1) Whats the smaller button for?? I know the big one is to lock/unlock. The smaller one is for alarm? I don't dare to press it in case its something else.

2) The 7 speed thing, how does it work??

3) Does the car come with an auto lock function? LIke if I exit the car without locking, will it lock by itself?

Thanks guys for any help smile.gif

1. The smaller button is an emergency alarm. Read ur manual book bro.. Pressing it wont do any harm. Jes repress it again to deactivate the alarm

2. 7 speed mode is a virtual gear for our CTV. It's like an auto with control of gear function. How does it work? Simple, to use it, press 7 speed mode then try it yourself with + or - button. 1 for gear 1st gear, 2 for 2nd gear and so on.

3. The car wont autolock but it will arm the alarm. If your car is not lock, withing a minute, it will arm the alarm. The sound wont goes up but when u open the door, it will. U kenot start ur car engine until u have press the big button to disengage the alarm. This is call immobiliser.

For number 2, i hear there is an auto 7 speed and a manual 7 speed. how does the auto one work? to be honest, im not a big fan of manual things doh.gif

and is there really a substantial diff or wad lol

Your case is weired, the toggle on/off switch malfunction? Or the connection cable has some problem?
*
I know tell me about it

It happened just now also. I'm really afraid it drains my battery till kosong then I wont be able to start my car or sth

Anyways..

I found a temporary solution

U know the button to press to push the thing downwards so that you can insert a cd

On the other side, there is a button to completely remove the unit.

I removed that :/ and when I leave the car I'll just leave it hanging there on its own

Dunno la why it happens..anyone knows ):

Added on May 2, 2009, 12:02 pmHey guys

Had some problem with my city this morning sad.gif I was waiting outside my house on P and with handbrake on. Suddenly, the radio restarted and some lights on the dashboard came on (like when you start you car, the EPS light, the temp high temp low light) but it went off. Happened again a few times till I decided to turn the car completely off.

Then I couldnt turn the car on, I couldnt on the emergency indicators, I couldnt lock or unlock the car with my remote, I could open manually and just exit the car without any alarm going on.

I left the car for awhile, maybe 5 mins or so then when I came back I could lock and unlock the car with my remote, I could start everything again like normal. I even went for a short drive to try.

At that point in time, I deduced it was the radio (cos the radio was givin probs, coming on when the engine was off etc) so I removed the face plate.

But just now when I left the car to idle in P with brake on, it happened again. Now I cant start the car or do anything at all.

):

Anyone knows?

I moved the negative battery terminal a bit (is it meant to be movable?) and then i could start the car and everything again ): I checked my dad's car and the negative terminal is like screwed on so tight i cant even move it. So is it just a loose battery connection?

im afraid if i disconnect my battery tht the alarm comes on and i dont know how to override it (does anyone know??) the stock alarm i think. cobra one

im hoping and guessing its just a loose connection (i could push and pull the negative terminal connector) if opposed to the other cars at home which had it really stiff.

i doubt its the radio cos i put it back on just now and it was working well..like normal..didnt cause any "restarts"

but i noticed that when im idling..i hear a sound that comes on and off (like a fan). everytime that sound comes on then my lights will dim a little and brighten back up. but it doesnt affect the other electronics like the radio or the speedometer or anythin else

regarding the fan sound.. did you on your aircon? If yes, it's the aircon fan that's spinning..

normal. for me oso when the fan kicks in, then the lights will dim a bit.

must be something else then.

wah so sleepy...
*
aircond fan kicks in but once in awhile, its not like continuousy

so yeah okay nvm abt that

went to check with mechanic today. he helped me tighten the battery terminal part and so far so good, had the car on for abt 1 hour to see if it "restarts" but it didnt. so im guessing all is fine now. I HOPE

Stock setting on our car would be properly like that speed only.170km/h is quite fast already.VTEC version can go higher.Myvi manual maybe can tapou you,not the auto version. But they have to rev. kao kao already.

