Sorry to intrude... old honda city owner here (not 4G that is) tongue.gif

Recently just changed the brake pad a few weeks ago and found that now I have to press longer just to brake (sometimes feel like the brakes are not catching). Last time no need to press so much as compare to now can brake even going around 100km can feel that the car is slowing..

Since change to new brake pads have to brake further away before can feel that it's slowing (not sure if you get what I'm trying to say here)

Maybe I'm thinking too much.... sad.gif

Pickup also not as good as well, it'll take sometime (maybe around 2min) just to feel the pickup. My CT is currently around 4.5 years already. Maybe old already hmm.gif

So want to check with you sifu-sifu if can advice me on this.... icon_question.gif

Hey neato4u, thx for the helpful advice. biggrin.gif

Yeah, mine is the same version as yours... if not mistaken it's 2005 (not the facelift one). Outlook quite charn already lo... cause front & back bumper also kena kiss (paint came off + scratches) but haven't send for repainting yet. Was thinking of waiting to paint whole car only take care everything. whistling.gif

Just changed tyres at Klang today. Previously using Hankook Ventuz, and noted that when cornering at the kerinchi link (wet road) it'll slide to left eventhough just going around 70-80km. Scare-scare, so friend recommended to change the tyres since mine has been more than 3 years already but the threading still look like new. Is there a limit in tyre life since mine still looks new (with a bit makan the side - front wheels)?

Sent it for service early July but they skipped the 80K service where they're suppose to change the spark plug & straight go to 85K service. mad.gif
Will need to check with SC if they can help to recalibrate ECU & see if it'll help. Hmm, wondering if it's also because I'm using semi-oil as well?

Also when put into reverse gear and start reversing sometimes it'll jerk, send to the SC so many times but they say no problem with the car. Last time they mentioned it's because of the air-cond cause the guy who fixed the compressor set it to high that's why can feel jerking. After that, the SC fix it and it was ok awhile. But came back after awhile shakehead.gif

Got a friend to try the emergency braking today (before changing new tyres) and he mentioned seem ok... But still, I think better send back to the brakepad workshop cause normally when I feel something is wrong with my CT, I'm usually right. Is it because I'm too in-tune with my car? sweat.gif

Mine older than yours lor.. version 2003 laugh.gif yeah mine got some scratches too at rear and side rear. Previously front bumper smashed, then repair, then rear bang pulak.. so now wait lor, not that free to repair yet (maybe mod? haha)
Me not going to mod le, girl driver here. tongue.gif So not really familiar with the mod thingy. Hehe

QUOTE
I tot the 80k is major service that costs around 800 bucks? Why they skipped that? But if you know what parts that need to be changed, better do it outside - SC costs a bomb.
Not sure why they skipped the 80K service as well. A friend was saying that they're trying to save cost for me cause current milleage is only 60K. sweat.gif

Was contemplating of not going to SC (Roda BB along old Klang road) anymore, can save money but unfortunately don't have any workshop that I'm familiar with

Does anyone have recommendations of any good workshop along Old Klang Road?

QUOTE
The very common issue of honda city. Some guy even changed his gearbox, only to realize the issue happened again several weeks later! It's the cause of the lag of the auto transmission. When you change to R, it will take some time to engage the clutch or something... but it's normal, just keep your foot at brake, switch R, wait few seconds until you feel car pulling reverse, then only disengage your brake.. unless anyone else have a proper solution, i want to know oso.. hehe
Haha.... yeah, if anyone got any other solutions, please do let us know. In the meantime will try out neato's advice first. biggrin.gif

QUOTE
Your friend can only judge based on the current settings of your car brake. But he didn't feel what's it like previously. Only you can feel it. If you do feel there's something wrong, trust your guts and i agree if you send back for further check. Your old brake, it's stock or non stock? If you had a better brakes before, then changed to a cheapo brake pads, that maybe the cause oso.
hmm.gif According to the guy, it's ori Honda (showed the honda box some more) but not sure whether they're tipu or not

