gaban, I by-pass it with Vishay MPK 1837 0.033uf, it tame down the bright a little bit but still very edgy and rough vocal. I gave it about 70hr run-in but still the same from day one. Maybe I should give it few hundreds hour, but I am very inpatient.
After swap cap in 2020 with Wima, it is much smoother but when I compare it with 2024, 2024 still has my vote as better in vocal. It sound fuller and smoother. I will give the Wima more time. By the way the Vishay 0.0033uf is by-pass the Wima too. Also there is a pair in my 2024 input cap by-pass. Shouldn't be the small cap different.

you don't need to use Vishay MKP 1837 just because it's popular in diy community....normal one also can...like the yellow film in JP....but I frankly suggest to increase the value to 0.1uF. 0.0xxuF value only reduce the brightness but with 0.1uF sometimes improve the SQ as well. The best bypass cap i ever use is Vitamin Q PIO 0.18uF. Warm and improve clarity....burn first dulu la...

Jazzy, maybe a full mod 2020 will unleash it's full potential. I saw some good review of vocal of this chip.
Xtorm, you have equipment list of 2020 board?
*
ill search it out later smile.gif

my friend called me just now and say "after impressing his uncle who owns quite a few branded stuff in car audio, the ta2020 in his car decided to mute its left channel...."hahaha

weird enough, plug it out test it on meanwell, well...all go..put it back its singing again sweat.gif

ok when i test it out on my system, i was surprise....really surprise cos the harshness isnt there anymore....sounded abit laid back to me, his amp was from the 1st ta2020 batch, i think it clock alot of hours edi cos he is a salesman who is always in his car listening to the radio...

so guys...keep the hopes up!! biggrin.gif

I am confused.. and need some little help here guys. unsure.gif

How does the ta2024, ta2020, and ta2020MKIII compared to each other? Need a comparison between them to decide which one to go for..

Does the increment in watt from ta2024 to ta2020 makes ta2020 better? in terms of?
I have read somewhere that ta2024 sounds more natural and musical, while ta2020 provides better low end with sacrifice in musicality. I don't mind the low end. I am more to the balance of everything, and the flatness too. smile.gif

You bet! I'd say the TA-2024 is more 'audiophile' than the TA-2020, period.
Very 'tube' like, musical and enjoyable. rclxms.gif
Do remember, my version of TA-2024 was heavily modified. tongue.gif

It can pair with any speaker but better with higher sensitivity (>90dB) one as it has low power (2x8w).
For me, it's character is very smooth vocal.

Anything above 86dB/W/m should be useable.

Anyone using Tripath TP2050? This is for any serious DIYer .......... I have this TP2050 chip all mounted, heat sink included, with the controller chip TC2000 all soldered onto a pcb, even the relays are onboard - in the form of A-L700P Digital amp, on a card. All one needs is feeding it with appropriate power supply and input and speaker connections - bingo you have it ! I don't guarantee it work but its free !!

Please do your research well and don't mistakenly connect it. There is the TEac A-L700P service manual on the net - use it to ensure correct connections made. Interested party contact me to pick up : Chang 017-3610218 Location : Selangor .

Hi,

The Tripath TP2050 pcb was given to XStorm since he was the first caller. And since he started this thread, I think he is the right and truly enthusiastic guy for completing the job and I hope that he makes a good 50W + 50W stereo digital amp out of it. BTW if you need the application note of TP2050 it is attached below. Anyway thanks to Jazzy for his interest too. Attached File  Digital_amp_TP2050.pdf ( 298.83k ) Number of downloads: 92

Thanks for the update, Dexsam.
He was lucky to get it! tongue.gif
Yes, he's the one that started the T-Amp crazed here in lowyat forum.
I hope he would keep us posted on the progress and his review on that amp. Would you, Xtorm? hmm.gif
