the p4 architecture was so good that it was 'ported' to s775, even sandwiched into a dual core (pentium D) before the core 2 era.

what to do.... budget mobo is like that. mobo limits the performance. even the highest vcore in bios only allow till 1.6v doh.gif

2.68v vdimm max, no vagp to adjust. cant expect much. the temp is not a problem. just not enough juice to pump it up.

*i am not gay and i dont kiss cpu FYI. lolz..... i took 1hour+ to take out mobo, unplug everything. re-adjust psu cables etc. installing xp120 kill most of my time. block here there. lucky it do its job well. wink.gif

yeah, pentium d had the same heat issues that prescott cores have too sweat.gif

btw, i just got a old dell p4 cpu from my friend. tested it, seems to boot up but no display. tried with my lcd and crt, both came up with no signals. most probably IGP on the mobo kong? it doesnt even have a AGP slot laugh.gif

Max u can go with ya 2.8C is 3.4Gh? Hm.. Sounds abit low as usually low spd proc can be push higher. But then, ya mobo is having problem. I think the result is better then dont have liao.

P/s: Ada cium ur proc? brows.gif
*
@fylon,that is on default vcore only. To reach 3.5GHz need to rasie up the vcore a bit. brows.gif

i do not agree on this statement shakehead.gif if it is as bad as mentioned, sure dell would not be able to penetrate enterprise markets which relies on stability for work productivity. of course we cannot deny component failures but given my experience with dell's after sales services, i would say they are excellent. thumbup.gif

cant see any foxconn label on it..maybe due to the tight dell casing and many wires around laugh.gif
it's a really weird mobo design btw, no agp slot sweat.gif
i dont have a pci graphic card, so now cant test the system, cant check the specs. but everything else seems to be fine though, can boot.
my friend asked me to sell it for him. any takers? brows.gif

@ray,
give dell another chance. maybe your bad experience is from the same bad batch of production for that particular model/series. an example would be the recent nvidia's mobile chipset with integrated geforce 6000/7000/8000 design flaw, has affected massive world wide users, no matter what brand of notebook you purchased. also a good example would be the blown capacitors problem that caused chaos to everyone during 1999-2004 due to the stolen incomplete formula (from the japanese) by china capacitors producers.

@edmin,i will see how is it going first.Next machine on Dell might be considered,i prefer HP more than Dell now.

@fylon,1:1 on edmin's machine will not break 15s on Super PI 1M,he will need more juice to achieve lower run time.
