Wait a sec..Wats the diffrence between the 3D bd and the normal 1?Is it real 3D effects?haha sorry for my noob question!

Some BD allow you to view the movie in 3D e.g. Journey to the Centre of the Earth and Polar Express. They even supply the 3D glasses for viewing.

Anyone can recommend me a value for money amp for my ps3? I'm using a yamaha right now, with optical in only. So no hdmi. and only dts so no full hd sound.

I don't want to bust my budget so around 2k is max. I'm using paradigm wall mounted speakers, paradigm center, and sub and jbl rears. so its a 5.1 set up and not really interested to go all the way to 7.1.

I can't say that I'm happy listening to the newer BRs which do not support dts and so i'm stuck with simulated surround or just strereo hence the need for upgrade.

Check Yamaha RX-V663. It has the latest lossless audio sound and HDMI connections and the price is around RM1800+.

Alternatively for a price around RM2500, you can check out Onkyo TX-SR606 which is an award winner for its price level.

i second horray's suggestion,for about 2k,i'll go for Yamaha 663 or Onkyo 606.

just got back from Quantum of Solace.

In a nutshell, i'm a bit disappointed. I would give it a 4/5 if only i was made to understand that this was a generic, action film with Daniel Craig starring in it.

However, knowing and expecting well that it's a Bond movie, it clearly doesn't reflect it. It was too action oriented..and there's no Bond charm.

What I hated the most is: the lame opening and closing. Not strong enough! And Alicia Keys RUINS THE GODDAMN SONG.

well..i'll still buy it cos it's a Bond film anyway.

QoS 007 = not enough gadgets.. the pc-tech already used in ironman.. no pretty car being destroyed.. bond was sloppy (all accept 1 scene when he skipped over the railings to catwalk on the ledge in the hotel), etc etc

as sdrawk said, i can accept as an action movie staring daniel craig.. but never a Bond movie.. haha

another note.. dont u ever wonder why that chic kept on coming back to the guy even after knowing he tried to kill her (two times in a row)?? i mean.. its either she is Really cheap or.. thats just Bad directing / writing.. lol

i don't think QoS suffers from directing (although i must admit, i'm sick of these quick action cuts and fast paced camera. half the time i can't see what the f is going on onscreen!), but more on the writing.

How i can sum up the plot progression:

continue from CR -> put in a lot of characters and mix their relationship (oh he's good, eh no he's bad) -> at the hour and half mark, just show them what it's all about by making Bond sum it up in his dialogue (we all go OOHH I SEE IT NOW) -> finish.


the problem is, there's not ONE memorable scene/stand out scene. it's all boom-boom, blur there blur here, that's it. It's an okay movie for casual action fans, and those who enjoy explosions more than thinking why it happens.

Actually, I'm now confused if i saw a James Bond movie, or a James BOURNE movie.

Hhaha u know what? when my fren asked me 'so how was QoS?' i answered.. "its like bourne.. part 1 was good, then part 2 just went wtf.. hopefully part3 is back to awesome..

as for the fast paced action thing.. i blame the projector in the cinema for that.. also the movie demands a high contrast ratio projector..

EXACTLY my thoughts. It's just like Bourne. Identity was grounded, and fresh. Supremacy was boring and useless. Ultimatum was superb!

You know, funny thing is Martin Campbell really has a flair for Bond movies. so why the heck doesn't he continue other Bonds?

He did exactly the same for Brosnan with Goldeneye..made him the in thing and it was a pretty damn good Bond movie then..and he did it with CR.

Then you give it to Marc Forster and you get 3 parts Bourne, 1 part Bond, shaken with ice not stirred.

I vote George Lucas for Bond 23, and he will make Bond and co. in full CG and Bond will fight an evil tortoise with pigtails who farts and burps for laughs. It's all for the kiddies right?

anyway, back to BD.


Let's all buy Dr. No on BD and check out how the original Bond was like.
