damn , the NP8690 keyboard is sooooo tempting drool.gif

what would make it absolutely perfect for me is if they had some kind of reduced performance mode so the battery could last for half a day ...

yeah basic specs 4k...dat also i very satisfied liao haha! but i dont understand why fesick's price (inclusive of corei7) will go untill 5.8k the price? i convert from mucro asia (with corei7 ) also the price will be about 5k the most
*
I don't think fesick is a retailer, so he buys it at website price and sells it on to users.

people might just buy thinking they got a good deal in Garage Sales.

havent been on lowyat for a long time tongue.gif need to update the owners list soon rclxms.gif

Replacement for 8690? Why does it need to be replaced? Its like the most powerful 15.6 laptop out there
unless it uses fermi, then it might takes A WHILE... hahaha  tongue.gif

USB 3.0 , nVidia DX11 card are some of the upgrades i'd like to see !

planning to sell one of my sagers for parts to recover at least 60% of cost tongue.gif

may i know what is the material used for casing of Sager's laptop?

is all the models using the same type of material or different depending on series?
*
on all the gaming series , lid and the area around the mouse pad is aluminum , bottom & rear is composites (plastic mostly)

but what gives it the omph are the copper heatsinks for the proc & gc thumbup.gif

neh .........
the Alienware MX-17, the one with DUAL HD5870M
is too too too EXP ..... my budget only enough for NP8690 =.=
so is reconmmend to get FULL HD lcd then the 1600X900 lcd right ??
got any benchmark about 1920x1080 with FULL AA and AF ??
*
honestly , i don't think anyone would really be able to tell the difference of 1600x900 or 1920x1080 on a 15' screen.

i think it'll be more worth it spending on more RAM / HDD space

wooottt ... finally an update from Clevo (Sager's OEM manufacturer)

nVidia GeForce GTX 480M with 2GB of GDDR5. comes with Fermi too biggrin.gif possibly the 1st laptop to do so if it releases on time.

only thing is the size of the card ... apparently only available on 17" and above models

no doubt GTX 480M beat HD5870. i dont think 15" laptop will be able to fit in (15" is my standard of mobility+performance smile.gif )
*
yea, but if the price is right ... i really wouldn't mind the non-portability tongue.gif Sagers are actually cheaper than miniATX setups with equivalent components tongue.gif

For Sager owners, the 17+ " should be able to fit the 480M right? If Eurocom have incorporated it, Sager would follow suit? hmm.gif
*
Definitely, since the nVidia 480GT M is inside a Clevo X8100. And Sagers are built by Clevo smile.gif

U sure that long doc? Maybe give it half a year and a new model of your M17x might come out with that monster of a card! Sager should get it around the same time I think but my guess is it will involve and overhaul of the motherboard and power supply system for both brands.
*
if Eurocom are already taking pre-orders i'll say its a 1 month wait maximum biggrin.gif

not too sure about alienware though, since clevo isn't a well known brand, i doubt they'll "feel the competition" .

is the sager NP8760
almost as same as G73??
because G73 haiz ....
any 1 have review about sager NP8760 ??
*
why the sigh ?

the G73 is nice laptop. Depends on what you want ,

Sager = upgradable, more ports, can do RAID 0, less problems than the G73 (or so i hear)

G73 = warrenty, SSD , looks "nicer" , slightly cheaper if on base config

cooling on both machines are equally good but the G73 dosent use the MXM port so you'll can only put what Asus decides in the GC slot instead of the OEM cards in Sager

i'd go for xotipc.

they're the cheaper option after all.

and if there's the very unlikely chance of having a prob , try to see which component is going wrong, then just send that piece back to the US. Unless of course if it's ur monitor / mobo ... then it's not worth dismantling the whole laptop just to take that out tongue.gif

I think you should wait till Sager / Clevo releases a laptop with USB 3.0 + SATA III .

2 months means you're going over to the UK ?

There's a new 17" by Clevo coming out this month with the nVidia 480GT . Probably wait for that and see what comes with it smile.gif

What do you guys think?  I this price/config basically beats any other laptops within the RM4k price range.
Was considering a Dell Studio XPS 16 but the NP8690's specs blow my mind.

Suggestions? Maybe I should break my budget and get a better processor perhaps?
*
Don't worry about the proc , the i5 won't be a bottleneck. besides, you'll probably be shopping for a new laptop in the next 2-3 years tongue.gif

The stock screen has a lower resolution than the FHD. Better to go with the FHD screen to fully enjoy the power of the laptop.
*
to be honest though , you won't be able to notice the reso difference on a 15" screen. I've got both , and I would suggest getting the lower end screen ... and use the money on other parts smile.gif

long time no visit here tongue.gif

back in the market for another laptop, and it seems Asus is being quite generous recently... rivaling and sometimes even surpassing Sager's price:value ratio

anyone knows how this will fare against what Sager has ? : G53

I configured the Sager NP8690 with the same specs and it came to be 450+USD more exp !

added on both machines,

8GB DDR3
Blueray reader
i7 740M
