i also saw similar notebook cooler in lowyat plaza not sure what brand is that, but kinda cheap

i dont know it works or not by placing the fan at the center, maybe i will go for the zalman cooler with a single big fan at the center or cooler master with 2 or 3 fan at the top position.

QUOTE(666Pride @ Oct 30 2009, 09:16 PM)
Hi, I'm currently looking for a laptop to replace my incompetent overheat dell xps 1530 and throughout research through internet and experiences, I'm planning to order sager np8662 from mucro around mid of this November after my uni exam over.
Main reasons why i choose mucro probably because they offer warranty service at lowyat and I prefer it that way so that I can know whats wrong with my laptop and easier to make face-to-face contact with them.

Here's the specs I'm choosing:
Mucro Sager NP8662
Screen and Screen Type: 15.4 inch WSXGA+/GT
Graphics Card: nVIDIA GeForce GTX 260M w/1G
SYSTEM CPU: C2 DUO 2.80 GHz P9700 (+ MYR573.74)
SYSTEM MEMORY|*2 DIMMs: 4GB* DDR3 1066MHz (+ MYR183.60)
HARD DISK DRIVE UPGRADE: 500G 7200rpm SATA II (+ MYR275.39)
Wireless: Intel Wi-Fi Link 5300AGN
OS: MS Windows 7 Home Premium
OPTICAL DISK DRIVE: 8X Multi Drive
Addon Slot 1: none
Express Card Slot: none
External: none
Carrying Bag: Carrying Bagng Bag
OFFICIAL Sager Warranty | parts: 1 year warranty(parts)
Addon Local Mucro Warranty | labour: 3 year Regional carryin (labour) (+ MYR260.10)
Extra AC Adapter: none
Extra Battery: none
Car Adapter: none
Mouse Addon: none

Total cost: MYR6,218.85

However I have few things that I would like to know:

1. Is this specs is good enough for any upcoming games next year such as starcraft 2 or diablo 3?
2. Will I be facing heat problems with this specs particularly the HDD heat?
3. Does the 500G 7200rmp generate more heat than the 300G 7200rmp?
4. The window 7 home premium, is it 64 or 32 bit? Cause I prefer 32-bit or the 64-bit have more advantages than 32-bit?
5. What happen to the option of 15.4" (16:10) WUXGA (1920x1200) with Matt Finished Type Screen because the last time I check the option was available?
6. How long will the laptop reach here in Malaysia from Singapore? I'm staying in Selangor, Subang Jaya.

Sorry for asking too many questions, I'm still new to this sager laptop tongue.gif
Oh and by the way, I noticed that mucro have give 2% discount for the laptop price but the warranty price also increases a bit. Pretty smart attracting the customers and maintaining the price at the same time XD

go google and type "sager NP8662 problems"

you will notice there is almost zero complain about hardware and overheat.

i got those, but somehow not really good, the plug very loose after plug, sometime will hear "plak plak" sound and sometime got little bit of firework laugh.gif

those good one are big and bulky, since i got a faulty HP charger, so was thinking to swap the power cord, i think it is safe to do so hmm.gif

QUOTE(Mucro.Asia @ Oct 31 2009, 07:16 PM)
Theres no high res Matte screen with Sager at all.

For pricing, the odds are not good against us, We are taking the margins from Sager and have to use these margins to service the laptops while the US resellers only have to sell and take margin. We also have to keep the price competitive to give people incentive to buy local. US resellers usually don't have to deal with physical delivery and local warranty since it is usually done by Sager themselves.
The machines from Mucro will always come with the UK/Singapore plug, which is the same as the Malaysian plug. Its a standard plug.

i'm not ordering from mucro, but US

no tax in malaysia, if you order from US and ship it here, you will need to pay the tax charge by US, but when reach malaysia you dont need to pay for tax in malaysia

I am an avid gamer...and i play almost every game there is. That's why I will choose a GPU that's on the high side. Which is the 280, but since AW doesn't have that configuration think i'll go along with sager. Din realise that AW is so heavy...I travel a lot that will be a back breaker. All I care is the power! power for gaming!

Yeah....looks cant deny that AW is awesome. fancy mancy. And good easy warranty too.

