Yeah they call it custom clearing fee, or something like that. GST 6% + additional RM50. I don't know if FedEx has it imposed or not

so since mine is a computer which has radio capabilities, i m sure if bad luck enough, they will tahan my item and ask me to apply SIRIM. usually how much it costs for that? how should i do that?

Should be 6% GST if cif (cost+insurance+freight) > RM500. No import duty

Did you use amazon shipping or 3rd party freight forwarding company such as Comgateway? That's really lucky rclxms.gif

Can anyone please advise on below:

CIF
C-Cost of imported product
I- Shipment insurance
F - Freight cost

My question, the F portion is as per actual freight/shipping cost or calculated as per government "jadual kos tambang bagi dagangan"?

Thanks in advance.

Incoterms (EXW, FCA, FAS, FOB, etc....) is only trade's transportation contract/mode between seller & buyer. It doesn't effect with Customs duty/tax calculation.
"Jadual kos tambang bagi dagangan" use in Customs duty/tax calculation is fix by IATA rate worldwide. They use terms CIF for it because it is mostly standard freight terms use in cross-border trade.

Hi all, good day.

I would like to buy a road bike (made in Taiwan) from Singapore, it cost about S$3500, I will buy then bring it into Jb through Jb checkpoint by using my car.

May I know do I need to pay the 6% GST or/and import tax (bike's origin is from Taiwan) as well?

Is there any black and white sorces states the duty breakdown or descriptions?

Thanks in advance. Have a nice day all... smile.gif

Bike is motorbike or bicycle? Refer my previous post below for bicycle. It only 1 time import duty/tax (Malaysia's entrance) only. Doesn't matter where is the origin.

What type of bicycle?

Racing bicycle (HS# 8712.00 110) 0% import duty + 6% GST
Children's bicycle (HS# 8712.00 120) 0% import duty + 6% GST but need Import licensed (MDTCC)
Other that above (HS# 8712.00 190) 25% import duty + 6% GST

And I have this book as well for my job references:

Not too sure how they classified racing or others. Maybe depend on the items catalog itself to prove it's racing bicycle, otherwise it will fall under 'others' category.

*Edit: Origin (invoicing country) is matter as Customs use it to get freight rate. So if your invoice is from SG, freight rate will be cheaper compare if you declare it from Taiwan (using Taiwan invoice).

Hi Kherel, thank for your professional advise.
For example, if now i plan to import a some goods from China to Malaysia and I am hiring some shipping agent, then all the taxes and duty will be settled by shipping agent?
Sorry for my innocent smile.gif

It depends too. If you appointed yourself for custom clearance, or you refused to pay them, they wouldn't clear it for you
