QUOTE(super macgyver @ Aug 1 2009, 04:15 PM) u need to find the exact model as ur hdd first. good luck to u. i don't think so can wo.. because the HDD important information such as SN, PN, capacity... etc. are record in each HDD information chip. if you replace with the same MODEL the Serial Number & Part Number doesn't match . unless those 2 HDD PCB board are same SN & PN. i think it still can on, but can't detect>> This post has been edited by sanderz: Aug 1 2009, 05:04 PM

QUOTE(everling @ Aug 1 2009, 10:56 AM) http://www.silentpcreview.com/article844-page5.htmlToo bad the Velociraptor lacks in capacity and that SSDs are better at everything except capacity and, for now, price. WD10EADS uses three 333 MB platters. WD20EADS uses four 500 MB platters. Ah my Bad, been awhile since i did a detail specs on it. But i was (on top of my head) coming from the much improved WD SE16 640 GB with 320 GB x2 platter on it. At that time, other makes needed to reach 320 gb they needed 160gb platters for a single WD 320gb. Bah! i'm typing while alt-tabbing too much. Just saying WD is my current pick YMMV.

Be sure to use an e-SATA external casing if you do get the Black 1TB.
USB casing will bottleneck your Black 1TB from ~90 MB/s (read) down to ~30 MB/s. If using a USB casing, you're better off with the cheaper Green.

I've heard of good things with some of Samsung's SpinPoints. I do not know of the specific models however.
And again, performance is not an issue if you get a USB 2.0 casing.
