hidefdvd...they always ship out early. the only con is that their prices are a bit expensive. don't worry... you'll be hearing some tdk early sales here...
some internal shots, and the back » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « will give a quick review later. This post has been edited by Sd-RawK-Cab25: Nov 27 2008, 08:51 PM |

okay, just finished watching TDK, so here's my review:
Movie: This one should be simple enough. For those who have seen this at the movies, it's a no brainer. I still say this is one of the best (if not the ONLY) adaptation of a comic book hero. Basically, it's Batman if it happens in our REAL world. And it don't come any real than the world envisioned by Nolan. The story in TDK is much stronger as a follow up to Batman Begins, and it has Batman's No. 1 enemy in it, which also turned out to be the BEST character played by the late Heath Ledger, and hands-down the BEST representation of The Joker since Cesar Romero and Jack Nicholson. This isn't your Fantastic Four-like adaptation. No, no...it's a god-damn crime thriller on its own. Rating: 6/5...although it's not logical, but hell...it's just a bloody good movie PQ: With great story reputation, comes great PQ. Warner delivers TDK with the exact PQ which was expected. I know it may be unfair to compare the PQ to the one in the cinema, but I must say...watching TDK on Blu does really make a BIG difference. The colors are never subdued OR oversaturated. As TDK has different tones (orange-brown for the night scenes and bluish for the Gotham day scenes), it all just pops out nicely. I really can't comment more on the PQ as it's just as good as any current blockbuster blu-ray title. It's clean, crisp and hell...even the yellow in Joker's teeth is clear. It just makes his teeth closer to your face. You can practically imagine the smell that comes with it. One thing to note, as some of us are aware, TDK will have shifting ratios. Particularly for the IMAX scenes. It really doesn't take you out of the movie flow (which I thought will happen), and true enough..whenever the IMAX scenes play...you get that feeling of the large screen. I love it that the whole Joker truck flip scene is in IMAX format, as is with all the cityscape shots. Overall, 5/5. AQ: Dolby TrueHD. Same as Batman Begins? Not really. It's better this time around. You probably won't get to enjoy the fullness of the bass thumps at the beginning, but towards the middle part of the movie till the end...each explosion, crash, gunshot, punch, kick just thumps with awesome intensity. The earlier part, where there's a lot of dialogue happening, you may not hear the impact of the lossless audio. They somehow didn't use much of the surrounds throughout the movie, but there are occasional enveloping sounds. However, 99% of the time, dialogue is crisp and clear. The haunting soundtrack is played clearly on the fronts, and it really heightens the emotions in the movie. Only one thing to note: TDK is also set the same as other Warner titles - movie starts automatically and the default audio is Dolby Digital. So you need to set it to Dolby TrueHD at the start of the movie. Other than that, it's awesome. 5/5. I haven't checked the supplements, but i'm sure it's going to be awesome as well. A must-buy, no-brainer!! |

QUOTE(horray @ Nov 28 2008, 12:00 AM) cannn. just to add on my review earlier: if anyone seemed to have problems on the fast action, blurriness and all...well after watching the BD..i can safely say...it's much..much clearer and it just seems to be a very different experience watching it on BD. biasa la...miss syaFINAS already hungry laa...want to eat turkey for thanksgiving.
but lucky didn't have to pay any charge. and my amazoo box was not raped. but it took 3 weeks, and i know exactly why: they are understaffed. only 2 people who are in charge of the release permit, and one of them is 'problematic'. the other guy pulak is busy with 'meetings' and whatnot. (believe me, i hunted them at LPF to the point i got his HP number) so, 3 blardi weeks they simpan...konon2 they will check what title, quantity. Mine was ONE title, and it's hellboy. but since they didn't even open my package, so they most probably would've read the invoice anyway. another title awaiting release is Tropic Thunder, and I will be selling it as soon as I get it. So, stay tuned. |

QUOTE(anfieldude @ Dec 1 2008, 02:44 PM) Wanted Steelbook available in Amazon UK. How is this movie? Anyone has watched the BD? the movie is not bad...it has the same feel of the graphic novel...only that it's more rooted in realism. however, i don't think that this movie would be for everyone. i'd give it a 4/5 though..it's a fun and fast paced movie...but somehow the plot is a bit too light. maybe i'm biased cos i read the novel..but yeah..it's a fun fast paced action movie.Wanted Steelbook - Amazon UK the PQ, i give it a 5/5. very clean with the right flesh tones, and suits the director's style of directing (see day watch and night watch). the AQ, i'd give it a 5/5 as well...dialogue is clear, and the action is superb. the bullet whizzes by...and trust me, since this movie has a lot of bullet time effects, the thumps of the heartbeats and the bass of the slow motion is felt awesomely. |

what i can tell you guys is, at this time of recession, summore now it's towards year end...try not to buy above the 500 limit.
i mean come on..look at my case...ONE measly title also kena tahan. they cannot tax me, so they give it to FINAS, where they did nothing at all (fact which i'm thankful for) for 3 weeks before releasing my title (fact which i'm pissed off). so, just try to follow the proper channels...go into stealth mode or whatever. bulk safely guys. I quote that Russian dude from TDK - "Theeezz dawwggs...arrrrrre honnggggreehhh!!" |

QUOTE(kkChan @ Dec 1 2008, 07:23 PM) From Amazoo: you used standard or courier?Anyone has experience in refusing the shipment before?? Do we have to pay the the postal carrier for the return, Amazoo asks us to us their carrier, so we cannot ask our beloved postman to send back right?? How do we know if Amazoo has received the refused goods? They will not refund us if they did not receive, right?? Why dont they just compensate us the price difference, stupid Amazoo!!! standard, i'm not sure how the policy is like. but for courier, if DHL, it's gonna be a pain..depending on who you talk to. i was pissed off with DHL cos they had different rules...one said return to amazon was simple, just let DHL know, they send to amazon, we click return an item on amazon.com, and amazon will bear the costs. another person said, you have to have black and white, this letter, that letter, signed by bla bla bla, then only can return. so depends on your situation la. not sure about postal though. not to be pessimistic or what, but knowing our beloved government, expect a simple process to be a b****. |

QUOTE(piscesguy @ Dec 2 2008, 12:08 PM) QUOTE(jep @ Dec 2 2008, 12:10 PM) Yup...if say US is perfect...then on some other countries like france...the Medical is F.O.C compared to US...nobody's perfect that's why i made that statement. my follow up would be: you may think it's cheaper for an item by conversion, but once you stay at the country itself, the cost of living is probably parallel to ours, give or take a few things la. you compare a loaf of bread in country A for example, maybe by conversion it's RM 1 (example la)..so we think it's cheap la right? but if we stay at country A, the cost of the bread is A$3.50, and our salary in country A is about A$2500. So living there, it's parallel to our salary of RM 2500, and cost of bread is RM 3.50. correct me if i'm wrong though..i suck at economics. |

QUOTE(kobe8byrant @ Dec 4 2008, 12:04 AM) sony has included a mechanism with Firmware 2.50 where it will release millions of tiny pac-man like chompers to destroy the lens when it detects pirated BDs played in the console.on a more serious note, people say that the uneven levels of the discs may cause faster deterioration of the lens. you can try watching pirated bds, and tell us if your lens survive or not. maybe you can bust some myths out there. or maybe shell out 300 bucks to change lens. your call dude! i oso dunno if its true or not, but i don't wanna risk my console's health.
