My Q9550 @3.4Ghz, doing 48c when normal usage(Browsing+movie), never checked idle. Cooled using TRUE with Lau yah AC Ryan Dead LED fan..
Previously on IFX-14, on normal usage(Browsing+movie), Stock Speed, temp was around 43c.

I'm still thinking whether to switch to WC or stick to Air...
Wah, not bad...30c only...
I look at my temps, i headache. If i push up to 3.8 (if the chip will do), that'll be a little too much for the TRUE to Handle.
*
Still stick with stock cooler better,
WC aint cheap...
TRUE need lapping job, after lapped,
it is monster biggrin.gif

QUOTE(overclockalbert @ Mar 3 2009, 01:43 AM)
bro, just stick with air cooler. less problem. buy better fan 2pcs and do the push/pull config.
btw, do you have any kangtau for the true120 fan mount bracket? who selling them?
*
QUOTE(@meno @ Mar 3 2009, 02:37 PM)
Never pushed beyond 3.4.
But now running 3.4Ghz on stock voltage with everything default.
TRUE fan bracket, earlier got one forumer sell some plastic ones.
If u want the metal clips, very expensive.
I heard it's RM60 per set, damn not worth, better take 2 cables tie the 2 fas together.
Hmm, wierd...But on the penryns, air cooling seems to be not really sufficient.
Wah, 3 sanyo denki. Rich guy...
I used to run the IFX on some deltas, but soon stopped using them, too noisy. tongue.gif
*
LoL, aint that expensive for TRUE fan clip,
I am using 2 unit of AC Ryan fan to pull-push,
3.4Ghz of Q6600 run max 55C in air con room...

http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=681324&hl=

pcmoddingmy is selling TRUE fan clip,
RM17 each only...
I think he still have stock for it...

Actually industrial grade fans are not that expensive except if u buy brand new ones.
Most of these fans are stripped off servers.
I got some of mu high powered fans for prices of less than RM30 per piece, and from my understanding, that is considered expensive as well.

Btw, forget the CM 90cfm, tats a lousy fan.

Too bad the TRUE i'm using is only a temp solution.
I borrowed the TRUE from sonicscourge, i dun have a cooler now after selling the IFX off.
Thats y was thinking whether to get a TRUE or setup something based on a D-tek Fuzion 2,

Agree with the 90cfm CM fan,
the LED is so lousy, burn after sometime,
fan is cool though when it is new...
maybe good choice if u choosing the 90cfm black colour no LED one...

Regarding the water cooling,
uhm, the cost are high,
a good set will cost you RM800 like tat...

1st time installation are big headache...
time consuming and leakage problems...
but after that, for maintainence wise,
not tat much dust will accumulate,
just watch out the coolant lvl only...

on the other hand,
air cooling is just plug and play like USB tongue.gif

Buy Darnell's Noistaker 600w...
Then when FMA come back, sell it off...tongue.gif

Btw, still thinkin of WC, let me see how 1st...
Maintaining hobbies is costly, need to split between my Camera and PC now... sad.gif
Lichyetan, any nice stuff for WC to recommend? Cheap and nice stuff.
I was earlier thinking of a budget of RM500 only for everything, but after considering getting a Fuzion V2, seems like 500 will not be enough...sad.gif

Btw, nobody go support our fellow POC member here ar?

Adrian,

Cost breakdown of lowest cost, high-performance water cooling

Old heatercore/radiator from car/bike -RM100
Nirox P2800 modded -RM40
Generic tubing -RM4
T-line -RM20
Battery water (equivalent to distilled water) -RM4
High CFM fan -RM40 each
Fuzion 2 block -RM320 (new)

Total: RM528 with 1 fan and brand new block

What you lose by skimping
-Old radiator is probably dirty, rusty and lacks proper hose connections. You'll need to flush, de-rust and mod the thing before you can use it. Plus side is you'll probably get a better rad for a fraction of the price, though it'll take up more space.
-No reservoir, bleeding air with a t-line isn't as easy as it sounds. Expect to spend half hour or more each time you need to do it.
-No fungicide or anti corrosion additives. You'll have to change water more often, though by comparision to other downsides this is pretty minor. Corrosion is more of a headache though, you'll have to double check that all the parts touching the water are either non-metal or copper (since fuzion's base is copper). Then again, anti-corrosion additives or not, mixing metals in a WC loop is just a really bad idea.
-High CFM fan means lotsa noise. And you'll need it to be high CFM cos most car/bike rads are pretty restrictive. Alternative is more fans in parallel and/or push-pull, then you can turn down the speed, but means more money in fans.

Plus side is you have a full WC set running, upgrading is fairly straightforward after that. And every upgrade adds a lot of bang for your buck, carrying forward from system to system is also a lot easier than with aircooling. Btw my WC setup is up and running on my AM2, getting a C2Q running hopefully by next week.

as OC4/3 and lohwenli mentioned, either premade kits or custom kit...

my recommendation go for:
D-Tek Fuzion v2,
Swiftech MCR-220QP,
Swiftech Micro Reservoir,
Swiftech MCP-655B.

not sure the pricing though, and da kit is same as mine... i also forgot how much i bought d, radiator bought years back, same as reservoir.

but the time i get should be cheaper cause now price will be higher due to economy problem... smile.gif