Is it your battery weak already?I've just changed my battery on Wednesday only. Battery k.o. after 2 year and 3 months.
*
my battery is the new kind ( i think) there arent any openings, just a + and - terminal

I guess it was just lose

had the mechanic tighten it (didnt have the tools and was partially scared >.<)

so now its okay smile.gif hopefully

i guess if battery was weak then i would be able to sort of start the car (crank it a bit) but when the battery went dead yesterday i couldnt start at all..so i guess it was just a loose connection

Does your battery connecters of both side get broken or cut when your mechanic tighten it for you?
*
no but i could move the negative terminal simply by pushing it..

i guess the vibration in the engine compartment messed with that a bit yesterday resulting in the "restarting" of my radio and the other electronics

so now its super tight

like the other cars i have at home cos i checked

@julnoel,Do you still face the same problem until today?
*
nope smile.gif so far so good. no restarting of the "electronics" whatsoever.

and i think this has happened to me once before, when i was having my driving lessons

the instructor had to go fix the car a bit, so after that i was driving, then suddenly on an empty stretch of road, everything just went off. LOL? the lights, the engine, even the emergency signal.

he had to push the car to the side and play with the terminals a bit, then the car was fine.

so yes, loose connection i guess smile.gif

just that in the city, the engine didnt go off but kept on running. I guess thats some other component that keeps it running that was malfunctioning in the kancil.

Good to hear that. Your experience with the instructor last time was weired,he didn't considered on the safety on his students. shocking.gif  Damn dangerous.
When car engine is off, usually can press the break manually. If you say like that, maybe the break is controlled by electronic?I'm doubt with it.But why you were not turning on the engine while moving the car?
*
Haha tell me about it. He was sleeping while I was driving too in the jam. tongue.gif

No i don't think so. Even it's wet it will dry up in a while if breaking is applied.

i dont know if he was really that tired or yeah he trusted me tongue.gif but it was a jam lah so.lol..nt much could have been done >.<

i find the idsi to be super fuel efficient

i filled up full tank the other day, about RM 63 i think

My usual journey is about 50km a day

So far I've had 5 days of class, which is abt 250km +-

And my tank only finished by half biggrin.gif

When I was drivin my satria, 50 bucks would have left me with 1/4 tank by now..

hehehehhee

So I get a 1km/0.12cents only biggrin.gif

As what scottkiller said, the aeroplane sound is normal and had been discussed before in previous versions of this thread, kindly perform a search to avoid embarassmant. thx laugh.gif

oh julnoel , city fuel indicator.. it's very slow to drop from full to half.. but from half to empty it drops fast. Maybe because of the tank position.

If you didn't floor or drive the car um... how to say.. really careful laugh.gif then you should have better mileage.

My record was 600km for full tank i think... but now full tank can only last for 450 - 500km. I really floor a lot and there was once even a beamer lost to the legendary City brows.gif so I am happy enough with my mileage laugh.gif

My friend just bought a new set of rims.. sweat.gif As for me, i'm still waiting for more $$$ to mod my car sweat.gif you should have a look at teamcity, they mod kaw-kaw over there..

confirmed - honda city 3g (2003) have electronic assisted braking system.

I've tried this yesterday on a downhill road. You should try this too and confirm.

Preparation : Make sure road is hilly enough so when you put the car in N, it will roll down slowly.

1. Turn on engine, switch gear to N
2. Pull handbrake
3. Turn off engine while gear in N, press brake a few times
4. Switch gear to R, press brake a few times
5. Switch gear to N
6. Release handbrake
7. Press brake pedal

You should feel brake power is 1/10 and you need more force to stop the car.

Pull handbrake to stop the car.

Start the car, and you will feel the difference.
*
ohmaigods? isnt that dangerous??

so in the event your car suddenly has its electronics disabled..

YOU CANNOT BRAKE?

According to the Honda website...
VTEC 80k km service is RM656.25.  IDSI is RM736.30.  Must be becos of the extra spark plugs.

However, 100k km service for VTEC is RM803.40 versus IDSI's RM391.35.  I wonder why?

Which SC u guys go to that can bargain the price?  The one I visit is like fixed price... damn these blood suckers...
*
the SC i went gaev some discounts but i think its just a kind of placebo effect kinda thing

and a free towel? lolz

QUOTE(neato4u @ May 25 2009, 09:38 AM)
I can confirm it's electronically assisted on my idsi 2003. Maybe you should try performing this and see if it's the same as yours julnoel.

Yeah, really scary if sudden everything malfunction or the electronics got cut off sweat.gif

but based on my test, if the power cuts - you still have like 2 or 3 times brake which are electronically assisted, before it run out of juice. I guess it got some capacitors to store energy for emergency, i guess...

so once no power, make sure you brake and stop ASAP.
*
dun wan la sounds scary the test after my car die.

biggrin.gif

okay..scary ler
