What type of bicycle?

Racing bicycle (HS# 8712.00 110) 0% import duty + 6% GST
Children's bicycle (HS# 8712.00 120) 0% import duty + 6% GST but need Import licensed (MDTCC)
Other that above (HS# 8712.00 190) 25% import duty + 6% GST

Just for sharing...

Ok, this calculation is base on book only.

Invoice value: USD60.00 / RM268 ; Ex-rate=4.47
Freight: Min charge - RM421.59 (IATA rate)
10% insurance value: RM26.80
Total CIF value: RM716.39 (sweat.gif >RM500) This value that Customs look if dutiable/taxable or not...

Duty 20%:
= CIF value x 20%
=(RM716.39) x 20%
= RM143.28

6% GST:
= (CIF Value + duty) x 6%
= RM51.58

*This not including process fees by courier, normally RM30-50 per shipment. Pray hard Customs will close their eyes for this small parcel...and exempt the duty/tax notworthy.gif

For some reason, I can't access the Import Duties website.

May I know what is the import duty for Cordless Power Tools including the battery and battery charger. I have some cordless tools from the USA and I need new batteries for it, which are not available here. Will custom confiscate the charger and batteries ?

Will importing an Sabrent USB hub with power adapter cause any issues ? As far as I know, power adapters are not restricted due to low power.

I thought of separating my packages to below the RM 500 value but the weight of the package might Red flag them to check.

Please advice.

Thank you.

Free shipping that you get from seller doesn't effect anything in Customs duty/tax calculation. Shipping rate that Customs Malaysia use is base on IATA rate & it standardize worldwide. As per last info I got, minimum IATA shipping/freight rate from USA to Malaysia is RM421.59.

0% Import duty, 6% GST for complete set (mentioned in the invoice). If separated, 5% Import duty + 6% GST for battery/charger. Not sure if need SIRIM approval or not.
Packaging weight is effecting the shipping rate in duty/tax calculation.

Complete set as in Combo Kit ?

Hmm .. there seems to be a difference in the Import Duty you mentioned. I got a shocked when I got my reply from customs

---------
RMCD Call Centre <ccc@customs.gov.my>
Dear Valued Customer,

The HS Heading for battery is correct at 8507. However, the remaining code is depending on your type of battery. What we can ensure is the battery is subject to 20% import duty and 6% GST.
------------------

If it is 5% then I don't mind but 20% is crazy.

So if above RM 500, let's say USD 243.50 = RM1047 (inclusive shipping & insurance) at a weight of 9lb = 4.08KG what would be the calculation be ?

Thanks kherel77.

Full set: Mention in the invoice as "Cordless Hand Drill c/w Accesories". Then it only have 1 HS Code.
Seperated: Mention in the invoice by itemized all item. Becoz different item have different HS Code. For exp.:
1 x Cordless Hand Drill
1 x Battery
1 x Battery Charger
1 x Tools

Sorry for wrong info about battery HS Code. Today i check in the Customs Duties Order Book, found most battery is 20-25% duty + 6% GST
8507.10 xxx Lead-acid for piston engine use 25%
8507.20 xxx Lead-acid 20%
8507.30 xxx Nickel-Cadmium 20%
8507.40 xxx Nickel-Iron 20%
8507.50 xxx Nickel-Metal Hydride 20%
8507.60 xxx Lithium-Ion 20%
8507.80 xxx Other type 20%

Est. duty calculation for your items is like:
(Shipping + Insurance + freight rate) x Import duty
(RM1047 + RM421.59) x 20% = RM293.71

Est. GST:
(Shipping + Insurance + freight rate + Import duty) x 6%
(RM1047 + RM421.59 + RM293.71) x 6% = RM105.74

Total duty & GST ~ RM399.45

COUNTRIES IATA Minimum Charge Normal<45kg >45kg >100kg >300kg >500kg
USA US RM421.59 RM43.68/kg RM33.59/kg RM29.54/kg RM16.46/kg RM16.46/kg

Hello, I am going to buy a 40 inch Monitor from Korea and is wondering how much would it cost in term of custom duty for such item.

It is a huge monitor (which also comes with remote for OSD controls), so I guess it's possible to declare it as either a TV or monitor, which item should I declare it as to get lower duty rate?
