As for same batch same diet that have differ result - I suspect genetic or individual absorbing power towards same type of food item !! ie in us human not all heavy smoker get lung cancer or one who frequent KFC get fat and have heart disease ...etc

Back to our KK friend's aldabra
- Bought them as hatchlings of about 3.5 inches in 03/08
- Somehow both grew great for a while but one died after 09/08
- Sold to me 05/09
[attachmentid=1280131]
As at 03/08
[attachmentid=1280188]
Pic Just taken as at 30/10/09 about 6 mths after some intervention/plying the fused scutes off Overall carapace shape improved
The blue line are where the fused scutes are !!
But same as below Star Tortoise
http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/823936/+640
[attachmentid=1280178]slackerz and Skatila pls dont flame me for using your pic OK THANKS

WTF! You mean something as deformed as that could still be corrected? That's awesome!

By the way, what do you mean by "plying"? Molding? Shaping?
*
If you send that recent pic to that KK friend and tell him its his Aldabra and close to 8 inch now he will know the difference !! Before one could describe it as the HunchBack Tortoise of KK LOL as the 3 fused scute are really denying that part(left) much growth while the right part and the rest of body growing like crazy (maybe junk and too much food) Receive it at about 7 inches (03/08 to 05/09 is about 14 months ) about 3.5 inch growth inbetween !!

As need to speed up and slow certain part of the carapace growth I slow him down to 1 inch for the 6 mths I got it !! Wala - the result all can see I think need another 6 mths to a yr to make the difference almost invisible LOL

If noticed before grown out of control easier to correct !! these kind of condition especially common in specimen held for awhile in sellers' hand and wrong food , husbandry given/used !!

LOL! You know what? If I am not mistaken, there were two others (ynis) that had the same problem. LOL!
*
Really ?? I did not know as he have not shown me !! A fellow forumner will be upset as were sold by him

Setup of his simple enclosure ? or diet ? as the Yni were also hatchling size when he got them back in early 08 !!

Saw his juv Sulcata ? Whats your comment on that guy ? - Its pre-a forum you know !! All the other adult size animals are bought likewise thus should not have any compliant !!

for now it's ok as it's still small... but yet it's still not recommended to add all the 3 turtles together... matamata is an exotic ones... u don want it to lose a leg or two kuar...

snapping turtle is agressive when they are pissed... hahaa!

not recommended... separate all of them better...

QUOTE(budblely @ Nov 1 2009, 06:08 PM)
Thanks for your advise bro...need have a well preparation before addon more turtle..XD
*
If not sure or no experiences why give such recommandation ?? AST of all ages are lethal to all other specimen of similar size , expecially a slower moving(dont move much) sp like MataMata !! And also MataMata have slightly different requirement in the water and condition they live in (live well not just to survive )!!

As for the 2 AST they are OK to live togather - proven with pic (did I not ? )

Thanks Bro Samperth. Is the any website i can get more information about MataMata regarding "different requirement in the water and condition they live in". Or any guideline u can teach? Thanks
*
They do better in softer , lower pH , slow moving water ie black water !! My sources are mostly books but there should be internet sources on them just Google !!

i got no mata mata n yes, i got no xperience on it but 4 smaller ast, they can mix. jst tat it's not recommended as i said. separating them is a better choice.

wink.gif
*
Base of what you say they can mix when small ?? Try throw in a few similar or slightly larger size RES as tankmate and see what happen ?

Dont just assume small AST wont do any harm to other type of turtle !!!

hi guys  my chinese stripe neck turtle (May), has been affected by MBD i think earlier when she was an hatchling but now she is doing ok and eating ok, the only problem is that a part of her mouth rotten and dropped, now its not as soft as before but i don't know if it will grow bak, i hope so though... sad.gif  do you guys have any opinion (apart "you are such an a**" sort of opinions  tongue.gif ), anyone has seen this before? advice needed thanks  smile.gif
*
You sure MBD ? verifed or told by Vet ? As MBD dont usually "attack" the mouth but rather limbs and shell !!

a gentleman by the name of rafiqos sell sucata.
Ic ic, i am very interested in star tortoise, anyone can recommend a good reputable seller? i will go enquire. Now it's time to save some money biggrin.gif
*
I dont really recomand Indian Star as first tortoise pet !! If price a consideration try Elongata (easier to care for as local specie) I would say below RM 200 a pc and decent size too !!

If you from Sabah I know where you can get all your mention sp Sulcata , Indian Star , Elongata .....etc and many more , some at cheaper than KL price (I think )

hi there, price is a minor consideration as compare to the beauty of these beautiful tortoise. Btw, i am curious as to why it is not recommended to keep indian star as first tortoise? How are these indian star priced?
*
If price only a minor consideration go for Radiated give or take RM 1000 for a small one but a lot easier to care for !! I.Star especially those below 3 inch SCL get sick easily and no or narrow return from there !!!

Just part of my Tortoise collection !! All sp I have more than 1 if you wanna ask !!

If you use different country as Query try Elongata from mainland asia and Forsten's Tortoise from an Island in Indon !!

I only have 2 type of setup for all my Tortoises !!
