bro i got the same problem too. i sent to SC at melacca but their workmanship is very3 poor.
my city stay at their SC for one full week but they still cant repair the damn side mirror.
i pissed off then take back my car without repairing.and i think they use a lot of my fuel also, when i sent for repair my tank is full, after i take back my car it left 3/4 tank(dont know what they did to my car)
few months later i sent for service at SC again(this time at service centre near kepong). but then they said they wont touch anything to the side mirror system becoz they suspected me to do some MODIFICATION outside honda SC.coz they found out some cables has been cutted
i told them that great job was done by melacca SC.but kepong SC still cant repair it for me,ask me go back to melacca to repair it.DAMN SHIT!!!

so now i want to ask whether outside workshop can repair it or not?and roughly how much

write a letter to their country manager. they will reply. just make sure you have the repair records from the SC's.

kepong SC cannot reject you. make sure you complain about the stolen fuel too.

good luck.

QUESTION

Anyone have had their front brake rotors changed yet ? I am too lazy to check the disc thickness (what is the minimum thickness anyways). SC is requesting a change.

I have a few other vehicles, some are twice the age of the City non of them needed any disc rotor change at all accept for the W124 E280 (RM80/= per side).

PRICES (correct as of JAN 7th 2010)

Brake rotor RM130/= each

Original brake pads (front set manufactured by Nissin) RM115/=

All of the above is specific for Honda City IDSI 2005.

Can't remember the exact price from SC, will need to check back the receipt.  But I think it should be around RM 300 - RM400.

Currently sending to outside workshop to change since it's cheaper.  Will update you guys once I've managed to locate the old receipt.  smile.gif
Raymond, have you encounter this problem with CITY as well?

My City is year 03 model,i seldom use the windows and maybe it is one of the reason it can stands long. The main window will sometimes short a bit, i will need to close the switch 2-3 times to wind back my window at driver side.

Normally disc rotor not so easily worn out. I dun think that thickness is an issue here but maybe inbalance thicknss of disc rotor. This may due to unproperly fix brake pad etc. Maybe u can ask them to skim your rotor instead. Ask outside see if it really need to be change or skim. Maybe sc mau makan duit..hehe

Thinking of gettting a 4th generation honda city.

Looking for the fuel economy model idsl.

Is it better to buy the non face lift or face lift model ?

Any comments on the problems ie. pros and cons encountered between the 2 models ?

Hi M3!7,

Yup, you can send it to outside workshop to fix as it's cheaper compared to sending to SC. My bill when sending to SC came up to around RM800/++ while when I send to outside workshop it's only around RM600 (inclusive labour). The workshop that I've sent it to, their workmanship is not bad.

Agree with lot101 to write up to their Country Manager on your experience with the Malacca SC and the stolen fuel. Their charges are not cheap and we're sending our cars back to Honda SC believing that they will adopt a professional attitude in handling our precious City. shakehead.gif

Lucky you. thumbup.gif

I've experienced a few of the shorting case at the driver side as well (e.g.: problem winding up using the auto but has no problem when doing it manually). The SC guy say it's probably some dirt sticking at the side which is preventing the window in winding up using the auto. They cleared it and it was working fine after that.

Luckily so far no problem with the 2 back windows. (Touch wood first to be on the safe side) laugh.gif

No,not the oil filter. It is petrol filter. I have called up my mechanic to confirm about this,he said the filter is bounded with the fuel pump. Will need to change only when necessary. Thanks.

200k+ already? blink.gif I guess you might ask your mechanic to check on your timing chain to ensure it is not loosen yet. The rest of maintenance like break fluid, engine oil,CVTF need to be replaced according.

Yeah, my dad bought the car even with its 200k mileage because he knew the guy and the guy had good service record. Ah well, what can I say right? smile.gif As much as i disagree...I still use the car smile.gif

Mmm can anyone like share, what would be the important things that need to be done at the SC lah, this way I can save up on the not so important things that can be done outside.

The SC also said my front arms are weak or something (suspension??) and my mounting too (engine mounting?? quoted me RM 900) so yeah..and need to skim disc (dont rmb how much but quite expensive too). Can all of these be done outside?? Since my car is no longer under warranty..

Its just, what are the sensitive things that needs to be done by the authorized SC, please enlighten, any sifus.

200k km - a hardcore user there. sweat.gif As long as your father satisfy with the car then it is ok. Between, yours is a VTEC or IDSI version? Front arms, guess should be the front absorbers.....Does the car vibrates a lot ? The engine mounting and from absorber i guess will not be that cheap. Skim disc, the rotators are in equivalent both sides? The these jobs can be done at outside shops as long as the mechanics good in repairing cars.
