psp system information. dono that is for standby or playing.
i think playing is less than that, moreover play with sound fully blasted, and brightness is fully loaded. |

But when I play,it is not so obvious,and I can barely see it. He said the cause,maybe bcoz of concusion due to falling.and maybe the motherboard had few glitches from that. Is this true?and is there any possibilities? *the themes are sony original themes. |

I haven't update my firmware yet.its 3.60
but I seem to have a problem having custom themes. I've been downloading from psp-themes.net. and as the instructions guided,I make a new file under folder PSP called THEME. but when I want to set it up,it doesn't appear on my PSP. only original colour themes. can anyone tell me,izit bcoz of my firmware or something else? |

if .ptf files u just put on
ms0:\psp\theme no need to create anymore folders. the same goes for .ctf files. put in the same folder but u need the latest cxmb plugin to able to view it in themes. |

when i was in college, we learned about this circuit that cuts off the power to an electronic appliance (mainly constructed in charges and adapters) when they are fully charged. it detects the battery charge level (or something..) and when its full, it stops supplying to the appliance and instead runs the complete circuit straight back to the socket.
if the same circuit was applied in the psp charger, so, no worries about overcharging. what i know and can be sure about is every laptop adapter got this circuit. |

hi, my psp charger got busted twice(i bought a new charger) while recharging...i think it happens because i recharge it while in sleep mode with dissidia running...but im not so sure, anyone know anything that can cause the charger to die?

hi, i just bought a PSP Phat for RM560. it has external speakers which does not sound too great.. the thing is, the PSP's speakers can't work on its own. It is either i attach the external speakers or earphones to listen to sounds. When without either devices it is mute. is it fixable? would really appreciate advice.. thanks in advance!

oh well, then the possibility is that the audio jack is defective.
it should be mute when a jack is plugged in, and sounds when it doesnt plugged in. wait, are u talking about the psp speakers working only when the external is plugged in? or it doesnt work at all, only the external speakers are working?. |

so there are a few possibilities. one of which is the speakers themselves are defective. but cant be both of them defective at the same time. probably means something's wrong in the circuitry. |

your speaker fuse must have burnt then. no worries, if that is the case then the fuse can just be shorted out.
other than that, i dont think i know. maybe the motherboard's messed up. im not sure about phat PSPs since i've never opened one. try PMing the guys at modding section. see whether there are people who had opened a phat before. |

That is true.
By using homebrew, you can play various video formats on your unit, but you better not expect excellent quality. PMP video plays exellently on psps. You should give it a shot if you do have a homebrew-capable unit (A psp with custom firmware) |

Hey guys I'm a little confused with playing the PSP through the Internet.
Lets say I wanna play Dissidia over the internet with someone from Japan: First, I hear theres this program called X-Link Kai that is sort of like Garena but for the PSP. In other words, it connects your PSP to the internet that is connected to the PC. I then hear that you can just connect your PSP to a Wi-Fi and from there just play with others online. Heres my question : 1) Why would a program like X-Link Kai exist, when the PSP originally can just use Wi-Fi to connect and play through the internet? 2) I have Wi-Fi at home, 801.11 I think. So basically my PSP can just detect it immediately without anything else? After detecting it I can straight away play with my friend from America? 3)Does that mean I can just go to a Wireless Hotspot like Starbucks, sit down have a cup of coffee, and connect my PSP to their wireless and can play multiplayer games over the internet? Alright, here's how you do it.
There are two ways. I prefer method two though. 1) Download older irshell versions ( < 4.7). 2) Place the IRSHELL folder in the root of your memory stick (Beside PSP,MUSIC,PICTURES etc). 3) Place the irshell3xx folder in PSP/GAME or GAME150. 4) Download rdf codes (There is a pack over at qj). 5) Find for your tv's code on your computer. 6) Copy the rdf code, and paste it in ms0:/IRSHELL/IRCODES. 7) Boot to irshell, go to Ir Feature (Top row), and select the rdf of your choice. Second Method (Newer and better). Applies for Irshell 4.7 and above. 1) Install Irshell the same way. 2) Boot to Irshell. 3) Access the Ir Feature menu (Top row). 4) Press start (A pop up menu will appear. Press create) 5) Name your code (Example Sony TV) 6) It should then be in learning mode. Press any button, and assign a value to it by pressing the button on your tv. (Point your TV remote to the ir port on your psp. Hold it for a few seconds till the psp detects it.) **Example : Sony TV. In learning mode, press D-Pad-UP. A message should appear saying that your psp is learning the code for D-Pad-UP. Then, point your TV remote to the irport and HOLD a button down. (Example press volume up). Once the psp detects it, a keyboard should appear prompting you to name the code (Vol UP). Then press start (To switch to playback mode and give the code a try) ** |

hey guys, i just bought a psp earphone. the problem is when i plug it in my psp just turned off... when i switched it on again, it simply turned off again... can someone help me?

err.. can someone help me about psp game lag...?
inside my memory card got 7 game.. some game working fine now few game inside my memory card cant work... after i select the game.. it will come out PSP then my screen blank.. but i still can press home button.. last time working no problem.. what is the problem ? |
