Quite a lot of the exclusive rants are fanboyish pleas.

HOWEVER, do note that owning a video game console (or gaming PC) is an investment. Therefore, chances are, exclusives are a big deal when thinking of a gaming console to purchase.

For instance, if both PS3 and 360 are getting most of the games a person wants, the choice then comes down to say...MGS4, which is PS3 exclusive. So the person buys a PS3.

Much later on, MGS4 comes out, and a few months later, MGS4 also comes out for the 360. This might not seem like such a big deal, but after such a time has passed, say the person now wants more games on 360. Like Gears of War 2, for instance.

See the picture? The person will now perceive himself to have "wasted" money in buying a PS3 because they couldn't foretell the future (who could?) and have technically, with the announcement of X game being released on X console, made the wrong choice in purchasing a console, on top of any other factors that may have influenced the decision (other games, lower RROD perhaps, or maybe free online, etc).

But to tell the truth huh

Its been more than 2 years and the results is still the same. I have been hoping that it will get better because i bet on the PS3 too, but so far the PS3 is still lagging behind despite all the "Potential" power it got. Maybe its only a myth that can never materialise.

Maybe next year....

Lagging behind?? lag what?? The devs aint tapped into the full horsepower of the ps3 yet. Even the PS2 needs almost 4 years before dominating the console market. And the result aren't the same. The PS3 has improved a lot since they launch their console. The PSN is getting better, and better games are heading to the ps3. As the 360 heading out in maybe a couple of years, the ps3 is best bet for future gaming. do some research, the ps3 sales are doing well after the released of MGS4 and the price cut. Actually, it has increase over 192% this year. So the results is not the same

No, i may sound like a fanboy but im not. I owned 3 consoles (at least 2 coz my 360 died on me again).

if 360 is heading out in the near future, sony SHOULD be worried then. obviously the next gen of xbox will feature better graphics and better specs. so in a way PS3 suddenly became obsolete. does sony afford to play catch up again?

read around the net. PS3 is not as powerful as sony wants you to believe. it is only comparable with the 360. that is the fact. and i know it's hard to swallow. but it's the reality.

like someone said here, it's about their investment and how that investment should be justified. well, they got cheated by sony's marketing. and sony didn't deliver what they promised.

remember when ps2 was about to come out? how they said it can do FMV quality graphics in real time? it's 2008 now.. i didn't see it yet from that machine.

remember when ps3 was about to come out, they played the killzone trailer and looks like it beats everything in terms of graphic and detail? tell me now, since killzone is about to be released soon, did it feature that kinda graphic?

in fact, ppl here are talking about the "untapped" power of PS3. to do what? making your coffee? iron your clothes?
it's obvious they are talking about graphics rite?

anyway those killzone trailer screens are on low res and blurry compared to the killzone 2 screen grabs.
try comparing it against higher definition trailer and you'll get what i mean.

Yes, the PS2 does not bring FMV quality in real time, but the machine is still succesfull. IT seems that u based the PS2 on its grpahic power, not those great games like Okami and Yakuza that was released on the system. Even how dull the the graphic was, the core thing about gaming machines is about the gameplay.

Why some of us still favour playing SNES? Because great gameplay can be found in the games that were released on that system.

Im just giving opinions, im not stating facts.

When Dreamcast get the dice rolling, Sony:
"look, PS2 can do FMV quality in real time *showing FFVIII dancing scene*", and up to this day, still no such quality.

When MS gets the 360 rolling:
"ew, so many (2 at that time) SKUs only confused the consumers", and now they have at least 6 different SKUs.
"rumble technology is a thing of the past, it's all about six axis in the future", and now they are pushing hard for the DS3.
"Xenon? Our CPU are couple times more powerful than that, good luck!" and 2 years on still haven't been able to show such "power", and always hide their inferior GPU spec.

When Nintendo announced Wii:
"That's not innovation gamers wanted", and come out with the "godly" but garbage six axis.

Other stuff:
Look at the amount of HDMI and USB ports first proposed, and look at the specs first proposed, you must be blind not to realize the current PS3 is a watered down version of the plan.

Conclusion:
I have nothing against PS3, nor PS2 and PS1, heck, no one is a bigger supporter than me in this forum I dare to say. It's just that I don't like the company as a whole with their lies and tricks. As a gamer I just play whatever game that's good without caring what console they are on.

I'm glad I can play my arcade games. they're exclusive and never cost more than RM2!