Don't use Honda original break pads, they are still a lot of choices for you. The popular one would be Bendix,i changed mine to Nissin breakpads about 5 months ago,can feel it's better than the original one from Honda.
That's good is it? Might think of changing it when my current one is worn out. biggrin.gif

QUOTE(F1meteor @ Jul 30 2009, 10:26 AM)
hmm.. the 80k is a major service. it changed quite a number of stuffs, brake fluid is 1 of the stuff they changed which i can remember. because once they changed the brake fluid, i can feel the brake is a lot better. they didn't change my brake pad.. they say still got more than 50% left...

when i do 80k service, my car is also lesser than 80k km...
but mind you some stuff needs to be changed after a period of time..
Hmm..... need to get them to do the 80K service on my next car service then. Worried already since it's major service. sad.gif

QUOTE(raymond5105 @ Aug 1 2009, 07:19 PM)
@agv7981, booklet is benchmarked to the mineral based engine oil from them. If you are with semi-synthetic oil you may go for 7000 km before service. Replacing spark plugs and other are costing RM400+ ? What are the others parts which change? Spark plugs changed at 15k km seems to be abnormal, the life time of them wasn't long enough before the standard one.

Normally go service every 3 mths... if wait for 7K only service might have to wait 9 mths *paiseh* cause only use the car to drive to & fro office and go jalan-jalan only. blush.gif

@rmage, currently with the Nissin break pad i can feel better in breaking. Let me go home and fine out the photo which i snapped previously. Your car mileage is only 2-3k km in 3 months? That's little man.
hmm.gif Might consider changing to that when my current pad is worn out. Haha.... normally mine is that, cause don't travel that much. blush.gif

Hi All,

Remember the braking problem that i was having previously. Yesterday, finally got the time to send the car back to the workshop which changed my brake pads. They check-check and found out that it was the brake pump is broken.

Changed new brake pump (think it's around RM430) and labour + refill the brake fluid (cause empty already), it comes to around RM470.

This is really not a very good year for me.... cry.gif

See.. i told you to trust your feelings. Your senses will tell you if something is wrong, like spider senses? lol laugh.gif

where's the brake pump? why all the sudden it broke?

The mechanic over there accidentally broke it when change brake pads? sweat.gif

QUOTE(raymond5105 @ Aug 8 2009, 08:27 PM)
That's expensive man.The foreman accidentally damaged your break pump? How could he did that? doh.gif
Well, didn't get the chance to ask the guy much cause was rushing to go off somewhere. He was mentioning that I was using too much breaking.

I think the pump spoiled when I was pressing too much on braking when was trying to stop due to car which was cutting in from another lane. It was raining at that time, successfully brake but felt there was something wrong with the braking a few weeks later.

At first thought it was because the brake pads finishing, changed the brake pads, but felt that it was still the same. Then changed the tyres, but the problem still there so in the end sent it back to the workshop and they say because the brake pump spoiled.

The pump is still with me.... but have not check it out yet. tongue.gif

Hi All,

Haha.... feel so outdated since haven't been visiting this forum for quite some time.

Anyone got good mechanic around Old Klang Road? Cause going for 80K service, else will need to send back to Honda SC.... sad.gif

julnoel: I will normally feel the jerking when i put it into reverse gear, been complaining to SC everytime but none of them was able to detect the reason of the jerking. doh.gif Sorry that I couldn't be of much help here.

Maybe the sifus are able to give a hand smile.gif

Does anyone knows how much for the brake pads replacement at SC..

I heard that is around RM490 for four brake pads..

Is way to expensive for just brake pads at that price?
*
Agree with raymond, it's way too expensive and overpriced.

I think mine was only around RM250 - RM300 to change all 4 brake pads (honda brake pads).

By the way, HAPPY NEW YEAR to all Honda CITY owners!! rclxms.gif

Hi All,

Want to check if anyone has experienced any problems with the window motors located at the driver side and front passenger?

