Never heard such thing before , which phone shop told you that? Careful, that shop might want to 'buaya' you .

The hp shop is sell the Nokia ori set.It is located in IOI mall. He commented when I inquired about what are the software that will be included with the phone. He commented this when I asked if the Garmin GPS software is included.

He further commented to remove the Garmin software before sending to Nokia center for repair.

Handphone shop is not Nokia SC, so they cant really comment...It depends on the Nokia SC personnel..and also what "type" of Garmin XT that you have installed...

Nokia cant know what type of Garmin you are installing... Let make this clear, E66 is GPS enable and Symbian phone. So installing Garmin or Apps is the owner rights... If not why they came out with so many Symbian phone??? For them is the warranty issue only... Garmin is not a hardware is a software where you can purchase it online... Simple as that... If they say your phone installed with Garmin so the warranty void, then the Service Center would have prob, either they are not prof or they not sure what they are talking about...

Indeed, yip_man is right. Garmin does not belongs to Nokia and they have no right to control what we installed in our phones. Unless we change the product code or any hardware in the phone, our phone warranty still intact and they have to serve us .

What I can see from this situation is that handphone seller want to scare you off so he can sell you an ORIGINAL version of Garmin . 'Wan sek kak lan' especially at this time, they will do all sort of tactic to earn more $$ . Know your right and you will be safe .

So guys 3rd party apps installed on your phone is not an issue for warranty... Nokia only reads their warranty sticker at the back of the phone. If still intact and stick properlly then shouldnt be a problem, if its broken then warranty is void...

Ori Zitron from Nokia SC - about RM 16??
Ori Zitron from handphone shops - about RM13?? (everything and warranty as per Nokia SC)
AP units from handphone shops - about RM12??

It looks like there is a huge difference in the Ori Zitron hp from Nokia SC and outside shops.

Here is the catch, Nokia SC is selling at retail price which is the MAXIMUM OFFICIAL price you saw in the advertisement on TV or newspaper. As for normal handphone shops, they have more freedom to lower down the price, even selling the phone at cost price if you are super close to them .

i think it can be either zitron or avaxx..depending on the model, certain nokias are distributed by both.

Yes no different. Both is under Nokia Malaysia...

yip_man is rite..both are authorised distributor..but service-wise and warranty-related matters & experience might differ...

I believe if buy from Nokia SC, then they will set up your hp will all the necessary software plus guiding you with any questions related to the phone.

If you buy from the outside shops, they will not be able to do what the Nokia SC people can do.

I just found out that Nokia PC Suite only support Windows XP and Vista. It does not support Mac OS.
