shxt, saw the same remote yesterday during PC fair here listed at RM1199  rclxub.gif

OT a bit, anyone here using Belkin PureAV 8 Way Home Cinema Surge Protector http://www.futureshop.co.uk/belkin-pureav-...r-2m-p-421.html
Is this use mainly for surge protection, what about better/cleaner power supply for HT or HiFi ? Mind to share ur opinion ?

asking cos saw that at PC fair selling RM199,the 6 way selling RM159. smile.gif

For Belkin products I think better buy locally, not too expensive and got local insurance. I'm using the one with 7 plugs with RM25k insurance. It's around RM250, more expensive because bigger power support and better noise filtering.

Just watched Tropic Thunder. LFE action very good and very low/loud. I believe those with good subwoofers will be pleased. Great acting by Robert Downey Jr.

My friend, Blu-Ray...IS the future.

and the future...is...NOW!

laugh.gif looking back at the HD-DVD vs Blu-Ray war..i was from the losing party trying very hard to defend the red ones. now i fall defeated and find myself supporting every inch of what Blu-Ray has to offer.

laugh.gif

anyway, for those who've ordered TDK, don't forget to sign up for the live community chat with Chris Nolan! only the first 10,000 registered will get IINM. or was it 100,000?

i tried to register, but it says i'm not eligible for it. don't think it's because of country, cos i tried signing up under US, still got the same message. Maybe it's not open yet? hmm.gif

woooh dasattt!!

i wonder what these movie studios will do with terabytes of space. i personally would love the idea of actually having a lifelike 3d rendered model of the actresses in the movie which we can project using 3D holograms, which the PS4 will inevitably support. we can then interact with these models as they support voice, speech recognition and they have a plethora of pre-recorded reactions/responses.

pretty much the right time to save for new adult movies huh? sweat.gif whistling.gif whistling.gif whistling.gif

Baraka Selected for Blu-Ribbon Showcase

MPI Home Video has announced that their critically acclaimed Blu-ray release of 'Baraka' has been selected for the Blu-Ribbon Showcase at Blu-Con 1.0, a one-day conference advancing the creation, production and distribution of Blu-ray Disc. Christopher Reyna, the restoration director for the release, will be presenting the disc on December 8th at 4:15PM at the Beverly Hills Hotel.

The full press release can be found below:
For Immediate Release

BARAKA SELECTED FOR BLU-RIBBON PRESENTATION AT BLU-CON 1.0

Restoration Producer Christopher Reyna to present

Chicago, IL - December 4, 2008 - The Blu-ray that Roger Ebert coined as “the finest disc I have ever viewed or ever imagined”, Baraka, will be showcased on December 8th at Blu-Con 1.0 in Beverly Hills, as announced today by the MPI Media Group. The first of its kind, 8K UltraDigital HD Baraka will be presented by restoration producer Christopher Reyna on behalf of MPI Home Video.

Baraka was released in 8K UltraDigital HD Blu-ray in October 2008, and has received non-stop critical acclaim ever since. Blu-ray.com coined it as “the current zenith of Blu-ray picture quality”, and Home Theater Magazine called it “one of the most breathtaking Blu-ray titles available”. The trades have been buzzing about Baraka as well, with Home Media Magazine saying the film “sets a new standard on Blu-ray disc” and Video Business said “Baraka vividly shows what hi-def picture and sound is all about.”

Christopher Reyna will be presenting on Monday, December 8th at 4:15pm at the Beverly Hills Hotel during the Blu-Ribbon Showcase at Blu-Con 1.0.

The MPI Media Group is a leading independent producer, distributor, and licensor of feature films, news documentaries, concert performances, classic television programs and more.

Blu-Con 1.0 is a one-day conference advancing the creation, production and distribution of Blu-ray Disc. This workshop is designed to provide a forum for industry insiders to share their perspectives on innovative technologies behind the Blu-ray format. It will also be an unprecedented gathering of movie studios, and their service provider partners, to discuss how to advance the marketplace, build technology relationships, and increase efficiencies in the manufacture of Blu-ray Disc products.

No, I don't think DVD will be tossed up like VCD but VCD definitely will be tossed up like VHS tapes.

A good BD player can upscale a good original DVD to near HiDef quality but definitely doesn't work well
for fakes or pirated D9 craps.

For VCDs, this should never have taken off in Asia but some poor folks in Malaysia are conned
into this format, are stupid enough to buy VCD only players as even as late as last year.
Shops like Speedy and HVN should stop selling VCDs immediately. It doesn't make economic sense to
continue to remaster and downgrade movies to VCDs format.

yeah..if you loved TDK as a movie, then you'll love the BD.

only one minor complaint though...i think there's too little supplements for TDK. i mean yeah, you have an extra disc for just the supplements, but it's still lacking of a good behind the scenes feature. there are a few short interviews with christian bale, but no sign of the rest.

is it because this is to honor heath ledger's death?

but anyway, the supplements are quite interesting (including one real psychological take on batman's character and the villains) and all in HD (1080i).

so yeah, still..it's one BD you all should not miss!

p.s: i still think the dialogue was a bit too low in the early part of the movie. especially ones with Gordon. sweat.gif

i second this. right now, it's gonna be DVD and BD in malaysia.

although blu-ray is the future, in malaysia, it may not be the primary choice for now. if you're talking original BDs, it will be a primary choice soon enough, seeing that BDPs are getting cheaper as well as the PS3.

however, as long as original BDs still have that 149 tag price, i'm pretty sure that DVD players will still reign supreme, seeing that now ppl will resort to the lower end of the high def experience (BD rips).