And I have not tried a 17" yet...might try it too. But add weight and the bulk.
*
full aluminium case with crazy heatsink inside that keep the system under 80c under heavy gaming for long duration, weight is not an obstacle for gamers to get their laptop flex.gif

heavier is better, carry it around is like doing gym biggrin.gif

QUOTE(msian @ Nov 10 2009, 07:38 PM)
hmm. hello everyone. i am looking to purchase a laptop for gaming purposes. i am not a gamer but want to start playing games like crysis and gta4. i had my mind set on the new dell studio xps 16 for rm3999 but now i realised that lotsa ppl are habing issues with this model. so i decided its not worth investing in a dell. so i pushed my budget to 4.5k in order to game and get a good laptop. i have read many pages from this thread and am somewhat convinced that sager is a good laptop for me eventhough i had not heard abt it before. i also see that we have mucro asia as a distributor. I was wondering if they will be involved in the coming PC fair in KL. unfortunately the sager laptops are still too pricey for me. am looking at the NP8662. i look forward to some help and recommendations from fellow sager owners in helping me decide while mantaining my budget. thanks a lot.
*
maybe you can try NP2098 range at RM3.5k to RM4k

it using ATI 4650 which is quite decent for that price range.

but the FN key and CTRL key are in odd position, so you may need some time to get used to it.

i dont think sage will appear in PC fair, else, everyone will go to the booth and ask "is it a new laptop brand ar?" laugh.gif

QUOTE(msian @ Nov 11 2009, 05:52 AM)
I realise crysis is a demanding game. But the dell is able to play it quite well. look at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8oS2Lr5NhfE
Based on this I imagine the GTX260 card in the NP8662 should be much better? no?
Thats really dissapointing to hear. With 4.5k there is really limited choice actually. According to the mucro asia site the NP8662 is now below RM5k. Yet you suggest a budget of 6K, may i ask why?

Thanks a lot.
*
GTX260 is better, well, the top end of class 1 GPU, what do you expect tongue.gif

QUOTE(msian @ Nov 11 2009, 09:44 AM)
I think you are supposed to convert it to ringgit on their site and there is 0% inport for malaysians. the price is below 5k. ur not supposed to convert it manually.

RM4.5k should be enough to get you a NP8662, but you need to keep in mind that the tax from both country, malaysia got 0% tax, but singapore and US both got tax, not to forget that smile.gif

unless, you ask your friend or relative get your laptop at there, then open the box and bring back only the laptop and documentation, in this way your laptop can escape the tax.

I use different webcam software and its much clearer than the BisonCam  sweat.gif

so which webcam software do you recommend?

i found that my sager doesn't have the directX files, like d3dx9_38.dll, copied some game from my friend and want to try the power of GTX260M but failed, cannot play the game cry.gif

is it the window 7 64bits version will always have a lower performance rating compare to 32bits? my friend's laptop core i7 with GT230M and DDR2 system RAM also score higher than me

Try http://download.cnet.com/ManyCam-Virtual-W...4-10593500.html
I basically just choose the best user web cam software from download.net  tongue.gif

What game are u trying to play anyway? By copied as in copy and paste the whole game into your com? Then, if like that u definitely gonna faces problems when running the games. So far I have tested UT3, Far Cry 2, Fallout 3, Dead Space, RE5, Anno 1404 and Dragon Age Origin (Yes, they all are pirated games. I am a pirate and will take any critic thrown at me  cool2.gif ) and install it by DVD. Don't faces much problem  rolleyes.gif

How low is your rating?
Mine:
Component Details
Processor IntelĀ® Core™2 Duo CPU P9700 @ 2.80GHz 6.4
Memory (RAM) 4.00 GB 6.4
Graphics NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260M  6.8
Gaming graphics 2813 MB Total available graphics memory 6.8
Primary hard disk 201GB Free (298GB Total) 5.8
Base score 5.8 Determined by lowest subscore

The rating seems alright with me  hmm.gif

Added on November 25, 2009, 2:32 pm

Yah, join the war against alienware users (just j.k)  rclxms.gif
Clear for np8690 but the webcam for np8662 is not clear. You have to be in very bright room to get a clearer video. Not that I complaint it very much, just saying it  whistling.gif
*
all my rating is 0.1 lower that yours, while my friend get 6.2 something for the HDD, well, maybe he use 7200RPM, and his GT230m can score 6.4

Added on November 25, 2009, 5:31 pmat first i wonder why my laptop heat all concentrate on the right side of the laptop, after a while then i finally know biggrin.gif

well, i found out 1 thing, when i tilt the laptop upward to allow more fresh air to enter the ventilation hole, the HDD temperature rise to over 60c

when i put the laptop on a plain surface (table surface), the GPU temperature rise but the HDD temperature remain less than 60c, that's strange sweat.gif

when play in college i got no problem, coz everywhere also got aircon most of the time, today my friend played an old 2D game on my laptop during class, power saver, running on battery, and silent mode, after 1 hour the tempature never exceed 65c for GPU and HDD never exceed 55c thumbup.gif
