guys,
just for info..
http://kereta.info/the-reality-controversy...-apxproton-msx/

prob'ly proton mpv used different engine only & the shell ofcourse ..
your eastar was jointly developed with lotus..and who's lotus tokey ?
you guess..

I dont have chery/alado eastar, I'm an old toyota man all this while but I'm not bias.
Last time when I bought my rare species toyota cynos I'm facing lot's of criticism like you all do, but those ppl who just hantam2 are not the one whose driving it. 2nd value, maintenance is avery subjective matters.

Good luck and enjoy your rides.

Sincere

Hi chery community members, I've just got my car last Friday and have drove 800+ KM within 3 days. Really enjoy the car and just driving around without any purpose. Going to send for first service in 2 days' time. The following are defects found on the car, not sure anyone has the same problem.

1) Front Right side Dorr panel, plastic clip can't hold tight. After closing door few time, it disengaged.
2) Rear view mirror on windscreen is loosen and jerking. Can turn left-right via the mounting on the glass panel.
3) Dirver side, seat height adjustment knob, tercabut and can't fit tightly.
4) Centre console utility box, cannot engage properly, always open by itself.
5) Some jerking (like loose plastic) inside dashboard, not sure what is that. Anyone?
6) 2nd role seat, left side, cannot smoothly close (the folding area) after putting it flat. i suspect cannot engage properly too adter lying flat.
7) 3rd role, right side, the pulling cable is loose causing the handle from boot area open a bit and shaking when driving.
8) Driver side, compartment box underneath the dashboard, cannot close properly, can see some gap after close.
9) Alignment out, sway left. Steering wheel jerk at 100km/h speed.

BTW, first tank, RM 130 @ 1.90/l gave me 610km. It's 8.8 km/l.

386, amazing...on your FC. Can you describe more details on your driving mode, speed etc... to reach this mileage?
Hope all Easterian can report on their FC in this forum for reference.

Anyway, for your problems, I believe the SC can fix it, just need to be there as early as 9am as there're more cars going to the SC nowadays...probably you need to wait 3-4 hours for each car. Another common problem, fogging on the headlamps...to solve it one sealant need to be removed...the SC know about it, just need to let them know if you're encountering this problem.

Good Luck!

hi Enigma

sellers can be put into a special zone in the website

maybe sellers can pay a small fee say RM 30 per month to advertise or about RM 300 per year or whatever fair amount

this amount can be used for webhosting and domain fee set off

my 2 cents

Dynasan,

The 8.8km/l is achieve via the following: -

1) 75% high way at 100 km/h speed (since it has not run in, didn't accelerate much), RPM kept at below 2700)
2) 25% town drive, start stop traffic, highest achievable speed is 60km/h.
3) No hard acceleration out from traffic light.

In fact just pumped petrol yesterday, it's 9.05 km/l.

386, you calculated your mileage manually right, as they are no tripmeter in Eastar, anyway look like you did take good care on your car, before my first 1000km, I'd already push to 150km on the highway, now felt a bit regret...

azazza71, how is your problems on the braking, solved?

Another problem I found in this Eastar (not sure whether it is a design defect), try to start your engine and run it for around 15-20 mins, then only switch on the Aircon, the AC compressor will not start (no cold air). Anyone had this problem? Checked with SC and they found some connector faulty and replaced it but the problem still present. Only way to solve it now
1. Always switch "on" the AC after you'd start the engine
2. If the problem arise, switch off the engine and then wait for 5-10 mins & switch back the AC once the engine is started.
note: you can hear a click sound when the AC is switch on to confirm that the compressor is working

If the compressor is not switch on, and you kept the engine running for a while, you can feel that the engine compartment is overheating, you can touch the engine bonnet on both side to feel it.

Chief (Enigma), did you had this problem on your car?

Added on December 11, 2008, 10:23 pmTalked with the SC regarding to the AC problem and they need to replace one defect part and to them it is a known problem... sad.gif
Thought they should do a recall to check all the delivered car.

my Chery has the dongle and it was delivered on 28 October 2008 - no roof rack

the dongle is where you can adjust the clock and the trip meter

Dynasan..

My braking problem seems solved. Last attempts by SC, they said that do adjust the braking a bit higher. It is OK for me.So far so good.. but they did not adjust my hand brake. Quite high. Will ask to adjust lower a bit .Yesterday SC said their open for business but only with 1 mechanic. The rest on MC. Cancell my 1000KM service as it will takes longer than usual. Will send for 1000km on next week. Another need SC to check there is a sound of wind when i drove 80km/h and above. Anyone has this problem ???