Mine (driver side) just went kaput yesterday and currently waiting for the new one to arrive and to be installed.

The passenger side went kaput and had to changed a new motor last year. cry.gif

Is it really that fast for the motor to spoil? My city is currently 5 years old. icon_question.gif

Can't remember the exact price from SC, will need to check back the receipt. But I think it should be around RM 300 - RM400.

Currently sending to outside workshop to change since it's cheaper. Will update you guys once I've managed to locate the old receipt. smile.gif

Raymond, have you encounter this problem with CITY as well?

bro i got the same problem too. i sent to SC at melacca but their workmanship is very3 poor.
my city stay at their SC for one full week but they still cant repair the damn side mirror.
i pissed off then take back my car without repairing.and i think they use a lot of my fuel also, when i sent for repair my tank is full, after i take back my car it left 3/4 tank(dont know what they did to my car)
few months later i sent for service at SC again(this time at service centre near kepong). but then they said they wont touch anything to the side mirror system becoz they suspected me to do some MODIFICATION outside honda SC.coz they found out some cables has been cutted
i told them that great job was done by melacca SC.but kepong SC still cant repair it for me,ask me go back to melacca to repair it.DAMN SHIT!!!

so now i want to ask whether outside workshop can repair it or not?and roughly how much
*
Hi M3!7,

Yup, you can send it to outside workshop to fix as it's cheaper compared to sending to SC. My bill when sending to SC came up to around RM800/++ while when I send to outside workshop it's only around RM600 (inclusive labour). The workshop that I've sent it to, their workmanship is not bad.

Agree with lot101 to write up to their Country Manager on your experience with the Malacca SC and the stolen fuel. Their charges are not cheap and we're sending our cars back to Honda SC believing that they will adopt a professional attitude in handling our precious City. shakehead.gif

My City is year 03 model,i seldom use the windows and maybe it is one of the reason it can stands long. The main window will sometimes short a bit, i will need to close the switch 2-3 times to wind back my window at driver side.
*
Lucky you. thumbup.gif

I've experienced a few of the shorting case at the driver side as well (e.g.: problem winding up using the auto but has no problem when doing it manually). The SC guy say it's probably some dirt sticking at the side which is preventing the window in winding up using the auto. They cleared it and it was working fine after that.

Luckily so far no problem with the 2 back windows. (Touch wood first to be on the safe side) laugh.gif

Hi All,

Has anyone changed their City absorbers? My back absorbers seemed to be giving problems.

Went over a hump quite fast and there was this clang-clang sound (like no more support) from the back. cry.gif

Some more there was no reflector painted at the hump. So didn't see it when driving at night.

Wonder how much it would cost to change the absorbers....

I have replaced my rear absorbers too on last August where my rear right absorbers had oil leakage. You may try to check your absorbers and see if there is an oil leakage. On the sound, last time i have a kind of sound on when the road was bumpy, end out my mechanic found out that one of the screw nuts on the axle was not tight enough.
*
Yeah, was thinking of sending to SC for service soon. Thinking of asking them to check it out if really need changing or maybe some screws are loose.

But won't be changing the absorbers at SC since it's going to be expensive. brows.gif

How much did it cost you to change to the new ones? Did you change it at SC?

The price seemed ok, is this the standard Honda absorbers?

Was advised by a friend that it's better to change the front absorbers as well if changing the rear one. Is it true? Sorry noob at this sweat.gif

By the way, heard that the front will cost 3x the price of the rear???

Hi Raymond,

Me not expert on absorbers le. Was thinking of changing to the same old honda absorbers only. sweat.gif

Anyway, sent to SC last Saturday and they mentioned that the absorbers still can use so no need to change first. They tighten some screws and seemed to be ok already.

But then my front passenger area seemed to have water leaking in. They mentioned that the plastic panel where the rubber is, the glue is no longer that strong since it's been 5 years. I was wondering if anyone has experienced something similar? icon_question.gif
