Hi guys, would like to ask how would they verify that i'm a student to receive the student discount? I'm on the payment screen but they still have not ask for any form of proof or evidence that i am indeed a student.

Just proceed. Usually they don't check unless you're buying too many Macs in a year.

here's the process. go to store.apple.com/my. click the "Education" section on the left. proceed with your purchase as usual.

At random times, Apple employees will contact random customers and request verification. This would be any form of ID or document identifying you as a student or educator in a local institution.
If you're purchasing for a friend or relative, submit their ID / document, and mention the relationship.

Would like to ask those who have used Maybank Visa Debit to purchase before from Apple Store Msia...

Just now, few hours back, I've used my debit to purchase an iTouch 32gb along with the gift packaging as well, totalling RM1098. I came home few hours later, and check the status on apple's website, it says that authorization failed, and I will need to call up my bank or apple. I clicked on authorize the same card again, then another RM19 is deducted from my account. The RM19 I assume is for the gift packaging.

Anyone encounter such problem before? Any idea how do I solve such issue? Thanks in advance

I saw ur post. And I follow the steps. Just that I really cannot find the list. I got friends in college but not lim kok wing. So I am curious on college like Taylor or MIA can entitle for the discount or not. Sorry if u feel that I am ignore ur reply.

Apple Asia is giving everyone who purchases thru the online store the Edu discount. there's no list of approved colleges.
just follow my steps, and order. if Apple ever asks you to prove that you're a student, prepare some documents.

so did u manage to order the ipod touch? if no, probably because of the rm1000 limit per day? if im not mistaken, that's the default limit for withdrawals, transfers n debit card transactions

i just bought a miniDP-to-VGA adapter using my maybank visa debit card, the cherry one. it went smooth.

dvlzplayground: when i reauthorize again, it finally went through, but deducted additional RM19 lor... no prob edi, this morning, maybank called me up to confirm the payment to apple, and check if its legit... and ya, i've changed my limit to max 5k per day bfor this

last 2 months i bought mbp using education program.
apple didnt ask to verify my id or any document.
so u can buy once a year.
i ordered monday.apple ship from sg to my only takes a few hour.i get mine on thursday everning.so fast woo.

juz wanna share something weird. i ordered a miniDP-to-VGA adapter from the online store using maybank debit card. the next day, i checked the order status and it said my bank did not authorize the purchase. no big deal, went to a local reseller and bought one. this was on 1/10/2010.

today i got an email from the apple online store saying my adapter is shipping. i checked at m2u and my rm129 was already deducted +_+

RM129? That sucks. The adapter's RM99 in the Machines (KLCC).

Have you called the Apple Online Store and see if there's a way out?

hermm..... it's best to use the online store only if you wan to buy things u cant realy get in Machines store (eg: Incase sleeves, etc). otherwise i think living in the real world is better lol (just go to the nearest apple reseller)
