Celcom is rubbish.
I have been using Celcom in Sungei Long (new taman) for about 6 months now and have subscribed to the unlimited RM98 package. Just recently I went to a Celcom outlet to check on why my service has been as slow as it is and they tell me that Sungei Long does not have anything more than 3G (meaning no HSPDA) so I should just use the RM68 package since nothing more than that is possible.
What the hell is that supposed to mean?
And connection is has so bloody erratic since I started using 6 months ago. It takes forever to load youtube and when it loads, it sometimes just fails and tells me page not found or times out. Takes about 5 tries sometimes to open Google even.
Why do I bear with this? Because there's no Telekom/Streamyx available in my area and Maxis is worse. I couldn't even be bothered to try U-Mobile.
Sigh.
I wish those bozos would get their butts in gear and do something about this sort of poor service.

The reason why it is slow is probably because like what most Celcom Broadband users are experiencing for now, dial-up kind of speeds.

QUOTE(yongkailoon @ Feb 12 2009, 09:41 AM) That's probably because the signal is too work that's why it will automatically revert back to GPRS. Maybe recently something was constructed that is now blocking the signal tower. hmm.... Actually I already make 2 complaint to Celcom Careline since last week, 1st complaint there say there are experienced "3G failure" in certain area as what there claim. Which there also say the next day after my complaint should back to normal. But after 1 week it still that. And I just make 2nd complaint this Tuesday and there say will log a report and will investigating my problem. Might think of terminate the Celcom BB if the problem still persist end of this month.

Sometimes it just have something to do with the account so at times if you terminate and reapply again things will be back to normal.

Even if you are on D68 and in HSDPA coverage, the pages load faster. So, don't always think that 3G area then opt for D68 because it doesn't make any difference. Actually it does, I was on D68 and in full signal HSDPA enabled area; I experienced smoother connection. Anyway, I just got pissed off with their connection. I feel like terminating it already. What is the point paying RM 98 for a dial up speed? Since my campus labs have much much better connection, I really don't see the point spending so much for something which is not as advertised. In campus lab again: I feel as if I were in the Internet heaven.

If so then yes the Celcom Broadband is not really needed anymore.

Anyway, hope I could get an UMPC soon, by this week hopefully... Then, can use its wireless. Feel so tensed up now.

Have not encountered such problem so far other than the lower speeds, by far Celcom Broadband is the most stable wireless broadband I've ever used (stable as in does not disconnect often). Does it help if my CPU is placed hidden under the table? Hope you could advise me on this. How much does it cost? This post has been edited by fruitie: Feb 12 2009, 10:45 AM

Be the wise user True, they should at least provide more information too in their website. There's not much information in their website but luckily there is no contract for Celcom Broadband so at least will still able to downgrade.
